The Mespil Hotel garners appreciation for its prime location near attractions and the canal, despite some guests finding it slightly removed from the city center. Its welcoming atmosphere, coupled with modern amenities, provides a comfortable and stylish stay. The hotel's cleanliness and meticulous upkeep often receive high marks, as does the professional and warm service provided by the staff. Rooms are celebrated for their spaciousness and comfort, although remarks about dated decor and temperature control do surface. While opinions on value vary, the amenities, including luxurious bathroom products and quality breakfast, are widely praised.

I spent a long time researching hotel options for our recent visit to Dublin, and am soooo glad I chose the Mespil Hotel. Can’t say enough about it! As mentioned in other reviews, the staff is absolutely exceptional….as good (if not better) than you’d find in a Ritz Carlton (the standard in the U.S.) I hesitate to mention a name…because every single one was wonderful…but Joao at the front desk truly went above and beyond in making our stay a perfect one. But everyone else from the reservations staff to front desk to restaurant to housekeepers was extraordinary.

Yes, the hotel is a bit of a distance from City Center, but the upside is that you are in a quieter, less congested area and the cost is definitely less than a comparable property in that location. You can walk to the Center in 20 minutes or so, or grab a taxi that’s almost always waiting out front.

We were in one of the recently-renovated rooms and it was lovely with the most modern of amenities. The breakfast (that was complimentary with the rate we chose) was top notch and a great way to start the day. Again, the wait staff was great.

It was a plus to have room service available until 10:00 pm. The lounge/bar is also such a nice amenity to have available.

I’d give this hotel 6 stars if I could. Stop your search…this is the one.

We booked a last minute night away for ourselves and received complimentary breakfast as part of a spring offer the hotel had on (we booked direct). We arrived early and were able to check in to our room, it was amazing! The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom was spotless and there were even welcoming sweets left by the housekeeping staff telling us to enjoy our stay. We had cocktails that evening in the lounge, would definitely recommend the "Something Breeze". The selection at breakfast was outstanding and the staff were all lovely. Will definitely be returning on our next trip to Dublin!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Mespil.
Our room was a great size and very comfortable.

We found every part of the hotel to be well presented and spotlessly clean.

We had a great nights sleep. There was little or no outside noise and most surprisingly were didn’t hear any noise from other guests.

Breakfast was very good and we were pleased that we were greeted warmly and staff went out of their way to seat us at the best available table. There was a large range of breakfast options and staff were constantly checking that everything was available and fresh.

As with the majority of the other reviews we found the staff to be excellent. All staff always had a smile and were happy to help.

I wouldn’t hesitate recommending the Mespil Hotel and we will certainly return the next time we’re in Dublin.

We stayed in a family room in the Mespil for 3 nights in August. We had been before so knew in advance it was going to be enjoyable. We certainly were not disappointed! The room was spacious and spotless, and the care and attention to detail each day was greatly appreciated. The measures taken as a result of Covid were evident without being off-putting, and were reassuring from the hand sanitiser stations to the staff wearing visors and pre-booked breakfast - speaking of which there was a great range on offer and everything was cooked to perfection. The lounge bar had a relaxed atmosphere, with drinks served to the table. All of the staff were extremely helpful and polite. Special mention has to be given to Michelle, who interacted with our daughter from admiring her doll to asking what she had done that day. Our daughter really looked forward to seeing Michelle at reception each day to share her latest adventures. It really made the stay extra special. The hotel is ideally located, the local area has a great feeling, and it is within easy walking distance to the centre. We would not dream of staying anywhere else.

Visited here for 3 nights, it’s a wonderful hotel, very modern and clean, friendly staff and great facilities. Room (triple room) was very spacious, comfy bed, great modern flatscreen tv (can be a bit finicky to work), nice shower (pressure could’ve been a bit better) and good amenities (shower gels, shampoos, soap, coffee/tea making facilities). The staff were very friendly and the breakfast (for an additional 14 euros if you buy it the night before) is very good and plenty of hot/cold options. The bar is also very nice and open late however it is expensive although this can be understood due to the hotel and surrounding area. The hotel is about a 25 minute walk to the centre of Dublin (temple bar area) and has various food and drink places within 5/10 min walk from the hotel too. Would definitely return.

A last minute trip, with lasting memories! I stayed in the Mespil on Saturday night last, the hotel was fabulous - the staff were so accommodating to me and my young nephew (6). We decided to have an unplanned night away to give his parents a break, it was so lovely. Michelle greeted us upon arrival and gave us such a warm welcome, my nephew received a pirate pack and they didn’t forget me with some chocolates!

The room was gorgeous, facing the canal! We went for dinner in the lounge where Simone, the waiter was fabulous - he even pulled out a couple of magic tricks! My nephew was seeking out both Michelle and Simone the following morning, we had breakfast and the kids menu was really lovely, even during Covid it felt warm and not clinical, yet the practices in place were great (visor/gloves on each member of staff, handgel at every door/lift).

Thanks so much to the staff, you are doing a fabulous job 💫

I stayed at the Mespil Hotel for a night to save myself a commute and to catch up on some sleep. I stay in hotels/B&B's every few weeks and never feel the need to write a review but unfortunately, for the price I paid, I was disappointed by my stay.

Noise in a hotel is to be expected but it just woke me up so many times throughout the night - doors slamming, a constant buzzing sound (like a boiler running sound). This is topped with the fact that the cleaners start cleaning the adjacent rooms at around 7.30/8 in the morning?? This disrupts other guests and isn't fair to be honest. I understand that you have to clean but what's the point in providing a check-out time of 12pm when you're disrupting customers?

I also paid for breakfast but when I went to the restaurant, the staff were quite inattentive and the breakfast isn't something I would pay €15 for, to be honest. Many customers had to ask for things multiple times which left many of us frustrated. I couldn't wait around for service (as coffee, tea etc aren't freely available - you have to ask and even so, I wasn't offered what was advertised).

The price of staying in the hotel is extortionate for the service provided and unfortunately, I won't be staying here again.

Visited the Mespil on Friday night with my boyfriend and his parents. The hotel is gorgeous. It's modern and cosy at the same time. John greeted us at reception. He is friendly, courteous and is clearly an asset to the hotel. During our stay he was helping out in all areas of the hotel, the bar, the breakfast room, room service and reception. He really added to our stay.
The COVID-19 regulations are being followed to the highest degree here. Everywhere is spotless, all tables are apart, you can see a staff member regularly sanitising touch points, masks worn by staff and sanitiser everywhere. It made us feel comfortable.
The rooms are neat and spacious. The bed was cosy and the air con in the room was controllable which was handy.
We had a complimentary drink as part of our package. Blase (I think, in the lounge) was excellent. He made us any drink we wanted and was so polite and happy to look after us. We really enjoyed our drinks.
Breakfast the next morning was tasty. It was a standard menu. Sylwia served us. She was attentive and efficient.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have agreed that we will most definitely be back. I couldn't pick out one fault. The butler's chocolate on arrival was a particularly nice touch. Well done to everyone at the mespil for an amazingly high standard of customer service. It's really putting you streets ahead of the competition.

Me and my wife stayed here this weekend Friday 28th and 29th of January, the hotel had limited parking spaces but we were able to find a space in the side street and only had to pay parking for 2 hours up to 18.30 Friday as free for the weekend. When approaching the check in desk the girl behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. The room on check in was very clean and tidy and a decent size. Bath robes and complimentary water bottles and coffee pods/tea bags available along with a hotel safe and iron, board, kettle, coffee pod machine cups and water glasses.

Breakfast was exceptionally good I had a buffett of hot food served to me full irish with hash browns. All food seemed to be changed regularly and hot. This foor is served to you. A good selection of pasteries, yogharts, individually boxed mini cereals, fruit and breakfast drinks available all fresh and nice. Breakfast was a hit on both morninings and the staff are very quick to get you seated and sorted out.

Every member of staff passing would greet you and say hello, we felt very safe with the covid restrictions and i would highly recoomend staying here.

We booked the 'Mespil' as it seemed to be in a reasonable location and in fairness, it was a pleasant walk into St. Stephen's Green and taxis/Ubers were plentiful. We booked a Superior Executive King Room so were probably hoping for more than the room offered. It wasn't particularly large, superior or executive but the room was compact and comfortable, the shower powerful even though water leaked everywhere and it was quiet. The Nespresso coffee machine needs a degree qualification to use (to switch it on, the button is right at the back on the bottom left side). The. coffee was drinkable once you mastered the machine. The safe was large to take a laptop and easy to use and the Rituals shampoo and shower gel pleasant. The bed was particularly comfortable and the wifi was fine. The public areas seemed pleasant enough but we didn't use any of the facilities, preferring to be out in Dublin and using the hotel as a base. There was what we thought was a low level Varsity football match taking place in Dublin the week-end we were there so the city was swarming with Nebraskans and the opposing team. Pleasant enough and enjoying Dublin as they were, their visit was used as an excuse to inflate hotel prices and whereas the room would have been reasonable value at £150 a night if it included breakfast, charging £250 a night (approximately E300 a night) without breakfast was something of a 'rip off.' I would happily stay at the 'Mespil' again but now I know what it offers, would bring it within expectations and be very wary of inflated prices!
