"Clochard" does not mean (as French speakers might suppose) "tramp". It's a combination of Pat and Helena's surnames. We chose Clochard because we wanted to stay in a B&B and also be within walking distance of the old town; as far as we could tell, only Clochard fitted the bill. It's in a quiet residential area and there are no...

Clochard B&B was recommended to me by a friend. I have to say I enjoyed my stay there very very much. I was in Galway for a business trip for 3 days. The owners Pat&Helena couldn't do enough for me. They gave me excellent recommendations on things to do and places to eat. As I don't have a car, I...

The place was too far from the town to be convenient for walking- and I like walking. The rooms were very small, and I found the couple who owned the place unfriendly and made me uncomfortable. Breakfast was fine but fruit selection was poor quality. They were able to arrange bus trips to pick up from the B&B which was...

We stayed 4 nights at the Clochard. From the time we arrived to the time we departed, the hospitality could not have been better. The bedroom had beatiful hardwood floors and the scrumptious breakfast kept us full until well into the afternoon. The menu had many options, but my preference was the traditional Irish breakfast. Pat and Helena arranged tour...

Located about equidistant (about 20 min. walk) to the center of town, the university, and Salthill (nearby area with lovely seaside promenade - well worth a stroll). Very helpful proprietor who stored our luggage and otherwise accommodated our arrival and leaving times. He also arranged for our Aran Island tour - very highly recommended. The breakfast was excellent, and the...

We stayed here almost a week when I came to Galway for a conference at NUIG with my husband. Helena and Pat are very sweet and accomodating as B&B owners. Helena arranged an Aran Islands ferry for us, Pat got us a taxi and gave restaurant advice, and they made a great breakfast. Unfortunately, Helena couldn't keep us for one...

Pat and Helena have a lovely little flower-bedecked town house in a small, secluded, walled area just off a minor road just outside the centre of Galway city. You can reach the city centre in about 10 minutes or so by walking down a road leading past some school playing fields and crossing a river and a canal further down....
