Booked into hotel and was told by receptionist that ear buds are supplied free at side of bed I did not understand but coming back from dinner Realised that it is needed ! The whole hotel is one large club with loud(!) music going on till 4:30 in morning Being told that I was not their usual customer and I should have read on internet that they have music and is not a quiet hotel was not helpful Be warned you will not sleep

Should have read all of these reviews first. The noise all night was unbearable, even on a Sunday night. We could hear (and feel) the club music in our room until about 3:30am, and the provided ear plugs did not help in the slightest. We stayed in the temple bar area a few nights before this, and did not have nearly as bad a problem with noise. On top of that, this wins for the tiniest hotel room I’ve ever been in. I am 6’3 and could could easily touch 3 out of the 4 walls when I laid down on the bed. The only reason this gets a single star is because the rooftop restaurant was fantastic. I recommend just visiting the restaurant and staying somewhere else.

Hi nateparman- Thanks for sharing your feedback based on your recent visit to The Dean. I'm sorry to see that you did not enjoy your stay. We're located in a very lively part of the city that can be active until the early hours of the morning. Our ModPod rooms are compact and are designed around having everything you need for a city break without the clutter of the "non-essentials". The beds in our ModPods or PunkBunks are standard doubles, so we'd always recommend a SupeRoom or HiFi room for our taller guests to ensure comfort. Although the room was a disappointment, I'm very glad to see that you enjoyed your visit to Sophie's on the rooftop. Best regards, Dave O'

Booked hotel on last minute website, which stated hotel was located in niteclub district. When arrived at reception was told quite matter of factly that we should not expect to get any sleep until 4:30am because of nite club adjoining. Bedroom window overlooking beer garden. Asked for room change. Receptionist quoted €40 extra for room across corridor but stated it would be little quieter. Had to work next day so no sleep was big issue. Manager very rude, refused to refund so that we could book somewhere else. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get some sleep. Never will book here again. Terrible.

Hi mapmcnulty- Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We're sorry about your experience with us here at The Dean. We always prioritise our quieter rooms to be given to frequent guests or those who book directly with us. The particular site that you selected to book through is generally for last minute availability, which tends to be our most noise impacted rooms. Every effort is made to be as upfront and clear about the potential for noise to impact your stay. For some guests, it's not an issue as they will be out enjoying the nightlife on offer in our neighbourhood but we understand that for others, the reasons for staying may be different and a good night's sleep is very important. In relation to the additional charge that was quoted for an alternative room, please note that this would actually have been an upgraded room-type that is twice the size as the entry level room booked initially. We do not charge any additional fees for being on one side of The Dean or the other, solely higher rates for higher classifications of rooms. In scenarios where a guest may depart from The Dean ahead of their scheduled check-out date, we make every possible effort to resell the room and return some value to the guest. Unfortunately, on this occasion we were unable resell the room. Best regards, Dave O'

Stayed at the hotel with my wife for 1 night....and although i have stayed in many hotels in many different countries, this was by far, the worst experience ever !!! The core business of a hotel is to provide Guests with a room where they can sleep....and that is something this place cannot provide ! I was there on a Friday evening with my wife and yes indeed, the receptionist "warned" us already that we may have to use the ear buds that were available in our room ! I can tell you, we did and it did not help as the blearing mix of music coming from I believe, the ground floor, the 2nd floor and the 5th floor till 04.30 am was simply IMPOSSIBLE !!! Our room was on the 2nd floor and a friend of ours who had a room on the 3rd floor had exactly the same experience as us ! Worse even....when upon check out I asked the receptionist what this was about, she - in a very arrogant way - informed me that "Maybe the kind of people like you and your wife are not the type of Guests that are normally staying at our hotel" SORRY !!!??? WHAT ???!!!! Being an executive in the hospitality business myself, I probably know a think or two about hotels and I did not appreciate -after having slept for just 1,5 hrs - being lectured and laughed at by an 18 year old looking, inexperienced, bubble gum chewing hotel receptionist. You know what ? Here is my advise to that receptionist " "Maybe the kind of people like you are not the type of people that should be working in the hotel industry"

Hi geertsnaet- Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us based on your recent visit. We're terribly sorry that you did not enjoy your experience with us at The Dean and that you found it to be too loud. We are situated in a very lively part of Dublin City with many venues running well into the early hours. We do advertise this on our website, on our confirmation emails that are sent to guests when booking and on third party sites also. Sincere apologies if you had not been made aware in advance of your arrival. Please be assured that our Reception Supervisor with who you engaged on departure was certainly not intending to lecture you about your stay or experience. Again, apologies of if there seems to have been some misunderstanding in our communication on the day. Our Reception Supervisor is certainly experienced and professional in all her client interactions. As a destination to stay in Dublin, we understand that sometimes we're not suited to every guests preferences and as such cannot provide the great customer service that we've become known for. However, we'd love to have the opportunity to welcome you again, even for a drink or bite to eat in Sophie's, to have a true Dean experience. Best regards, Dave O'K

I booked this hotel for a business trip to Dublin, looked like a cute boutique hotel. However, when I arrived the staff at reception warned me we were in ‘nightclub district’ and that there were earplugs in the room. Got to my room and not only is it nightclub district but you can see the club from the room (see picture). The club is Copper Face Jacks (open 7 days a week). Was fine with it until 11pm when the club opened and the music was so loud it vibrated the room. They really should advertise this more. The rooms were also pretty dirty, shower grout was black with mould, pulled back bed sheets and found a pair of headphones and marks on sheet. Also the rooms are tired they need some painting and tidying up. The restaurant on the top floor was great and would come back for that, but don’t stay here if you want a relaxing nights stay.

Hi - Thanks for sharing your experience, we're sorry you were disturbed by noise in the neighbourhood. We genuinely tried our best to resell your room but it was not possible given the timing & demand, in order for us to offer free cancellation as requested. We appreciated the opportunity to follow up with you and investigate the issues above, I'm glad we could return some value to you. If you're ever back in town for a meal/drink please let us know. All the best, Dave L

Are the snacks in the room complimentary or is it a pay as you go mini-bar?
Pay as you go mini bar that has quite a variety. If I remember correctly bottles of water were free and there’s even a conplimentary condom lol. Everything else was marked on a list with the prices.

Anyone please know a bus from airport to or near the dean?? Thx.
There’s a bus travelling from Dublin Airport to Camden Street, which is just one block from the Hotel, in Harcourt St., it takes around 20 minutes and costs € 7.

There are a number of nightclubs nearby that operate midweek. I stayed on the 3rd floor and did not find the noise an issue.
