Stayed at Knockendarroch Hotel at the weekend for 2 nights in Room 5 on DBB rate. On arrival the staff were very professional and helpful at check in which was at 3pm. Our room was well appointed with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The bedroom was spotlessly clean with tea/coffee making facilities available plus bottled water and the bed extremely comfortable. The hotel has plenty of parking available for guests and is only a 10 minute walk into the town. The lounge was a perfect place to rest after a long drive or sight seeing trip during the day with very attentive staff who offered drinks to enjoy whilst relaxing. It was a lovely touch that guests meet first in the lounge before dinner to choose your food from the excellent menu and enjoy an aperitif plus canapes. Our meals at breakfast and dinner were of the highest quality with plenty of choice. All the staff were attentive without being overbearing and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was relaxing. They really make this hotel stand out from their local competition. Looking forward to returning soon.

We had a wonderful two night stay here in a beautiful premier room, shortly after the hotel re-opened. We were very impressed by the way in which social distancing and sanitising was managed. Staff demonstrate a high level of awareness of keeping everyone safe. For example, room keys are sanitised in front of guests, areas are sanitised after each party moves away, table settings are UV sanitised once tables are set. However, this does not detract from the comfortably charming atmosphere and ambiance. The hotel has invested in fantastic but unobtrusive screens in the lounge and dining room areas. Having booked your slot for dinner, you arrive and are taken to your designated safely zoned seat in the lounge. Here, you are brought your own (single use) paper menu so that you can make your choice, whilst enjoying a pre-dinner drink. You are then taken through to the beautiful dining room and once again, the area is screened so that you feel safe. However, you still feel part of the sedately buzzy atmosphere. As to the standard of the food; it is extremely impressive. We had two wonderful dinners and two delicious breakfasts. As a vegan, we flagged this up at booking and I was provided with my own menu and offered choices for each course. This made me feel that extra care had been taken to ensure I was well looked after. In all, we felt safe, pampered and relaxed. We'll definintely return.

We have stayed at Knockendarroch many time in the past and it has always maintained its superb quality. But this was our first cautious return after three plus months of 'lockdown'. I am pleased to say that we were not disappointed.

We found that considerable thought had gone into ensuring that guests were socially distanced, without spoiling the pleasant ambience and comfort of the hotel. Dinner has been organised into 'sittings' at set times. Guests are first invited to the lounge at a specific time for pre-dinner drinks. Clear perspex screens have been arranged between the seating areas and sofas, to ensure the minimum of close contact. Delicious 'amuse bouche' are served with drinks and then guests are escorted into the dinning room. Tables are spaced apart and again protected by screens and every care is taken by the serving staff to observe the required levels of hygiene.

The food is superb, with a menu that offers good choices of a very high quality to suit all tastes. And despite covid, the dining room still retains much of its former ambience.

Our room was as ever very comfortable, with lovely views over the valley and a sumptuous bed. Breakfast again has been arranged in sittings, and wide choice is offered to suit everyone's' taste to include the most memorable 'full Scottish'!

Overall we found that the precautions taken against covid were very reassuring, without spoiling the comfort and quality of the hotel. I am sure that we will return for a longer stay in the Autumn.

After a recent disappointing stay in a hotel on Arran we didn't really know what to expect here . We needn't have worried. This hotel is first class and should arguably be rated higher than its current 4 star! status.
Clearly an exceptionally well run and happy family hotel Louise, Straun and their marvellously friendly staff go beyond the extra mile to provide the best for their guests!
The very highest of sanitation measures throughout the hotel are clearly evident however advised by Louise that the hotel decided to tackle the issues they faced by adopting a policy of whilst maintaining the strictest of hygiene they would never the less do their best to provide guests with as near as they could, their previous levels of luxury and guess what, it's worked to a treat!
Everything superb. Daily room service including top up service, absolutely gorgeous and extremely comfortable public areas including elegant lounges, complete with unobtrusive perspex screens .
Food - This is fine dining! Absolutely wonderful nothing more to add. :) Beautifully laid tables in an elegant setting again spotlessly clean throughout. Breakfast was one of the tastiest I have ever tasted in any hotel I have every visited and that's over a lot of years ( the scrambled egg was sensational!)
I really cannot rate this hotel too highly. It was just superb and plan to definitely return again one day. All boxes ticked perfectly!!!

The food throughout the stay was excellent, with the service always very attentive.
Nice large spacious rooms which are presented with an obvious keen eye to detail by the staff to create a luxury feel.

We thought long and hard about revisiting perhaps our most favourite hotel and restaurant due of course to Covid 19 concerns. Scrutinising the hotel website we were convinced the precautions against virus spread were well considered so for a birthday night away (since you ask 73 years young) we took the plunge. For what it's worth a week later we're not coughing. The real areas of concern, given we take most comfort from distancing, were going to be lounge and dining room. Screening and spacing were well in evidence and with the very recently opened dining room extension I hope we managed not to alarm other guests too much.

I reckon the menu could do with an extra (fish) course though perhaps a difficult ask to prolong sitting time in current circumstances. Greatest disappointment of all the whisky cupboard was absent Springbank 15 yr old. Obviously too many others appreciate its delights.

Hello RogerMackenzie Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay having been a little cautious beforehand. Thanks for the feedback re an extra fish course. We will take a look at that, but with a fish option in both the starters and mains each night, we might not be able to justify a dedicated course. On the subject of Springbank 15, sadly it is now incredibly difficult to find and as a result so expensive that it really doesn't represent good value at the moment. We are told that it will be more widely available in 2021 so hopefully it will make a reappearance on the shelf. Thanks again and kind regards Struan

My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a night away. The hotel was spotlessly clean, our room was lovely and the bed was so comfy that it’s the best I’ve ever slept in a hotel bed! The food was delicious and the staff were attentive. We could see first hand the measures staff went to when checking things were clean, sanitising etc so we felt very safe during our stay. The only thing that could’ve made our stay even better is (and it might not be to everyone’s taste hence the reason it’s not affected the score) playing a little music in the dining room would’ve been lovely as we felt we had to whisper. It seemed everyone else was too as it was so quiet It wouldn’t put me off returning and I’ll definitely recommend this hotel to family & friends.

Hello mariacT5009LC Thanks for the review and I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. We do usually play music in the restaurant at dinner, but in line with the current Scottish law, I'm afraid that the music has had to be turned off. Just one of the many restrictions we are all adapting to at the moment. Thanks again and kind regards Struan

What an amazing experience. From start to finish this was just the most fantastic stay. My friend and I arrived on a Thursday afternoon to be informed we had been upgraded to a suite! We actually laughed and laughed at how beautiful our suite was, it was huge with everything we needed and more! There was a sofa, a comfy chair, coffee table, huge tv, tea/coffee making and a fridge in the sitting room area. There was also a table with 2 chairs. Our bedroom was huge with 2 single beds, beautiful chest of drawers for bedside cabinets, dressing table, large wardrobe and tv. The bathroom was expansive with walk in shower, large bath, lots of shelves for storage, toilet and sink. All beautifully decorated and so clean. Did I mention the umbrella at the front door too as our suite had it's own entrance and we had bottles of water for our stay too and complimentary toiletries too. The room has lots of beautiful windows which made it very light. The staff are just wonderful and so attentive without being in your face and really friendly. They actually care how you are. The food well you could say delicious, you could say stunning but actually I don't think there are any words to say how amazing it was, with such a range of choices for every palate. All we did while eating was go "mmmm that is delicious!" The library where you have canapés is so welcoming and such a social area which after the pandemic was so nice to socialise with people. We chatted with another couple on both nights till after 11pm! Breakfast again was awesome and enough choice for everyone. One thing I really enjoyed was that you ordered your dinner in the library then had canapés then you were taken to your table when your dinner was ready, then you were served your dinner after picking which bread you wanted. We had Curry bread one night and purple bread, sorry I know it was a new one but I can't remember exactly what type it was, anyway both were delicious! There are not enough words for how much we enjoyed our stay. After what can only be described as an awful 2 years for me, this was just the perfect place to be treated like a princess again. Thank you so much Team Knockendarroch for THE most amazing experience. We will return.

I stayed at Knockendarroch for one night to catch up with family who.were having a short break there. I was blown away by the standard of accommodation, the quality of the food and the friendliness and attention to detail of all the staff. I have health issues which necessitate a low fat/lactose free diet and the hotel could not have been better at catering for me.
Covidwise, Knockendarroch has gone above and beyond in trying to ensure a safe but still comfortable experience for guests and staff - the whole hotel was spotless and is obviously very well loved by its owners.
Finally, our evening meal and breakfast were superb and I only wished I was staying longer! Also, if Knockendarroch reads this....where do you get those delicious veggie sausages that I had at breakfast?
Thank you so much for a lovely family get-together.

This is one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed at and fully deserves all its plaudits. All of the staff are friendly and eager to help. The room is beautiful with windows looking over the town and the hills. Very comfortable bed. Lovely toiletries.
The food is amazing - flavoursome, fresh and appropriate portion sizes. Canapes in the lounge before the meal, coffee and tablet after. All feels so special.
Attention to Covid precautions has been first-class.
Only a few minutes walk into Pitlochry so excellent situation.
Everything about this hotel feels special.
