Just left the campsite after a lovely weekend we stayed in the bell tent massive tent with one double and 2 single mattress. Loads of space. What a view. If we had lovely weather it would be magical. Couple who run it are very welcoming picked up our gear when we got off the boat and will drop your gear down for the 12 boat very peaceful place. Would highly recommend.

Great couple of nights..kids had a ball. Stayed in a yurt, good facilities and a very nice campsite. Delighted to get luggage collected and dropped off and charging of devices was available. Communication with the campsite before our arrival was excellent.

We stayed in a yurt on the campsite. It had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Large comfy bed, cooker, ice box, wood burning stove for the cool nights. And the site is dog friendly! There are two pubs close by for food and drink and a shop for essentials. Perfectly beautiful get away.

Just a magical weekend at the Yurts in Cape Clear. 5 star rating - the whole place is spotless and Lyndey and Finbarr who were running the Yurts were amazing - nothing was a bother. To wake up in the morning and hear the sea and waves crashing off the rocks in South Harbour is amazing. Some beautiful walks on the Island and everyone we met were so nice. Great to have outdoor drinks in Cotters and the Club and Neil's Pizzas and seafood chowder in An Siopa were amazing

Travelled recently for the first time to Cape Clear Island and stayed in a Yurt at Cape Clear Campsite. Cannot for a second fault anything about the place. Weather was the only slight downer on what was an AMAZING weekend. You 2 kids loved the island, loved the Campsite and the Yurt.

Comfortable yet basic, but we had pretty much everything we needed and anything we forgot to bring Lydia at the office sorted us out.

My son forgot his Teddy Bear and Lydia very kindly arranged to post it back to us - we are forever grateful for that, so Thank You!

On the Ferry back to Baltimore we were already discussing next years trip back - we will be back that is of no doubt.

Cannot recommend this Campsite and the Island enough.

Wonderful campsite, very clean and well run. They were very helpful and welcoming. We had all we needed, even a pump for air mattresses (forgot our own), kitchen utensil and more. We stayed in our own tent. Perfect location with spectacular views.

What a gem!!! Isn't enough words to say how fantastic this place is. Lyndy and Finbar are so welcoming and nothings to much trouble. The time and patience they had for an inquisitive 4 year old boy who had loads of questions. The place was so confortable and remarkably clean. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and the only regret we have is we had to return home. Can't wait to come back to this beautiful hidden gem again. If your thinking of booking go ahead and do it. You will not be disappointed

We stayed in the yurts and never again ,there was a lot of earwigs and creepy crawlies in the yurt .No lighting from the tents to the toilets at night and the toilets were far from clean all webs, beetles and lots of moths. The yurts are in a nice location and the island itself is nice .The restaurant at the pier is lovely with very helpfull staff .Kayaking was fantastic and will definetly go back on a day trip to that. The boat trip to and from the island was fantastic.

We're so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your some aspects of your stay with us. The yurts, although fully equipped, are still just luxury tents and you are still camping out of doors where you will find creepy crawlies. We have changed the design of the floors since you stayed, they are encased with the yurt, so there is less chance of earwigs and spiders sharing your holiday accommodation with you but if you look carefully round your own home, I'm afraid you might find the odd creature who isn't sharing your mortgage/rent too! (they can just hide better in a house) We found the comment about the showers/toilets a little unfair, as we are careful to ensure they are cleaned spotlessly at least once a day. I think what upset you was that there were moths in them. This happens because we leave the door open and lights on at night for customers, which obviously attracts moths and a few little spiders, who try to have a cheeky meal when we're not watching! Again, you are camping and must expect to find some insects, it is after all, their habitat. We don't light the rest of the campsite, as it would obviously disturb others trying to sleep. We now make sure we tell everyone to bring a torch (we had previously assumed people would, as they were camping) I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay on the island. If you're ever over again, please do come and speak to us, we don't mind constructive criticism, it helps us to help others enjoy their time with us.

I was so looking forward to this break away with four of my friends. Once we arrived on the island, there was no one there to meet us as planned. One of the local islanders rang the owner of the campsite to come collect our luggage. Once our luggage was collected we explored some of the island which is beautiful and had lunch in Cotters. We arrived at the campsite where we were shown around and told about all the amenities. We were advised that for our phone to be charged it would cost 50c and showers had to be paid for. We felt that this was a bit much as we had paid 125e for one night. In addition, we were asked for a €100 NOISE DEPOSIT. We were told that noise was not accepted after 11pm and we would be watched as we were a group. The owner told us of horror stories that she had with groups but that she trusted us. We felt as though we were treated like children, this was quite patronising as we are ladies in our mid 20s. We put our phones charging and when we went back the door was locked when we were previously told that somebody would be there. Eventually the owner arrived 30 minutes later.
We went out for food, but the pub Cotters was packed so continued our search for food. As hungry ladies, we decided to opt for a burger at a recommended chipper on the pier. We ordered food here and it took an hour and 40 mins. Not acceptable.
We went to the pub Chlub Cléire which was a quaint, welcoming pub where we had a lovely time and conversed with the locals.
We arrived back at the Yurts and got ready for bed. The bathrooms were all bugs and spiders. Not well maintained. When we woke we got dressed and decided to get the 12 ferry back to Baltimore. On leaving the Yurt, we witnessed two rats just outside the door. We went up to charge our phones and were greeted by the owner who handed back our NOISE DEPOSIT with the remark "apparently ye were quiet", this was extremely patronising and quite discriminatory.
Our luggage was taken down late for the ferry.
We won't be staying here again but will however, come back for a day visit.

Hi Eimear. Many thanks for your review and your feedback. My apologies for being a little late in coming to the pier to collect your bags, I was already there when I received the phone call. May I point out, I did NOT say you had to pay for the showers, they were never mentioned on the tour, nor did I say we would watch you as a group! What I did say was that I would only take €100 total as your noise deposit, instead of €50 per person (€250 total) as stated in all our emails, as I trusted you (hardly patronising as I was charging you less) You have to understand that the camp site used to have many groups who just partied all night and we have worked extremely hard over seven years to keep them away (by refusing people over the phone, by emails and on the pier when they arrive) so we have to reinforce our very strict rule of silence after 11pm, to keep our reputation as a quiet and peaceful camp site. A group of 3 or 30 could spoil it for everyone else, so, yes, we tell every adult group and always will. As soon as I saw you in the morning, I returned your €100, saying 'apparently you were quiet' but I was smiling and said it in a joking way, which you would have appreciated if you weren't a bit upset anyway (i did think you took it the wrong way at the time) You turned up with an extra person, 5 people instead of 4 and without the extra sleeping bag, as we only provide bedding for four (as in all our emails again) I gave you a sleeping bag for free and didn't even mention that we have to charge extra for washing extra bedding. (A sleeping bag takes a full wash and tumble dry by itself!) We have addressed the problem of our unwanted four legged friends. We do have to keep asking people to stop throwing food over the fence, which will obviously attract unwanted animals! The 'bugs' in the showers are moths which are attracted by the lights which we leave on all night, perfectly harmless and cleared away in the morning. The spiders are attracted by the moths obviously and we also try to keep them at bay but they hide in the day! We regularly clean the toilets and showers every day and pride ourselves on their cleanliness. Camping with shower blocks with open doors isn't the same as a concrete block hotel with airtight windows etc I'm afraid. Dave actually gave two of you a lift down to the pier with your bags when you left. The ferry was late arriving to Cape, which prevented him getting back to the campsite at 11.30 but you had plenty of time as your friends were only just getting coffees from the Siopa when you got to the pier. I'm sorry I wasn't there when you came to collect your phones because as you found out, I was at the pier meeting the last ferry. As I said, I would have brought them down to the pub/harbour for you, I was hardly going to go home and leave them in the office! I hope you will give us another go if you come to Cape again. You all seemed happy and friendly whenever we spoke, so I'm quite surpried at some of your remarks, maybe you could contact me by email? Sally Chleire Haven

Hi. There are two free car parks right next to the pier in Baltimore. Get there early as you may have to wait for a space! Call in and say hello when you're over! Sally
