We stayed here for a little break room nice squeeky floor board but you expect that from an old building staff very friendly evening meal fantastic chef appologised for limited menu but what they were serving was good continental breakfast as the kitchen was closing due to the virus having an effect on the business everywhere in the hotel was spotless will go back after the virus is over just to find out what thw breakfast is like

Excellent hotel food was great both at breakfast and the bar. Staff were efficient and polite. The room was clean and tidy the bed comfortable. However, so called guests spoilt our experience. 2 days in a row the corridor on floor 1 reeked of cannabis smoking, and on the Saturday night through till the small hour into Sunday we were kept awake by idiots in the room above by their shouting and banging. Both I suppose out with the control of the hotel. Pity or I would have given it 5 stars.

Came to paisley for a funeral. You get what you pay for. Rooms are adequate with tea and coffee making facilities and the staff are lovely. The restaurant was closed during our stay due to flooding however we were a bit disappointed that the menu still wasn’t available in the bar. Bar food was ok nothing to shout about. The one thing that ruined my stay...THE NOISE. On our first night there was a party in the ballroom which you can see from our bedroom window. Expected some noise, no issues there. But when they went to bed in the early hours of the morning it sounded like a herd of elephants in the room above. Every time a door shuts it echoes throughout the hallway. Also when either the adjoining or above room flushes the toilet it sounds like it’s next to your head. And you can hear conversations/TVs from other rooms. The next night the same thing, minus the party!! I now have a 7 hour drive on possibly the worst nights sleep I’ve had since my children were babies! Don’t get me wrong I would stay here again but I’d 100% be bringing earplugs!! Also it’s worth noting there’s no cash used on site. I don’t feel this is a massive issue but I did witness one customer having a bit of a meltdown about it.

Now don’t get me wrong there are some really great positives about this place, the staff (in general, although not all spring to mind), but it has to be said that the hotel is old, or quaint, whichever description you prefer. However; The rooms are really clean, I stayed in a double on the 3rd floor (317) but the room was that small that the bed is jammed up against a wall which if you were staying as a couple, (I was on my own), would mean you would have to climb over one another to get into bed. The room has an A4 laminated guest card, which warns that hot water is at a premium. It advises to run the water before hand to be able to encourage it to get to an ambient temperature. Apparently during low occupancy it’s at its most difficult. Only stayed for one night and had to wait until the following morning to be able to shower, but I guess the hotel is being upfront and honest. Shame it’s not on the preamble on the third party website! Had it been I wouldn’t have made the booking. Internet, which was free seemed fine, (despite the same laminated card warning you of reduced capacity during busy periods), however despite that warning, on this occasion no problems for me at all. Food was really reasonable, especially the included breakfast but I was really looking for some authentic Scottish fare. No haggis available at all. Not for your evening meal or breakfast. I was genuinely disappointed. There was a potato farl with the breakfast, which was described I think on the menu as a ‘scone’. It isn’t a ‘scone’ and you don’t need to be Scottish to know that. Despite the above, the food is extremely reasonably priced as is the accommodation. Staff are fantastic. During our meal the chef came out and asked us how our food was which in my experience isn’t typical. If you book through a third party as I did, it suggested that there was free parking - no need to book. That isn’t true. There are a number of spaces available free of charge on a first come first served basis. If these spaces are occupied you have to park in the same car park - but away from the hotel, which is owned by the local authority and therefore until 6pm you have to pay for the privilege. Be warned. You are not permitted to use cash in this establishment. A recent policy change apparently. There are signs in a number of places alerting you to that fact, which is rather strange. No explanation offered either. Debit or credit cards, or contactless phone pay only. Kinda made you feel there was something strange going on like perhaps the owners didn’t trust their staff, it’s customers or both. The reason for this wasn’t explained so who knows? You get what you pay for I guess. I was there on business which was fine. If I was staying for pleasure my review could have been very different! Would I stay here again, yes, but for business only.
