Just got back from a wonderful break in Cape Clear in the hostel. Our host Anne was amazing and gave us the whole low down on eateries and where to have a drink in the evening. We met lots of other people in the hostel - from all over the world. It had been thirty years since I had stayed...

Stayed at hostel recently with a group of friends, Staff very friendly, breathtaking views of South Harbour. Facilities spotless. Very family friendly with strict no noise policy after 11 p.m. Would highly recommend a stay here an ideal spot to stay and explore Cape Clear.

We had just 24 hours on Cape Clear and are comfortable doing bunk beds for a night - and so the hostel was a great option. We were able to book in advance over email. There's not much preparatory information available, though there is a handy one-page information sheet about establishments' opening hours posted in the hostel. Being self-sufficient is...

I went to Cape Clear for a whale watching course in September 2014. The island is amazing and the hostel itself has some fantastic views from it! The rooms were clean, I shared a room with some of the other people on the course and I cant really fault it for the price :)

This year I was on a tour of Ireland with my family. We were aiming to visit some of the many islands dotted along the coast. I had not heard of Cape Clear before so it was fabulous to have the chance to visit such a 'secret' place. The ferry ride from Baltimore to the island is more than worth...

Stayed in October and this is an excellently run Hostel by Richie and Sinead. It is immaculate and extremely well looked after. Respect the rules here and you benefit from an immensely clean and friendly hostel. Highly recommended. It is about 10 mins walk from the ferry.

This was our first visit to Cape Clear, and it most certainly won't be our last. From the moment we arrived at the hostel we were made to feel so welcome by Richie, who runs a very tight ship. We stayed at several places (B&Bs, Guest Houses, self-catering cottage) during our fortnight in Ireland and this was far and away...

27 years since my two friends and myself stayed at this hostel. Island still as beautiful as ever, the greatest change was to the hostel, made feel welcome by Ritchie from arrival to departure. Hostel was immaculately clean, spotless kitchen and very well equipped. Shower facilities were a pleasure to use, no grime or hair balls, water lovely and hot....

Stunning location, interesting history and quirky decor (including the extraordinary ship in bottle collection). Ritchie was very helpful in helping us organise local sea kayaking and fishing trips, and keeps the hostel shipshape in all ways. The island is a real gem - we recommend the goat farm ice cream, the walk up to the old coastguard post (with views...

Cape Clear Island Holiday Hostel is stunningly situated in the South Harbour of Cape Clear Island within a few steps of the pebble beach. The view from all of the rooms is breathtaking; awaken in the morning, after a great night’s sleep, to the sound of the lapping waves with the freshest of air to breathe and, if you are lucky, your stay might coincide with the annual arrival of Basking Sharks to the waters directly outside the bedroom windows. ... more   less
