My daughter never told us the name of the Hotel that we were staying in Dublin. Upon walking through the front doors, I stopped, and looked at my daughter. With a big grin of her face, she said, "I thought you would like this". There in front of me, the floor in the foyer was tile in the symbol of Freemasonry worldwide, the Square and Compasses. I was Worshipful Mason of my Lodge back in New Jersey and my daughter knew this would mean a lot to me. The Hotel was fantastic, not in city center, but easy to get to, as we used Uber. Everything about the hotel was Class. Dinners were the finest. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Hotel itself is great. Food is good. Did not like our room on the ground floor. Previous water damage in carpet and window was cracked. We started sneezing as soon as we entered the room. Needs to refinish the ground floor rooms. Location is spectacular and the history is interesting. I woulc just ask for a room that isn't on the ground floor

Beautiful building and grounds. Great Location. With that said hotel is run down. Our room was dark, and dirty. Mold in bathrooms. Had to use stairs because one elevator was broken and other elevator could not handle the amount if people staying at hotel. We were so glad to check out of there. I dont recommend this hotel at all. Stay away.

Stayed in the Clayton in Ballsbridge for 4 nights and I couldn't recommend it more. Room was spacious and had a beautiful view. At breakfast for the 3 morning I had it, I was greeted by a lovely Abbie who helped us with everything we needed whether it was coffee, maps or advice on tourists spots. She made our trip a lot more enjoyable. The rest of the staff were so pleasant. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

Very friendly staff. Nice rooms. Good location. We were able to check in early after an overnight flight from the US. The staff were very helpful helping us acclimate. We have a full size and twin bed in our room. The only negative is the lack of power outlets near the beds. I had to go across the room to plug in my CPAP machine. Luckily I had long enough cords.

We were treated to a 3 day stay by family based on their past experience. To be honest when I read a few recent reviews I was a bit apprehensive. Needn't have worried. The hotel is very well located for transport links in a lovely part of Dublin. I was stressed about parking as we were arriving late and couldn't prebook a space. Needn't have worried there was plenty of room ( not sure how it would be on a match day!) First impressions friendly cheerful helpful staff at the desk. Everyone we met was the same. Spotlessly clean as was the room we stayed in on the 3rd floor, newer part of the building I think. Only one lift working but we knew that in advance and it didn't hinder our aging legs! The stairs when we used them were easy to negotiate. The only downside was the restaurant evening meals. The team were lovely and the food was good but I expected more. On our first night we had fish and chips....don't recommend, the chips were barely lukewarm and the fish had been cooked for too long, on the other hand the following night our food was lovely so a bit inconsistent! Plus we had to sit in the bar to eat so while convenient to be able to eat at the hotel for some reason they didn't open the restaurant section in the evening! Overall would definitely visit again but perhaps be a bit more assertive if the food isn't up to scratch.…

Family of four … placed in a cramped family room of two double beds, in a room which is frankly tired and in need of some good housekeeping and decoration. The bathroom was disgusting with mould and grime all over the tiles around the bath/shower. Drain in sink was clogged and toilet had seen better days. Frankly not up to other Clayton standards. Worst of all was the rudeness of the checkin staff. No pleasantries…. Just what seemed to come across was a plain and simple give me your money. I questioned the fact that the booking didn’t seem to include breakfast to which the bark came back …. If you want it that’ll be another €68 (2 adults and 2 children). Not what I expected after paying €370 for 1 night. When we checked out I was asked by the same member of staff … was everything ok …. To which I replied ‘not really’ …. The reply was a simple ‘well have a safe trip home ..’ Certainly no plans to return and there are much better options to choose from around Dublin. Clayton please sort this out !…

My family enjoyed a great stay at this hotel during Dublin horseshow week. Its right beside the venue. The hotel is an impressive building with nice grounds. Our 5th floor room was clean, spacious and had everything you would expect from a top hotel. The double and single beds were really comfortable. Breakfast was impressive with lots of variety. Also found the hotel staff really helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Quite an historic building, with a worthy investment in bringing it up to date. But our faucet wasn't anchored to the sink, the tub drain was clogged, and when we pointed it out, maintenance didn't show up until we mentioned a second time to the desk clerk. Worst of all, the elevator didn't work when we first arrived and no one told us that you have to insert your key card to turn on the electricity in the room. Somehow we were just supposed to know that. This shows a level of indifference on the part of management. They seem to derive their income from large groups and don't care about personalized service.

We stayed 2 nights. PROS: ~Manager Phillip was professional and courteous when taking care of us after we had to change our room. Giving us a newly renovated room on a top floor. ~Receiving a complimentary meal for the inconvenience, the restaurant manager Victor went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and relaxed after our ordeal. The dinner served was delicious!!! If you dine there make sure you ask for Victor and if you want a fantastic bartender ask for Luca!! ~Also, the breakfast was a top notch business breakfast buffet style, with an assortment of choices. CONS: ~First staying in an non renovated room, the glass shower door came off the hinge. ~The overall vibe feels best suited for a business stay versus a couples stay, with no pool and a great space for business meetings downstairs of the main lobby. BUT, we would stay there again for sure. We’d even recommend stopping into the restaurant for a meal and a drink “just because”. Again, make sure to ask for Victor and Luca. They were fantastic! :-D…
