Mary and Sean at the Lake House are local characters, and the little complex is widely used for a variety of local functions. The first Friday of the month is dance night - including set dancing - in the hall - but don't expect an early start! Refreshment afterwards (say 1 am) in the cottage. The proceeds have raised to funds...

Cycling the south coast of Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way some places felt a bit jaded. Too many tourists and not enough effort put into customers. While mainly camping we promised ourselves the odd night inside when we got fed up of being cold and wet. After a long wet cold slog around Beara we decided this was a...

We stayed here recently for the third time. Lovely comfortable rooms with nice views. Best breakfast in Ireland. Evening meals are excellent too. I would really recommend the apple pie. Excellent value too and nice friendly hosts.

What a wonderful view over the Clonee Lakes from the Lakehouse Bar and restaurant. I would highly recommend their Wednesday night traditional sessions where you get to hear the real Irish music. Also, the first Friday of every month. Good country music to be had in the old dance hall across the road from the lake house where many couples...

We have stayed at The Lake House several times over the last couple of years. Mary & Sean always make us feel so welcome and Mary's cooking is probably the best cooking we have ever tasted...the seafood chowder is so delicious and the meals are enormous! This is a place not to be missed

The Lake House B&B/Inn is half ways on the main road from Kenmare (South Kerry) to Ardgroom village (in West Cork). The views from the lake house are stunning as the front offers the view and usage of the lake teeming with wild brown trout and to the rear the passage into Kenmare Bay. Nothing is too much trouble for...

It's a family run B&B with a restaurant/bar attached. The hotel was immaculate and rooms in the back had views of the mountains, rooms in the front had views of the lake and (other) mountains. Mary & Sean could not possibly have been more hospitable and the food, especially the fish dishes, superbly prepared. Highly recommended, wonderful value and I...

“All doubles at front of B&B. Mary does a irish soda bread making 2hr course. My husband, 12 year old daughter and I had our own personal bake off! Fabulous! We ate bread, butter and jam with coffee/tea before the course and got to even take away our baked bread afterwards. Mary is a cooking instructor in Bantry and really knows how to teach all ages. I also had to stay there on business on a separate occasion and was blown away by the natural beauty of the surrounding area and also the other guests staying there. I did not feel lonely or awkward as everyone was so friendly and chatty. There is a live music session with Irish stew on a Wednesday night. Great value and entertainment. I have been visiting south kerry for years now and feel really chuffed of my amazing find !! Every review of this B&B so far is true and accurate which I unfortunately can not say about some of the other B&Bs in Kerry I have stayed in.”
