A wonderful host made us feel so welcome when we arrived earlier than planned. We were shown to our rooms and assured of ample tea and coffee, and some food suitable for my colleague. Directions given to a local park were enthusiastically given. Friendliness is found here in abundance. We were going to order a taxi for our appointment in...

I stayed here for one night as I was doing a course in a hospital nearby. I arrived very late (10pm but the host was very friendly and welcoming, and booked me a taxi for the next day). It's a grand place for what I needed, but not somewhere you'd go on holidays to. Of course I arrived late and...

We are glad that you had a pleasant stay and it is a pity you had so little time. You are correct that our coffee and tea making facilities are in our breakfast room and our guests can take their refreshments to their rooms. We also have a biscuit jar for their enjoyment. We do this, because we keep fresh...

Firstly on arrival, Barry greeted us. He is so helpful and very knowledgeable. Bed was extremely comfortable. Nice, airy clean room. Lovely beds with fresh bed linen. Nice powerful shower. Breakfast was generous and well cooked. Along with a hot full Irish we had options of cereals and yoghurt. Happy days. Thanks Barry.

Thank you so much for your kind words and especially in going to the trouble of submitting these. It is just so rewarding when this happens as we never ask our guests to do this. So delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you back with us againg. Warmest regards. Barry and Goretti, Mariaville House, Cork City.

Had a very pleasant stay in Mariaville House B&B. Nice welcome from Goretti & Barry, great host & hostess! Most helpful and friendly, nice homely atmosphere. Dining room access, guests can help themselves to tea/coffee, aside from a great breakfast offering. Great attention to detail, with a guest information book to greet you on entering your bedroom, a hotel like...

I booked a single room for 8 nights, whilst at the nearby Cork University Hospital but when I arrived I had been given a lovely twin room instead. Barry and Goretti were very accommodating allowing me to use their phone and iron. They are very knowledgeable about the area and gave me instructions to tour buses etc. The hotel is...

Nice people.. Shame about the rest. This b&b could do with a serious update and a better use of the heating.. We all slept in our clothes.. Heating should be kept on at least until 10.30, we didn't expect to have to get into bed at 8.30!!! My mother is 78 and froze.. The room needs updating. The bedding was...

Sorry. Have to hold our hands up. We were closed for the Christmas and New Year and are only getting back in to gear. You were our only guests on the night so we did do our best for you. Your other comments are taken on board and we will indeed very seriously look into all matters for New Year...

We arrived, and it turned out we had got the date wrong.. On a busy weekend. But Barry was most helpful, found us another good place to stay nearby (not an easy job), and even took the time and trouble to guide us there. Definitely going the extra distance to be a good host.

The first clue was that the front step and car park where not inviting; dirty & junkie. The front entry did not have a desk, guest book, flowers....the stairs needed at the very least a hoovering. And then there was our room...HORRIBLE. The beds did not appear to be fresh, the carpeting was filthy, a rug of some sort was...

Well Valerie, I just had another review posted on another site, saying how wonderful their stay and experience was. I guess you cannot please all of the people all of the time. I wonder is your problem more to do with being charged for the second night and that this is your payback. I have to say that I am...

Great hosts who were friendly, flexible to our needs, informative, nothing was too much trouble. Well cooked breakfast, rooms were tidy, no problems sleeping. Would happily recommend it. Easily accessible to the Airport, the City Centre (15 minute walk) and also to the Kinsale. This B&B is a safe, great value, family run establishment.

I stayed for two nights with 3 friends last weekend. The welcome on arrival was great - Barry couldn't have been more accommodating, and his recommendations on pubs, restaurants and sights to see were very helpful. It is a clean & friendly family run B&B that represents great value, and we were well looked after. The location is good being...
