I just need somewhere to stay while buying a boat. I didn't think I would get a cheap room on a Saturday night but this one came through Tripadvisor/Booking.com at a similar rate I had paid for a Sunday night about three weeks before! The description was odd: Twin room with shower. The photos on the website don't make it much clearer. Which seemed to suggest no toilet, hence the price. When I got there I was pleasantly surprised to see I had an absolute bargain! The room had been recently refurbished with an ultra modern toilet and shower room. I booked a table for the evening and found that guests dine separately to the public; nice touch. Sizzling chicken was nice but choose the sauce carefully as you get plenty of it! I also had a very reasonably priced (£5.95) breakfast which was excellent. All the staff were pleasant, professional and seemed to be enjoying their jobs. For economy, I moved to the Premier Inn just up the road for Sunday night and it wasn't as good. More choice of TV channels at the Abbotsford, food not so good at the Premier Inn.
Stayed here for 2 nights, lovely friendly helpful staff throughout the hotel and restaurant. Well equipped room including bath/shower, ironing board/iron and hairdryer nice comfy bed plenty pillows and extra blankets. Room very well presented and clean
Very good value in restaurant for meals/drinks and food was of a very good standard service and hospitality also very good even when it was very busy throughout the evening
I stayed for one night whilst in the area and really enjoyed my stay. I had a room with a refurbished shower room which was excellent. A tray with tea/coffee making facilities and some local delicacies (tea cake and caramel wafer) was a nice touch and made me smile. The staff on reception were so welcoming and helpful, they could not be faulted. A friend and myself ate in the restaurant and the food was extremely good. Do book a table - I was there on a Sunday evening and most tables were occupied by 6.30pm as its well-thought of locally. A big breakfast was on offer next morning too. Recommend the hotel for anyone travelling through or on a short stay.
We were very pleased with our stay at the Abbotsford. It is in a handy location with big car park, nicely refurbed rooms and lovely restaurant. The staff were extremely nice all round and made everything a pleasure. The food was absolutely delicious in the evenings and the cocktails were amazing! Different and tasty - I loved them. All reasonably priced. Could do with a little work in the bathrooms as they are quite dated and worn but it was clean, warm and very quiet. Thank you
Stayed on the way to Oban. Wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Great meal in the restaurant. Great breakfast. Great family room with enough space and 2 bathrooms. Customer service was excellent too.
