Service was fine, awesome breakfast and amazing people. Scotland is always lovely, but this hotel its perfect for rest, relax and disengage. Superb lobby, classic style but modern concept of leisure and client engaging.

I can't give this hotel anymore than a 2 star rating as behind the grand entrance hall the whole place looks tired and in need of an overhaul. The room was ok - nothing special - again everything in it was tired! The bed was comfortable but the room too hot and very noisy from the street outside. Breakfast was...

I have stayed in a few railway hotels round the country and love their history and tradition. The Royal Highland was no exception, grand staircases, large light fittings etc, are all there. Our room was large and very comfortable. The room was spotlessy clean as was the bathroom. Breakfast was fine, plenty of food on offer. Found the bar to...

Myself and my partner stayed in the royal highland hotel at the start of may and we both loved it! We were on the third floor at the back of the hotel just above the train station which you couldn't really hear, so we were not bothered by this. Whilst staying the third floor corridor was being updated and painted....

I'll start by saying I like this hotel and would be willing to stay again but the small things would have to be addressed. It started as soon as we got there, I booked this hotel through Late rooms and was sure that I had seen confirmation on the page that I had pre-paid it but the receptionist insisted it...

We've been here once or twice for lunch and food is really good. However when we visited on 16/5 the service wasn't nearly as good as what we've come to expect here. Waited for ages to be served eventually I had to ask them would they clear table and give us menus, this they did eventually then had to go...

Back here for the second time in 9 months and would come again. Yes the hotel rooms are a little tired but they are clean and comfortable. Both times we have slept well even though we looked out onto the main road. Found the staff to be polite and pleasant. Quite a good choice in the breakfast buffet. Loved the...

Very comfortable hotel, ideally situated next door to the station, so especially good for those people that may be less mobile. Friendly staff, especially in the restaurant, which was well organised. Food was of a high standard, with everything you could want for breakfast and tasty well cooked evening meals. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There is very little noise...

This hotel looks a bit like a hotel from the sixties. It is in need of refurbishing and hopefully it will not take to long. Pricewise it is an expensive hotel for the delivered service. Check in from 3 PM is a bit sad. The good thing is that it is situated next to the station. A walk to the...

We have stayed at this hotel 6 times and as always it was just right for us. Nice rooms, great location and had a good meal in the restaurant. The breakfast is excellent and we look forward to staying again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Royal Highland Hotel is the oldest hotel in the centre of the Highland capital, Inverness. In 2000, the property was carefully restored, retaining its unique character associated with the bygone age. As soon as you enter the hotel you will appreciate this. In the foyer the grand staircase, the inspiration for the Titanic's staircase, leads to the 84 spacious refurbished bedrooms - all with very high ceilings. The decor is rich with traditional furniture and deep colours. The rooms all have soft furnishings and antique style furniture. The excellent bathrooms are generally medium to large in size. For over 151 years, the hotel has been looking after travellers from all over the world. Perhaps its popularity stems from the fact the hotel is a grand place to stay. Large bedrooms, large lounge areas, quiet meeting rooms, good food, prime location and friendly staff all play their part. All local amenities close to hand, but within a 5 minute drive you are out into the dramatic Highlands. Lochness is only 7 miles from the hotel. ... more   less
