The Beckett Locke hotel garners mixed feedback; many guests commend its spacious accommodations and the quality service provided, though opinions on value for money are divided, with some finding the pricing steep considering occasional inconsistencies. While the rooms are praised for their modern amenities and comfort, critiques do arise regarding lighting and maintenance. Cleanliness stands out positively among reviewers, as does the friendly staff, despite some reports of service being hit-or-miss. The hotel's atmosphere near music venues can be vibrant yet noisy, but its prime location near the 3Arena and tram stops is often highlighted as a major plus for visitors.

Highly recommended!

The trip from Canada started with our hotel. On the way to the 7th floor, where we had our studio, the lift stopped on the 4th floor and couldn't go up. So we had to return down. Then, we repeated this sequence twice. After that, someone got into the elevator and explained that before using it, we had to put the magnetic card in the place with the buttons. After turning on the green diode, you could choose the floor you were going to.
I entered the stuffy studio and looked for the air conditioning switch. The darkness added to the problem. After all, apart from one lamp, the rest did not work. I think it took us half an hour to look for the switch. We found a type of glass built into the wall, but there were no descriptions of how to activate it. Frustrated, I went to the reception to complain, as there was no telephone in the room. I was informed that a plastic compartment is attached to the entrance door where the magnetic card should be inserted. We didn't notice it in the dark corridor and put the magnetic card on the table. Now everything finally became apparent, and the air conditioning controls appeared when I pressed my finger on the glass screen. It happened by coincidence because there was no information about what this glass was used for.
The TV built into the side wall was lovely, but only after pulling it out and bending the arm forward half a meter. It was probably 20 inches long, and I was brave enough to pull it out of the wall. Fortunately, I had no problems with the remote control.
The fridge freezer was very handy at hand height. Two glasses, cutlery, plates, pots, laundry, and dishwashing detergent made us feel at home. The studio was small but perfectly adequate for a few days' stay.
The microwave was another story; it took another half an hour to turn it on and set the desired temperature and heating time. There are only three symbols: a circle, a triangle and a dash...
It was much more manageable with the washing machine but worse with the dryer, which constituted one unit.
In the bathroom, the rinsing water came from rainwater collected on the roof, an adorable and ecological/friendly idea. The shower was great, but getting into it was not tricky. You had first to close the bathroom door to open the shower’s glass door. Perhaps a wiser idea would be to mount doors backwards so they don't block each other. The towel rail was heated, which was a pleasant surprise. As is the overall cleanliness.
The steel safe added even more sense of security, as did the entrance to the hotel at night, which was opened with the same card.

The great staff helped us to accommodate our luggage 2h before check-in. Friendly smiles greeted us everywhere!

Great hotel that I recommend to everyone!

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review here, we love to hear from our guests. We are delighted to hear you loved your apartment and found everything you needed for our time away from home. We are sorry to hear you had some issues operating the oven/microwave, Our reception team is always on hand to help with anything you need and even have "how to" videos for all the appliances on request for your convenience. We are also sorry to know that the info about the key card for the lift & electricity wasn't communicated at check-in time and thank you for highlighting this with us as it is important for us to know our guests always experience high value during their stay. Overall, we are thrilled to know our hosts were friendly and helpful and that they could check you in before you expected. We hope you had an amazing time in Dublin and you enjoyed exploring our lovely city. We can't wait to welcome you again in the future! Kind regards, Laura & The Beckett Locke Team.

This hotel is suited at the Docklands which provides quick and easy access to all services and entertainment that Dublin has to offer.

The check in process was quick and easy and we were treated perfectly well by the staff. We arrived earlier than the check-in time but the staff provided us with storage for our many, many bags and prepared an apartment for us whilst we enjoyed lunch in the restaurant. The receptionist alerted us once the apartment was available and we received assistance in moving out luggage to our apartment.

The apartments are very clean and well equipped with all the necessities for any sort of stay in the hotel. Room service is provided once a week but cleaning utilities and appliances are provided. Bins are collected on a daily basis.

The location of the hotel enabled us to access a variety of stores to purchase any items that we needed for our long stay at the hotel. The apartment has smart TV which allowed us to entertain the kids with their favourite shows and movies.

The only negative about the stay was the bed. The mattress did seem worn out and we often woke up with stiff backs. The bed is lower to the ground than expected which is great for the kids but heavy on your back as a 1.8m tall person.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Check out was a breeze and the very friendly and helpful staff assisted in loading our many, many bags in the taxi for the next part of our journey.

We will definitely visit the hotel for a couples weekend.

Hi Damian, thank you for leaving such a detailed review, I'm sure other travellers will find your information very helpful 🙂 We are indeed in the docklands area of the city, right beside the red line tram which travels into the central shopping area. So glad to know our location was convenient for you all during your time here. We're delighted to know you had everything you needed in your apartment and that the smart tv came in handy for entertaining the kids. I'm sorry to hear the bed was not comfortable for you, I will be sure to check your apartment as the mattress itself is new. Our bed frames are quite low to the ground which is a design feature, but I understand how it might feel low if you are 1.8m tall. I hope this did not take away from your overall comfort and enjoyment during your stay with us and that you left with happy memories of your time at Beckett Locke. Big thanks from all the team and we hope to welcome you back again in future 🙂

My partner and I were already very excited to be visiting Dublin for the first time but even more excited to be staying at Beckett Locke especially since it had just opened a week prior to our visit. The pictures online don't do this place justice. It's the perfect cute/chic modern hotel with so many incredible amenities compared to an average hotel. The atmosphere from the minute you walk in the door is so calming by the smell and music they have playing in the lobby. There are many places to sit and relax to chat with friends, work on a school project or have a business call. It's in the perfect area, a couple of steps away from the tram (which takes you right to the city center), restaurants and shops nearby and right by the river (the view is incredible)! The only con was that I was disappointed to see multiple stains in our room and kitchen area which lead me to believe that our room wasn't thoroughly cleaned beforehand and in order for my stay to be comfortable I had to buy disinfecting wipes and clean all the surfaces myself. Aside from that, we can't wait to visit this city again!

excellent hotel. the staff were outstanding. the open floor lobby and lounge area is fantastic - lots of seating options for hanging or for food service. vendors are outsourced so coffee care, bar, and the restaurant are all of higher quality. rooms are spacious, modern, generously equipped for a one or two night stay and would be really good for those staying longer (you can cook in your room and there is a washer). Raw, concrete ceilings with exposed piping and edgy design make the feel of the place very hip and current. Location is a little removed from temple bar area but 15 - 20 minute walk along the river is worth it. easy access to airport b/c you don't have to deal with bridge crossings. some food options in the area but don't go to Ryleigh's steakhouse - food was the most uninteresting i've had in ireland. such a shame. oh well. the views are lovely but if you could go for just a drink or appetizer, that is the way to play it.

What a superb place to stay. Chantal, checked me, my wife and two kids into our Apartment in speedy time, she was so helpful and kind. (Which was a relief after a long drive) she helped us get our bearings and sorted us out with the best car parking option, with an overnight discount. This place is exceptional, everywhere is spotlessly clean and staff are friendly and kind.

The downstairs lounge, cafe and bar are divine, a great vibe and decor is lovely. We stayed for 1 night with two kids and wish we booked for longer. Our Apartment was two bedrooms with two bathrooms, kitchen and small lunge areas it was so comfortable and spacious, showers are massive and lovely products. Kids slept sound with no issues.

The location is perfect! There is a Starbucks and little shop straight outside for essentials. We had a drink in the downstairs bar in the evening and coffee from the cafe in the morning, there is such a fab vibe in the cafe and bar. There is a red line Luas (tram) right outside in front of the door! It took us straight into town for shopping and dinner in the evening. We used it for a trip to the zoo and the museum EPIC.

We had such a comfortable stay and so did our two kids aged 9 and 6! They had an absolute blast from start to finish. We have already booked our next stay to go back in January sales as the location is perfect for going in and out to Grafton / O’Connell street.

Huge thank you to Chantal who helped us get settled in so quickly. We can’t wait to go back!

Great hotel situated next to a very frequent mode of transport in to the city centre. it is also right next to the 3 Arena but has the added benefit of noise not bothering you at all if you are not attending a show - rooms are very well soundproofed and we didn't hear any noise either from other rooms or from outside the hotel during our 3 night stay.

Hotel is also the most eco friendly one I have stayed at - from using filtered rainwater for the toilets, to using bamboo toilet paper throughout the hotel, and providing recycling facilities in all apartments.

This would be my first choice of hotel should I visit Dublin again and was also one of the cheapast options available to me at the time of booking,

I have only rated Value down as this is based on costs of hotels in other cities - Dublin is notoriously expensive to stay in but this was still one of the lower priced options. Try booking direct for a better price.

Although a fair way out of the centre of town, €19.50 for a 3 day travel card that even covered the return airport fare was a godsend. I actually preferred this location to some "noisier ones" we had stayed in closer to town. Staff - 10/10. Room 9.5/10. Shared area between the two bedrooms could have been a bit bigger, however, we didn't spend too great an amount of time just sat in the accommodation so it didn't have much of a bearing on our enjoyment of this superb place. Shower was great and it had everything else we required to hand.

I had a warm welcome from Giorgia at reception on arrival. I had a cosy, comfortably sized studio on the top floor with all you need for a stay - TV (with Chromecast, so you can cast off your phone), high speed wifi, tea and coffee, shower gel and shampoo/conditioner, and a hair dryer. The bed was comfy and there are blackout curtains. There’s also all the mod cons you’d have at home - fridge, cooker, oven, dishwasher, kettle and a washing machine. It’s literally like a home from home. There’s even a yoga mat in the room, which I felt was a nice touch! They’ve got workout facilities on site which you can book for just yourself, as well as a cafe/bar and co-working space where you can eat in as well. You can also order a takeaway in, or cook in your studio. The location makes it easy to get the tram into town, and you can buy a ticket by the tram stop. Worth looking into ticket prices, so you can buy the right ticket/s to get around, and it’s really easy to get into the city centre. There were also a few supermarkets nearby, Tesco was about a 10 minute walk, and a M&S a few tram stops away. I’d definitely stay with Locke again.

Beckett Locke is a modern looking apartment building with 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. For our stay, we had a 2 bedroom that we shared with friends for a 2 night stay.

We had booked early check in, but arrived way before the time we could get to our room. I spoke to the receptionist who found that they had a room ready for us already. She explained the key system, the coffee shop and bar area, and other amenities.

The living space of the room is quite generous and has a large table for dining (perhaps larger than necessary). The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer and a combi oven. The latter was a little complicated, but all the instructions we needed were available via a QR code.

The bedrooms had limited space, just enough for a double bed and a small nightstand either side. Hanging space was too low down for dresses but OK for shirts. The bathroom was large, as was the rainfall shower which heated up nicely on use. Our room had a small balcony, although not all rooms do.

The apartment had air conditioning, which could be controlled for each room; this was a useful touch. The location of the building is convenient with lots of shops and eateries around, plus the 3 arena. The tram stops right outside, which is convenient and not noisy (there were no concerts during our stay).

I'd likely have given this full marks if the bedrooms had mirrors in, or better lighting in the living area where we had a rather out of place dresser.

Pros: super clean, super nice staff.

Cons:
Check in was awkward. At 16:00 the queue was long, which is fine. I was directed to an automated kiosk to check in and the interface was clumsy and can to an error that said 'see hotel staff'... so I had to go to the back of the queue. The reception desk was only a few meters from the front doors so there was a ton of people blocking and standing in the doors making it hard for other guests to get in and out.

Location is desolate. Have to walk 15 minutes or take the tram for nearly anything. There is a small grocery that you could get basics less than 5 minutes away.

The shower may have been the most ridiculously designed in history. The glass door opened inward. Therefore, I had to squeeze around the door while it was partially opened; my back had to slide along the wall to get around it (also, I am a very slim person).

The shower temperature oscillated between the set temperature and surged to scalding hot for half a second. This happened about once a minute.

The microwave had no handle and you had to jam your fingers in the crack between the door and cabinet door to open it.

It seemed that the thermostat was on a timer or got reset after removing the card from the wall. It would be nice if the thermostat returned to the last set temperature when the card was placed back in the wall.

Doors to hall were either cheap or not fitted well to minimize sound. You could hear everyone in the hall.

Overall I can not recommend this hotel. Despite being clean and staff very nice, the above mentioned details made it a pain to stay here.

If you don't have a car, I guess the easiest way to go to Malahide is to take the DART from Connoly Station (several trains by hour, about 30' long). You can reach Connoly Station from the hotel either by a short walk (20 to 25 ') or with the tram just in front of the hotel. The DART is also very useful to visit the villages along the coast.
