The D Hotel's central location is a hit among guests for its proximity to local attractions, but parking fees have been a sore point. While the hotel's amenities, including the Hops bar and family activities, receive praise, there are mentions of outdated equipment and service delays. The staff's friendliness shines through despite some reports of slow response times. Room conditions appear to be a mixed bag, with cleanliness being generally upheld, yet some rooms fall short of a four-star rating. The lively atmosphere, complete with entertainment, is a draw, although noise can be an issue for some.

We are just home for a wonderful family staycation at the d hotel. We done the 2 nights tayto park package with an evening meal . Having 4 children its always been a struggle to find hotel/family rooms suitable , however they accommodated us in interconnecting rooms and it was just perfect. Lots of space ect. Rooms are modering and well decorated. They have everything within the rooms to meet your needs. Staff go above and behond to make the stay pleasant from reception staff to housekeeping they are all so helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fabulous and well set out large selection of beautiful freshly cooked food, fruit, croissants, muffins ect . Chef cooks up pancakes in the kitchen located in the restaurant for kids and also anything else u might fancy , I had the nicest poached eggs served on crispy brown toast . The evening meal in Goodwin's is equally as good. My son has ASD and they were so accommodating to seat us in a "quite" corner when we asked. Mileana is definitely the hostest with the mostest ! She couldn't do enough, and she even noticed my daughter wasnt enjoying the desert she picked and quickly came over to ask her would she like something else, and exchanged it for a yummy chocolate brownie. The processo on tap was also amazing ! We really enjoyed the trip to tayto park and the hotel itself it's so central to local museums and attractions, shopping centres , coffee shops ect. It would be genuine nearly impossible to find a better hotel . 10/10

As part of our Staycation in Ireland 2020 we used Drogheda as a base for a few days for going to Tayto Park & few other activities/sightseeing trips we had arranged , staying in D-Hotel for 2 nights. Package of 2 nights Dinner,Bed & Breakfast. Family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids) in an apparent "superior" room. Check in was slow and amateurish, check in operator got my name wrong twice, having been told my name he continued to call me Chris (not Mr Smyth, and certainly not my actual name Colm Smyth) . I had to prompt him for info on breakfast & dinner arrangements. Other check in operator had checked in 2 groups whilst we were still waiting . Room on first floor overlooked river but was less than superior , Queen size bed & 2 camp beds (which creaked & rattled at every turn the youngest wouldn't sleep in it for fear of collapsing) . In Room fridge kept nothing cold & 2 ceiling lights in bathroom did not work , TV remote had missing battery cover , every time you lifted it the batteries fell out. Reported these minor house keeping issues the following morning but still not rectified upon our return that evening. Dinner in HOPS Bar on first evening was just OK ,service was very slow and server had to check what we could pick from menu as part of our package, i'd of expected this to be known once they have our reservation ticked off on their sheet. Breakfast was confusing with no direction of how it should take place due to restrictions self service buffet was not operating , numerous people walking about but very little interaction with guests. A table service option would of worked better. Steak Dinner on second night in Goodwins was excellent, albeit the kids meals were either just slow or forgotten about, steaks arrived quicker than sausage & mash!!! Louise was apologetic and makes an excellent friendly host. Next morning,Checkout was again slow , operator asked for room number on multiple occasions and still tried to charge extra for breakfast which was included & prepaid for! this was then followed up with a charge for parking which again had been paid for at check in, I would expect these details to be recorded on computer screen against our room number. Food is fantastic, room was just OK,staff we dealt with could do with further training and/or direction , Louise in Goodwins being the exception. A lovely hotel which deserves to do well and probably does but in my opinion was a major let down. Doubt I'd stay again .

We stayed for a two night break.
Hotel is well designed externally and internally and all the staff were very pleasant and had a desire to please. We dined in Goodwins the main restaurant on the first night and the food and service particularly from Frank and Louise was exceptional.
Unfortunately after that things took a nosedive.
We were in our room with the do not disturb sign on the door when we heard someone knocking.
Then to our amazement the door was opened.
It was the night porter with two new guests for what he thought was an empty room.
One has to wonder whose fault was that, the reception records or the porter.
On night two we dined in Hoops bar which was a total disaster both food wise and hygiene wise.We were seated by the staff at a table which was supposedly set and cleased. The stains and ingrained food matter on the table was so obvious to us but not to the staff. The lack of staff and lack of training was clearly evident.
We were allocated a superior bedroom but there was nothing superior about it apart from its large size.Furniture and decor was very dated and worn but the most worrying aspect was the lack of hygiene. The mattress was seriously stained in multiple places and if we has noticed this on our day of arrival we would have immediately checked out. Obvious stains on tv control and bathroom glasses also. Do you not have a housekeeping manager there?
Parking is €8 per day and no fridges or air conditioning in bedrooms.
We would like to have given this hotel a better review because of the nice staff and convenient location but clearly its understaffed considering the amount of local business that needed service as well as the hotel residents.

I'm a bit late in posting this review as we stayed in late July, but I keep seeing offers for this hotel and I think people should be warned!

We booked the stay one night, get one night free offer. We also paid to upgrade to a ‘superior room with balcony and breakfast each day’. To say this is a 4 star hotel is an absolute joke! The only good thing about this hotel is the staff, I cannot fault them.

Social distancing was good and most of the hand sanitizers were working.
The room was HORRIBLE. Room 501.

The chair, curtains and bedding were filthy. If you’re tempted to upgrade to a balcony don’t bother. The hotel has signs up in the room warning you that the seagulls are a protected species and cannot be removed. That’s ok. But surely they could remove the weeds, bones, bird poo? They have some spikes up to deter the seagulls but a lot of those were lying on the balcony floor.

The hotel stairs had a door which led directly on to our ‘balcony’ which meant anyone could walk out on to it if they wished. For that reason, I had to ask for someone to come and fix the balcony door so it locked.

The rooms are boiling hot and if you have a balcony you don’t have a window. We didn’t feel safe enough to open the balcony door during the night for air, because anyone could access the balcony.

The bathroom was clean enough, but we had to use the towels to cover the furniture and pillows. Thankfully I had brought some from home. The carpet was disgusting, the bedding was ripped and stained.

We ate in the Hops bar and Goodwins restaurant. Both were really good. Great social distancing and the staff were lovely.

Breakfast was chaos, you are given a plate of food while queuing in the corridor then you have to wait to be seated. Again the staff were brilliant, they are all doing their best.

I can’t stress enough how bad the room in the hotel was. I have attached pictures. Honestly, do not waste your money. Stay somewhere else and call in to the bar or restaurant for food.

Stayed in the dhotel on Saturday to surprise our family for birthday celebrations 6 rooms booked, had 4 tables booked for 2:30 we didn't get our food until 4pm some of the staff were very ignorant and rude. The hand sanitizer dispenser were empty paid €180 for a view of a roof and to have ripped bedsheets and breakfast! although a family member paid €130 for a lovely view of the water and 2course meal with breakfast included. Another family member at checkout was charged for a bottle of wine they didn't even order and to top it all off at the end of the night when we wanted to go down for a cigarette there was a chair put through the handlebars of the front door to lock us in which is extremely unacceptable as it is a serious fire hazard and also unfair to those people who were still out the man was very rude to us on reception telling us we can't go out is a hotel not supposed to be you can come and go as you please especially if it was a family hotel. The next day the women on reception was also very rude after handing out 6 free 2 course meal vouchers tried to charge us for them. Very poor service definitely not up to standard for a 4* hotel I advise anyone visiting this hotel to think twice because it was an absolute shamble of a hotel and we definitely won't be back anytime soon.

We have just returned from a two night stay with our one year old and were very disappointed giving all the positive reviews. We had to wait over an hour to be checked in which we didn't mind considering covid rules. Our meal in hops was booked for 5.30pm and we received our food at 7.45. We were put at a high table which meant the high chair did not reach the the same level which caused great difficulty. Our room was a corner room above the beer garden, veryhot with no aircon and the noise below went on to 4.30am which had us awake half the night. The desk staff were very unhelpful and tĂ²ld us we could not switch rooms due to covid.
The dreadful experience continues when we were charged an extra 20 euro for our 1yr olds breakfast eventhough we were told under 2s go free. It took over an hourto get the misunderstanding sorted out. Overall it was very disappointing when we spent a lot of money for the room and in the restaurant for a poor service

Unfortunately this hotel throughout our stay did not put cleansing fluid in any of the dispensers by the ground floor lift or on our floor, the rooms are poorly laid out. My wife and daughter could not use the mirror in the room as it was set too high above the dresser. The bedside tables were a good 8 inches below the bed so we're of little use. The safe did not work at all and gave an error. The Hops is where we ate on both nights the first night my wife and daughtwr had chicken and I had Turkey and ham. Their meal was very nice but I ended up with a 2cm thin sharp bone in my turkey. Thank god a child did not get this and I was lucky I sensed it the moment it was in my mouth. I told the waitress and her response was "Oh Sorry". The 2nd night my daughter and I had the Scampi at 20 euro each. And my wife had the Hake which was very nice. The Scampi was a huge portion but was close to being totaly inedible due to a very heavy breaded coating. In fact the amount of coating was larger than the filling and I had to take it off before I could eat the actual prawn. On leaving the hotel they asked if all was OK, I told them about all the food issues and they even asked if the items were removed from the bill. No I replied, but they did nothing either. This was my 3rd and last time I will ever be in this hotel. Uncaring and unsafe in my view. We spent around 85 euro a night on food and drink and also some during the day on drink as well. As you can tell I'm very upset about the experience. We then spent 2 days at the cavan Crystal a fantastic 2 days.

I stayed in the D Hotel on Friday 25th June 2021 and from the minute we arrived at the hotel our stay was a disaster! We stood in a line for 55 minutes to check in (We arrived at 4pm. There were 2 staff members checking people in, the que was out of the reception, staff were extremely slow at checking people in. When we finally got to the reception desk, a lady I believe her name was Kristel in a pink blouse, was quite rude and abrupt. She checked us into room 522 on the 5th floor, when we got to the room, it was dirty. I went back down to reception, advised the same lady she had just checked us into a dirty room, she didn't apologies instead she said , ' it is showing as clean in my system'. She then gave us 611. The room is basic but fine for the price.
We had dinner booked that evening, we headed down for 7:30pm which we had pre-booked. The lady at the podium outside the restaurant took our dinner voucher and showed us into the restaurant and sat us down at a dirty table (During a pandemic may i add). I asked to be moved by a male server he said the person looking after us would be back in a moment. We waited 15 minutes for someone to come over to us while sitting at a dirty table and then proceeded to ask 'are we ready to order' then i replied can someone clean our table? She did then clean the table and took our order - no apologies. The food was quite nice but we waited over 20 minutes for drinks to arrive. We then headed to the bar after dinner , the bar is nice and has a great atmosphere, service was great.

The next morning we arrived to breakfast at 10:15am, service again was quite bad and very slow. We waited 10 minutes on tea!! The breakfast itself was fine however we did have to wait on scrambled eggs and more sausages to arrive but it was quite busy so that was fine.

Staff are in need of some training especially front desk staff!

We won't be back to this hotel any time soon.

After reading the reviews from the past few weeks in June, I was nervous about by booking for 4 adults and 4 children, but it couldn't have been anymore different to the bad reviews people left. At first entrance into the hotel, the lobby was very clean, we were greeted by 3 very friendly staff, they gave the kids a bag of treats, colouring, ice cream and goodies so they were delighted. Immediately the lady told me I had paid too much online for the kids breakfast so gave me a refund. We got to our room which was clean, bright and a great size. We ate in the bar both nights and the staff were brilliant, some of them new as they informed us they were new but that didn't stop their professionalism and helpfulness. The food was beautiful and the staff were great. They have a great outdoor seating area. Breakfast was fab! Hotel was run so well, staff were always wearing masks and always very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel with kids.

Hotel is lovely, rooms big and spacious and in a central location.
We booked on a room only basis, and have received our booking confirmation that stated that. When we arrived at check in we were told that we had booked breakfast too, we never said anything as we all need breakfast. When we went down for breakfast the next morning, when we gave our room number the lady said you have just booked room only, we stated no we were booked in for breakfast. She asked to see our vouchers to which we didn't have any. We received our breakfast and then on three occasions while eating it we were asked to see vouchers.
Breakfast was ok but there are no indications as to what is under the hot plates or that there are further choices inside the restaurant. The older lady who served the breakfast on both mornings was quite sharp.
We asked about the Goodwin restaurant at reception one evening and we were informed that you have to book but even if it is full we wouldn't be turned away and that we could be seated and served upstairs. When we went to the restaurant on Sat evening we were turned away as they said they were full.
On check out we had to pay for the car park there and then which we knew that the car park needed paid for but we were told when we got the ticket for the car park that it would just be added onto the bill.
I am not too sure whether the hotel is adjusting to life after Covid or they or short staffed but these wee irks in our stay took away from a otherwise good weekend.
