The location is in a quiet residential area with only about a 5 minute walk to the beach and 5-10 minute walk to the city centre. The room was small but comfortable and very clean. The bed was actually comfortable, unlike most of the concrete slab type mattresses you find in Irish lodgings. They also had top (flat) sheets on...

At 35 euro a night you're not expecting luxury and high end facilities. Wards is solid, comfortable accommodation. The rooms are clean and basic. The common areas look quite tired and dated but are by no means offensive. Parking is quite limited and I ended up parking on the street. There was no problem with it but I'd have preferred...

Stayed here on a week night and got it for €35. Really good value but if you stay in Room 10 your over the smoking area of the outside bar. Can get noisy. Good breakfast and nice people run it so I'd stay again.

€65 per room per night. 15 mins walk to city. It's more like a b&b, not a hotel! Double room very small, but clean. Our room was on the top floor, nearly like in the attic, no lift. It's nothing fancy, but for €65 per night it's not bad. Staff were very friendly. Location was good.

We decided to ignore the bad reviews on here and booked to stay at Wards as we couldn't find anywhere cheaper and so close to all the action in Salthill. Thank goodness we did! We wanted somewhere reasonably priced, close to Galway bay and to the city centre. We got just that, and a cosy little pub filled with tourists...

If you are used to upscale four star hotels, stay away......... if you like meeting people, surroundings with history, character and quaintness, then give this place a try. Small, but comfortable rooms, attentive staff, nice little pub with good food made for a very pleasant AND very affordable stay.

Our room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Breakfasts were great & staff was welcoming and friendly. Wards represents an excellent value in lodgings in Galway. But the best reason to go to Wards is the Pub. Locals mix easily with tourists. And the music! Outstanding, best we heard while on our 3 city trek about Ireland.

Wards Hotel/Pub is a true, neighborhood establishment located just 1km from the lower end of Quay St. and MANY pubs and shopping options located in that area. Ward's is a quiet alternative to the larger, more expensive hotels located in/around Eyre Square. Anthony and his staff are very accommodating and offer a level of hospitality you can't really get from...
