Only 30 minutes from the airport, this is a really cool (old skool) hotel with a great bar and lovely restaurant. The staff are polite and helpful and I was upgraded for free so I'm coming back! Superb location right on the river and very central for shopping etc. owned by Bono so keep your eyes peeled in the bar....

Check in was very quick and efficient, rooms clean and quiet, Breakfast was perfekt, though the restaurant, where it was served very dark. Temple bar is only a one minute walk so perfect for night live. Had rooms on the 4th floor to the back with balcony! were really nice, we will return!!!

I Expected more, because of the owners and the "Rock'n'Roll Hotel" Status that Has the clearence in the Internet. There Are no pictures of U2 or something.... It's very clear - and clean. Minimalism Stil for it's best. The only Dekorated Highlight is the breakfastroom/Bar. I was very impressed! I think the Area around the Hotel is Perfect To go...

Checked in and got upgraded to a suite. All I have to say is it's my first time here but won't be my last. The staff are extremely helpful without getting on your nerves. Great breakfast and had the sweet potato chips in the Octagon bar... They were fab. Thank you The Clarence and all the staff... We will be...

We will definitely stay here again. Great value for money. Beautiful hotel. You really feel like you have taken a step back in time. Noise was never an issue as it is the other end of temple bar from the popular noisy venues. Highly recommend this hotel.

Had a gorgeous night in the Clarence for my husbands bday. Delicious dinner in Cleaver East and comfortable relaxing stay in the river suite - amazing views of the Liffey. As Dubliners, we never usually get the chance to enjoy the Dublin sights! Only down side was the music from the night club - but this is to be expected...

Sian, thanks for choosing the Clarence for your recent break to celebrate your husbands birthday. The Riverview Suites certainly offer a great view along the Liffey. It's a pity to read about the one downside you mention and I hope it didn't detract too much from your stay.

Right on the edge of temple bar, close to all amenities and staff are very friendly, the bar is quiet, however being next to temple bar, there are more entertaining places to go. The room was large, quiet and very clean. Enjoyed our stay here.

The hotel is a great location and that is where it stops. If you are driving to it and need parking its a pain in the neck, also add 15 Euros a day for 24 hours to your bill. The bar and restaurant are tired and serioiusly lack atmosphere, Thursday night in Dublin and at 1030 we were the only...

I'm disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your recent stay at The Clarence. We have 2 parking options for The Clarence. One being the self parking in a nearby multi-storey at the reduced rate offered to hotel guests, or valet parking which is also off site and at a higher cost. Our rooms vary in size, with our...

Bono's ownership of this hotel drew us to this hotel. Bono was travelling and we missed our view of the great man but in every other way a great hotel to stay in. The Clarence is a very nice hotel in a great location. Service was excellent. Our room overlooked the river with a wonderful view. It was simply and perfectly appointed with nice amenities. We were on a higher floor so this kept the street/bar noise down to a minimum. The shower was forceful and hot and the bed was comfortable. There...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Clarence boasts fifty bedrooms and suites, along with our world famous Penthouse Suite. Our rooms range from Classic through Deluxe and on to our River View and Garden Terrace Suites. Our furnishings are simple: classic Shaker oak, beds dressed in cool white linen, sitting elegantly in contrast to a palate of vibrant cardinal colours, rich drapes and luxe carpets. We aim to provide all the simple needs of our guests and we offer 'round the clock room service and all rooms have complimentary WiFi as standard. Our city centre location means car space is at a premium, but we do have a small underground car park that can be reserved for a small nightly supplement. It is also worth noting that our location does mean that the area can be lively at night, especially at the weekends and while we have taken every effort to reduce noise, it is not possible to block it all out. Please do consider this before booking. Within the hotel complex there are many drinking and dining experiences, from the chilled out bliss of The Study to the super stylish Octagon Bar, the perfect spot for an afternoon cocktail or a laid back nightcap. We also have Michelin star chef Oliver Dunne's Cleaver East restaurant within our walls and we are very proud that Oliver and his team provide all catering at the hotel, so whether it's a late night bite in your room or a Full Irish breakfast the next morning, you know your food will be of the highest standard, made from the freshest produce, closely cared for by Michelin starred hands. In the bowels of our building you will find the luxurious cocktail and food bar The Liquor Rooms, home to Dublin's arts set and the first ROI bar ever to be nominated in the prestigious Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. On our first floor, overlooking the River Liffey lies The Cleaver East Suite at The Clarence, which can be reserved for special occasions, from large weddings to intimate business meetings. ... more   less
