The Dublin Skylon Hotel garners mixed reactions, with its cleanliness earning high praise for spotless rooms and well-kept facilities. While the hotel's atmosphere is generally considered positive, some guests feel the decor could use an update. Room comfort has been a point of contention due to noise and maintenance issues, despite the convenience of amenities like tea and coffee provisions.
The location is a hit with many for its accessibility to key points in the city, though the value proposition is debated, given the room quality and additional costs like parking. Service quality at the hotel varies, with instances of both commendation and critique.

Detailed Reviews
I stayed for one night, mid-week in January, in the Skylon Hotel, Dublin, with my husband and we were both very happy with the standard of accommodation and service during our stay and the price we paid for the room. We enjoyed secure parking, a spacious, quiet and well appointed room, comfortable and warm areas in the hotel for reading and relaxing, and excellent food in the hotel bar - an evening meal and breakfast. The hotel menus offered lots of choice and all courses were fairly priced. We thought the courses were generous servings, appetising and represented very good value for money. In addition, the service and atmosphere in the hotel bar was excellent. A special mention and thank you to Nima, Duty Manager, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to look after us. She was professional and courteous in her role at all times and very pleasant. Nima is truly an asset to the Skylon Hotel and made our stay extra special. Overall, we couldn't have asked for more in terms of the standard of service and accommodation we enjoyed during our short stay. The hotel's standard check out time of midday was generous and we appreciated it. We also loved the hotel's central location, just outside the city centre, and the fact that it is well served by many buses. We plan to return to the hotel at a later date having had a relaxing and pleasant stay there in the past week.

Hotel's Favourite
Absolutely fantastic hotel with great hospitality from arriving early to find our room was available. The room was very comfortable with a very comfortable bed with great pillows. The walk in shower was amazing and the toiletries were my favourite from Rituals. We will definitely be returning next year and can’t wait.

The room was well-appointed and comfortable. Check-in was smooth and an early arrival for two rooms found one available and used as storage until the other was ready. The breakfast buffet was very complete and the table servers were competent at 7:30 AM to allow me to enjoy breakfast without delay before my early departure. I had the impression that the hotel was near the airport when they mentioned "airport taxi", but it is a 22-euro cab ride and closer to the city center. Many restaurants nearby.

I booked and prepaid for 8 nights at this hotel, requesting and receiving confirmation of early check-in.
Upon arrival after a 9 hour international flight, the front desk was friendly... but the room wasn't ready. I had two hours before an appointment, so I used the lobby bathroom to wash my face and change.
The front desk tagged my bags and said they would be in my room once I returned 12+ hours later.
I return around 9pm... get my key from the front desk. Bags are not in my room. I return downstairs to pick up my bags and am ready to get sleep. Unfortunately, the room is filled with cigarette smoke and quite warm. I open the window, but the hotel allows smoking directly in front of the hotel and the cigarette smoke continues to filter into the room. The hotel restaurant, bar, and lobby are full of people (Tuesday night - great business for them but unfortunate for guests looking to sleep), so an open window brings in the street noise and the people noise from the hotel... and more cigarette smoke.
The hotel was fully booked, so the manager informed me that there were no other rooms and that all King rooms face the front, so the noise and cigarette smoke would be a constant no matter the room.
I requested a full refund for my 8 nights (the manger was quick and helpful to complete the refund) and took myself to the Shelbourne at 10pm. At least I would be able to breathe cigarette-free air in my room and trust that the staff care more about their guests comfort rather than those paying for one or two bar drinks.
If you don't mind noise and smoke, this is your place.
I would recommend the hotel prioritize their guest comfort and request smokers to a designated smoking area away from the front doors and hotel rooms.

Stayed at the Skylon for one night recently. Nice enough hotel, pleasant lobby and bar/restaurant area. Dinner and breakfast were average, but for a four star hotel it was lacking that personal touch throughout that you would expect.
Room was nice but the heat was unbearable on the night we stayed, thankfully a fan was supplied in the room, but we had to leave it on all night as even with a window open it was too hot.
Parking is available onsite, and the hotel is in a good location and is reasonably priced for a Dublin stay.

We used this hotel as a base for 1 night when attending Pink concert but I would definitely return.
Great location
Lovely rooms (with fridge added bonus)
Comfy beds and pillows
Carparking available for €10 a night
Bus stops so close to take you into the city centre.
Pleasant staff on reception.
A lidel next door and a convenience store across the road.
Check out at 12pm (huge added bonus 😀)

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel. Upon check in the staff member did not speak good English and at times this came across as abrasive and unhelpful. I enquired if any of the rooms had a bath as that would be my preference and they said yes, but it would be 60 euros payment extra on top of what we already paid. I felt this was unreasonable and declined. On one other occasion I approached reception to ask for decaff coffee and was dismissed and told reception dont deal with that and they sent me into the bar to ask again. Yet again the staff could not understand my request as English was not their first language. We were unimpressed by the room as it was smaller than the picture appeared and the bed mattress did not feel luxurious. The room was cold and there was no way of changing the temperature. The view was unattractive. I have stayed in much better budget hotel rooms. The worst for us was that we have been ill for 2 days since having the hotel breakfast buffet (which cost £30 extra) The manager is adamant that our illness was not linked to the hotel but I respectfully disagree. For these reasons I would not consider this hotel if I was staying in Dublin again.

Thank you for your review, stephenhG3352UL It is disappointing to see that you did not have a pleasant stay with us. We clearly remember that the Manager on duty contacted you by phone regarding the food poisoning complaint. He has followed the standard procedure in cases like these, and informed you that daily HACCP tests and hourly food probing were completed & recorded. All our food was compliant with the health & safety standards. Also, our manager advised you to consult a specialist doctor & inform us about the outcome of this consultation, as we have not received any other such complaints from other customers. This is the first time we have read about the customer service issues you mentioned in your review. We will take these comments on board and go over our customer service training with our staff and we would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this issue. Best regards, Mandar - Guest Relations

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the skyline hotel. The 10-year-old parking right in front was very convenient it was it was very easy to walk to nearby, grocery stores and restaurants. The staff was very friendly, even allowing us to check in very early since our flight arrived early in the morning there was free drinking water in the room. The breakfast was tasty. We would happily stay there again.

Came here for my 69th birthday,, Excellent overall. Friendly helpful staff. On arrival no problem parking in safe car Park at Hotel at 10 euros per night. Room was excellent, clean comfortable. bed excellent re firmness. light switches only on one side of the bed, so whoever sleeps that side had full control of light,, LOL LOL. Only a minor issue. great cold fridge. Complimentary water, tea, coffee, biscuits . Went to the bar for evening Snack, which was excellent, Chicken wings large for one and the other The Scampi, which there was plenty and was scampi. Breakfast was excellent re quality of food, only slight issue was the heat containers could have been a bit hotter for the food. Otherwise a great variety of cold and hot items. Nicely located Hotel for access from the North, and then Public Buses straight from the hotel into City Centre. I have given it 4 stars nearly 5 stars, but for the cool hot food on some of the hot containers. Forgot to tell reception toilet seat loose in room 407...Will stay again in April

The hotel was ok. The few staff we did encounter were nice but no one really went above and beyond.
The hotel is located between the airport and central Dublin it’s €15-25 in taxi depending which way and how far you go. Or it’s an 40 min walk with hills so wear comfy shoes. Alternatively you can take the bus they ONLY take coins or the bus card so just be aware. It’s €2.60 per person for a long journey as they base fares on a short or long journey.
Would I stay here again? Probably not.
Would I recommend to a friend? Probably not.
I think you’d be able to find a hotel nearer to the centre for a similar cost as didn’t feel it was great value for money; the room was a bit worn and torn and like I said the few staff who we interacted with were nice and the location is a bit out of the way.

Unfortunately, we do not have air conditioning in the rooms. To ensure safety, the windows are designed to be opened for ventilation purposes only. It is important to note that they cannot be fully opened to avoid any potential hazards.
There is certainly 24hr reception, so I would think you can. It may be worth a call or email to warn them you will be that late.
Hope that helps, it's a lovely hotel.
Hi. I'm afraid I don't know the exact answer to this. However If you get an airport coach it will drop you quite a way past the hotel, leaving you with a good 10/15 min walk. However I have caught an ordinary bus service from airport into Drumchondra/city centre which takes you right past hotel and there is a bus stop very close by the hotel. Cheaper and more convenient. Good luck.
Parking is €8 per 24 hours, so you can take your car in or out as often as necessary. Hope to have you come to stay with us soon
