Although the rooms are acknowledged for their size and comfort, issues with cleanliness, noise, and upkeep have disappointed several guests. Can not recommend the Clayton Cork city enough. The location was ideal- close to all of corks hotspots with ample restaurants, shopping, and cafes nearby. The staff here were very professional and friendly. The hotel room itself was fantastic with everything you need and more. We had a room with a balcony which was an added bonus. You can adjust the temperature in your room which for me was a great thing because there’s nothing worse than waking up sweating in a hotel and unable to do anything. Temperature control in rooms is hard to come by in Irish hotels, as well as a mini fridge! The finishes in the hotel were of a high standard and everything felt quite new. They have a great cork city tablet in the atrium with loads of information on it- I wish I had seen it earlier in our stay. All you had to do was select what type of thing you were looking for whether it be local gigs, breakfast, trad music etc and it would provide you with the info and how to get there. I think they should move it closer to the reception desk as it’s a great tool for guests and is a bit hidden around the corner. I visited the spa and it was fantastic, very relaxing and fantastic staff. The facilities in general are outstanding. You have full access to the pool, sauna and gym just for staying at the hotel. Very good value. I would highly recommend this hotel.

As a couple, we stayed for two nights from Friday to Sunday. When we arrived to check in we were told that we had been upgraded to an executive suite - unsure why but obviously didn't turn it down!

The room was AMAZING! It was on the corner and facing the river, the windows stretched across the room and around said corner; it was massive and spacious.

We had a three-piece sofa which I think was a bed, a table and two chairs, a coffee table as well as the normal chest of drawers and wardrobe/cupboard space and a massive bed. We also had extra pillows and blankets in the cupboard.

There was also Sky TV, a safe, mini fridge, iron and board, tea and coffee making facilities and a hairdryer.

The bathroom area is also massive - there was a huge bath, double sinks, a separate shower and toilet. We were given plenty of towels.

Everything worked well as was very clean.

We had to ask for more teabags and they happily obliged.

There is a pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and a gym on site. I used the pool for a little while and it was quiet and clean and everyone was courteous while swimming. You change in the gym area so remember to take a padlock if you want to secure your belongings (I didn't have one so left a locked unlocked and didn't have a problem!) You also need to take or buy (2.5€) a swimming hat for the pool but they provide everyone with towels so you don't need to take them from the room and they had hairdryers and straighteners in the ladies changing room.

It's in the city centre and everything was great; we would definitely stay again.

Just arrived home from a family/girlie weekend in this fabulous City or Cork where the weekend could of been horrific after a lockdown! This hotel and it's super friendly, on it staff made our visit harmless under the circumstances that were surrounding us. From the start of our welcome to the clean comfortable rooms that had fridges, fluffy towels, ironing board, a hairdryer, iron and ironing board and if you were fortunate a room with a view, to the super friendly staff! Big shout out to our new friend Majella who welcomed us at morning breakfast with her Irish wit and sense of humour...adorable and couldn't do enough from accommodating our needs to advice as to where to visit. This hotel is open and modern and just a short walking distance to the City centre and situated right on the river Lee Bus station around the corner. When and not if I and my friends come to Cork again (already looking for an excuse), we will definitely be coming back here! One criticism...we were on the 4th floor and could overlook the atrium, they need to dust their Golden Balls🤣🤣🤣!

We recently stayed at the Clayton for two nights. When we arrived our rooms weren't ready so we went to the bar where the manager gave us complimentary tea while we waited. While we were waiting for around 1 hour after our check in time we were moved to another room that was ready by the very friendly receptionist. The room more than made up for the wait we had with a stand alone bath, shower, sofa area and beautiful view of the quays.

While we didn't eat at the hotel I can say that the hotel was very clean including all common areas and our room for our stay. The rooms themselves had a seal on the door to ensure customers that the room had been cleaned thoroughly and checked as well as having floor markings and hand sanitizer all around the hotel. The staff I met during my stay were very friendly and accommodating. If we are in Cork city again we will definitely be staying at the Clayton.

I stayed at the Clayton Hotel, Lapps Quay, for 3 nights with my family. The hotel was exceptionally clean. The management and staff are taking their responsibilities under the public health guidelines very seriously regarding Covid19. The bedroom was very clean, the pool was cleaned between time slots and it was obvious that staff were consciously cleaning surfaces regularly. The service at breakfast was excellent in the way it was managed and delivered. Seating in the bar area and lobby was well spaced with some of it closed off to increase space. We all felt very safe. The only very minor negative comment I would make is that their click and collect app to order food and drink in the room could be better, the range of drinks was limited and did not include Guinness or Murphy's.

Arrived at hotel and checked in. We were asked to pay for our rooms upfront in which I did and that's no issue at all. However as my colleague checked out this morning we were charged again for 1 of the rooms. The lady on reception then proceeded to tell me that she couldn't refund the card as she didn't have authority but a girl would be in at 2pm and she would then proceed to do it. At this stage I knew she was speaking to the manager on the phone who relayed her the message to pass onto me. Usually I wouldn't mind anyone making a mistake but waiting until 2pm for a refund was ridiculous. I told her this was not ok and could I speak to the manager, out arrives the manger from behind the wall who didn't even acknowledge us but guess what...she then issued a refund without any consultation.

At check in we were handed a Covid guideline document which in fairness is very good but it clearly states that the bar needs to be cleared by 23.30. After dinner in a local restaurant we arrived back to have 1 drink before bed at 22.30 to be told the bar is closed and if you want to can click and collect a drink but you can only consume it in your room.

So basically we were told that and reception area and bars were closed and we couldn't use any facilities of the hotel at 22.30 in the evening.

Breakfast. We arrived in for breakfast and there were people helping themselves to the buffet so we joined in the que behind them, and then a lady in suit employed by the hotel arrived to the buffet counter to tell us all that we shouldn't be on that side of the counter that the staff will hand you out your breakfast. It was a shambles to be honest that a lady in a suit is now handing people breakfast while trying to go between checking guests to there table.

We use alot of hotels in Ireland and this was by far one of the most ridiculous experiences i have ever had, Clayton Lapps Quay are charging premium prices for rooms so therefore you would expect alot more organization from them.

In my opinion there are far better hotels in the same location which also offer much better value for money.

Had a very pleasant stay at the Clayton. The receptionists, to the cleaners and especially the bar staff were polite, friendly and very approachable with any questions. The room was comfortable, clean and the decor warm and inviting. The Breakfast was plentiful, and well run and stocked up as soon as something ran out. I would definitely recommend staying here. It's location is close to the bus station, and a 5 minute cab journey to the train station. St Finbarre's Cathedral is a 15 minute walk, and many other attractions within easy walking distance. There are also plenty of nearby restaurants, bars, clubs within easy walking distance from the hotel.

Fantastic Hotel & Fantastic Staff, My Parents Are Just Home From A 2 Night Getaway Break For Their 42nd Anniversary. Upon Making The Booking I Had Mentioned That It was Their Anniversary & The Very Attentive Tara Left A Lovely Card & Box of Chocolates In Their Room, This Little Gesture Was So Thoughtful & Very Much Appreciated. Hotel Is Absolutely Stunning , Should Definitely Be Ranked 5Star, Exceptionally Clean , Spacious Rooms, All Staff Were So Friendly, Beautiful Spa With A Great Selection of Treatments at a very reasonable price( If It is Fully Booked Online , Definitely Call Spa Directly As I was Lucky To Get 2 Cancellation Appointments). Hotel Has Secure Underground Parking & The Lift In The Hotel Brings You Directly To It. Location of The Hotel Is Ideal , 3 Minutes Of A Beautiful Walk Brings You Straight Into The Centre , Beautiful Shops & Talented Musicians On Every Corner Created A Fantastic Atmosphere , Lovely Restaurants & Great Selection Of Bars. View From The Hotel is Stunning , Overlooking The Water & Their Is A Beautiful Boardwalk Outside Hotel If You Fancy A Walk.
Given The Current Covid Pandemic , Hotel Was Perfect, All Guidelines Were Being Adhered To 100% But Staff & Management Created Such A Friendly Atmosphere That It Didnt Take From The Experience.

What a find! Stayed here between Christmas and New Year with my husband and three daughters and can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Great location literally 5 mins walk from the heart of the city, shops and restaurants, with pool, spa and underground parking. The staff are absolutely incredible, and made for a truly memorable stay. The room wasn’t ready on check in so immediately offered us complimentary drinks while it was made up; they accommodated us even when we arrived late for breakfast one morning; and Joan in Accomodation Services went the extra mile in helping to get my bag back to me which I had left behind after check out.
I have stayed, on a professional level, in hotels across the world and can honestly say it was a five star experience. I very much look forward to returning in the very near future!

We Arrived to the hotel, checked in, lovely girl at reception, booked breakfast and off we went to our rooms. our room shower door were manky, the rubber has never been removed and cleaned the over flow water hole was thick with scum, broken tiles in bathroom for a four star hotel I would not think that would be acceptable. breakfast Saturday morning waiting 10 minutes pass time booked fair enough with COVID it’s understandable met by the rudest man ever!! said we were not on list I just said we had booked at check in at reception... well he went off on one, had a raised voice the whole way through the restaurant everyone was looking just before I sat I said excuse me it’s not our fault if your reception staff have not left you over a list of guests for breakfast his reply was I can’t trust the staff use the app I was on our first vacation as like many others and to come and get verbal abuse was shocking . I was mortified walking through the restaurant felt entirely belittled and disheartened put a complete downer on my holiday. when the breakfast arrived there was raw rasher, sausage and eggs on plate. Mr big shot was going around asking everyone is everything okay, and if someone complained or looked for something he passed them off completely disregarding anything anyone was saying. Also the amount of dirty dishes on tables for the whole duration of our breakfast was disgusting. I took photos. I did receive €100 back but this is absolutely outrageous and not alone that seen the junkies in the hotel lobby down by the toilets, did not feel safe at all especially as I had my 3 children with me. My husband alerted the staff that they were there.i know the junkies are an issue but a whole 2 nights listening to them shouting and screaming and seen more willies that I can imagine, and taking drugs would not recommend this hotel to anyone
