The Glasshouse hotel receives high marks for its spotless rooms and pristine facilities, with guests often highlighting the sparkling cleanliness. The ample, river-view rooms and well-organized amenities also garner praise, especially the breakfast and parking conveniences. While service is generally lauded for being friendly and professional, the hotel's atmosphere garners mixed reviews, with some finding it lacking in character. Situated in a prime location, the hotel offers easy access to Sligo's attractions, though opinions on value do vary, with some guests considering certain services overpriced.

We are back once again in the fabulous Glasshouse Hotel. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean with beautiful views over the town and river. It is centrally located within easy reach of all the towns bars and restaurants . The food in both the cafe bar and restaurant is 5 star and the selection of food at breakfast is great. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. From the warm welcome you receive from the reception staff, to the professional, courteous, friendly service you receive from management and bar and restaurant staff, you really feel like you are coming home. Everyone goes over and above to ensure your stay is memorable especially Kara, Lauren, Vanessa, Leah, Erik, Meabh and Adrian ( barman). Looking forward to coming back in August. We really cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Other hotels could learn a lot from the Glasshouse.

We got married here on 2nd Jan 2020 by civil ceremony in the Hyde Room, lunch after in the restaurant and afternoon drinks in the bar. If I could give the Glasshouse 10 stars I would. Eithne and Rebecca couldnt do enough for us as our events coordinators, everything was arranged with military precision and ran like clockwork but with zero pressure applied on us. Rebecca was there to meet us for our drinks and to ensure we had everything and anything we needed. We were given a complimentary mulled wine reception for guests as well as many other concessions to make our ceremony absolutely perfect for us and exactly what we wanted. We were provided with a Red carpet and high back black elegant chairs for the ceremony, free of charge which added a lovely touch of class and elegance to our ceremony room. Once ceremony finished we enjoyed a break for our mulled wine and fruit punch before moving through to the restaurant for lunch. Celebrations menu was €25pp and I could not fault it, starter, main, dessert and tea/coffee. For 25 adults and 6 kids this was ideal and didnt break the bank. I have to say it tasted the same as any other 12k wedding meal I have been at if not better. Everything was so relaxed, our family room the night before was spacious, clean, comfortable and excellent value. Cannot thank the girls, Eithne, Rebecca and all the staff at the glasshouse for the most relaxing, pleasant and cost effective wedding day for our Family. Thank you all so much !!

Just after spending a weekend at this hotel as a family. We arrived before 3 and our room was ready, room was 100% and they had several signs to show areas that had been sanitized. The receptionist that checked us in I think she was called Ellie Mae was so friendly and explained all in great detail. We ate in restaurant on Friday night and the restaurant supervisor asked us several times how we where getting on. Then on Saturday maids called to service our room and again when we visited restaurant staff all very friendly. Car park GREAT ONLY 4 EUROS a day.

The hotel is easy to find and is in an excellent central location, underground car park is a great addition but does cost €4 per night. The hotel itself is nicely decorated and well kept. Check in was easy receptionist was very friendly and helpful explaining all protocols, breakfast etc. Complying well with Covid 19 restrictions without it being a hassle to guests. Our room was river view which was lovely. Breakfast was good nice selection of continental and hot food. We ate in the bar on one night and the food was very nice.
Only small negatives were that in all advertisements both on TV in the room and on posters in hotel it says food is served until 9pm however on our first night we rang room service at 8:50pm (we were late arriving that evening) and we were told last orders were at 8:45 however no where is that advertised. The next night we ate in the bar, we went down around 8 and we ordered our starter and main course all the food was lovely and well presented but when a waiter came to us after we finished our main course they offered us tea/coffee and we asked could we get desert they replied that the kitchen was closed since 8:45 this was at 9:05. Now I completely understand last orders cut off times but I have never been to a restaurant where guests who were already eating main courses well before cut off time were refused dessert or at very least were not warned that they should order dessert if they wanted it as the kitchen was due to close. It’s common curtesy as well as good business sense- surely every bit of extra money spent, even if it’s only on a dessert or two is good.
Aside from these very minor issues the hotel was very nice and I would return and recommend to others.

The Glasshouse is a unique idea that makes the most of its wonderful setting by the river. The floor to ceiling windows do the setting justice. And the decor is interestingly different. Front desk staff were helpful, but the (paid) parking is problematic if you have to take your car out during your stay. A code is required to exit the car park. I was not told the code would change overnight, which caused a delay in my departure. My room was very good. The only negative hearing the slamming of doors on the corridor late at night and early in the morning. The restaurant dinner was creative, and the service impeccable. But I did feel there was a lack of appreciation of the level of the dining experience by those in charge of the background music: 80's pop music does nothing for ambiance. Classical music would have added so much and encouraged me to linger. Breakfast was a carvery, the favoured way of presenting it in hotels. But scrambled eggs, for instance, are just not going to survive with any taste or texture sitting under hot lamps. And the coffee was deplorable, tasting like it too had been made hours before and left sitting on a hot plate. A very kind server provided alternative beverages which I'm sure is a waste of staff time. For the quality of the surroundings, it would make sense to have at least "eggs to order" if not the full breakfast. Perhaps I'm being fussy, but this hotel has much more potential than it's offering.

Slightly disappointed with my stay here. Firstly charging customers for parking is outright ridiculous. It's not as if you have a choice to park elsewhere so your hit with the charge straight away, Yes its a small charge but dampens your stay before you even see your room. I Ordered prosecco for our room arrival only to walk in and find it in warm water which when you're paying 35 euros for a bottle you'd expect at least enough ice to keep it chilled so didn't bother with room service for our stay after that. The rooms whilst small are okay but why is there no small fridge provided? It's the first 4-star hotel I've stayed in that doesn't have this, I also can't understand why there isn't a small table and chairs provided for the balcony it would've been a nice feature. The bathrooms need a total upgrade and are very outdated. The positives. The breakfast and restaurant were both very lovely the location is perfect but a real shame as with proper hands-on management could be a top hotel.

Haven’t written a review on here in years but my stay at the Glasshouse compelled me to reactivate my account.

Booked a one night stay for a special occasion in what was billed as “Sligo’s only 4 star hotel”. Pictures online made it look like a modern quirky hotel.

Warning signs were there on arrival at underground carpark, took about 20 minutes to get up to reception due to one of the lifts “undergoing repair”. From reading on here it appears the lifts have been “undergoing repair” for about a month.

Upon arrival at reception, was greeted with a line of 8 people waiting to check in, with one person frantically manning the desk. This was at 3 o’clock, i.e check in time. Surely in the circumstances with Covid etc. it would make sense to put another colleague on the desk to help with crowd control.

Check in was fairly abrupt once we reached the desk, made to feel like we were an inconvenience more than anything.

Another long wait then at the lift to get up to room.

Stayed in a “Deluxe” room, fine sizewise but in major need of a refresh.

Service poor at the bar during stay, an order forgotten by staff, overcharged on bill at end.

There was a complete lack of atmosphere throughout the hotel during our stay, despite rooms being at capacity. Fully appreciate these are testing times for everyone but it doesn’t take much to generate a bit of buzz in a place. Maybe look at the background music you’re piping in, offer a cocktail menu in the bar etc. Bit of staff retraining on customer service probably required also.

Breakfast a major disappointment. Warm bread rather than toast, cheap concentrate orange juice, soggy French toast.

Not expecting perfection but it’s disappointing to see a hotel fall down on so many basic levels.

I was looking forward to my stay here and i was so disappointed with the overall stay. I traveled solo but had other family members staying in the hotel. I was greeted on the desk on arrival by a man with such a cold welcome and showed no enthusiasm whatsoever not accustomed to what i expect from a hotel of this type. While he was not rude i did observe him with another customer and was extremely defensive and not what you would expect from a reception staff. The room itself was ok the other staff on the whole were nice especially in the bar. I do question the cleanliness of the hotel as it appeared someone had got sick on the 1st floor and those stains were there on departure also one day the room was not serviced at 4pm that is the latest i have ever had a room serviced. Further on breakfast one morning the table we were seated at was not cleaned properly. With Covid 19 this is more important than ever. As regards the hotels policy of serving alcohol they insisted in food order first which i believe is the law however i witnessed countless incidents with other guests that this did not happen where they were drinking with no food for long periods and this shows a double standard and left a sour taste in my mouth. I did like the food and did charge quite alot to my room and on departure reception all they were interested in was paying €220 rather than asking how my stay was. I do not think i will ever be back at this hotel and would stay elsewhere. The hotel reminds me of boom time zombie hotel and the experience shows this.

Stayed at the Glasshouse Hotel for 3 nights at the end of September. From check in to check out first class service.
Booked reservation with a lovely lady Geraldine who kindly upgraded us to a balcony room overlooking the river as my husbands 60th birthday was earlier this year and due to covid we didn't get to celebrate it.
Covid compliance throughout the hotel which put us at ease.
Bedroom great size beds very comfortable had thee best nights sleep.
Breakfast very well organised and staff quick on hand taking tea/coffee orders and instructions clear to help with service stations set up.
Breakfast itself was hot and plentiful and beautiful.
We ate in the restaurant and I cant express how gorgeous the food was.
Such detailed presentation in each and every dish better than any other hotel restaurant i have ever ate in.
The staff were so friendly and excellent in doing their job and attending to any requirements at all.
We didn't explore much while there just out around town for nice walks as we wanted a nice relaxing break and the Glasshouse made sure this was fulfilled.
Thanks to all for a wonderful break and we certainly will return in the near future.

I booked a dine and stay package that included dinner and breakfast. I also had a group of 2 other couples who booked the same, with one of them booking for 2 night, therefore we spent a significant amount of money at this hotel throughout the weekend. Throughout our entire stay we all encountered the same issues. Staff during our stay where extremely rude and dismissive and made our stay extremely uncomfortable. From the beginning we were greated by a receptionist that answered the phone in the middle of being asked a question. There was in particular a female staff member of Asian origin that worked in the restaurant that wore a pink shirt different from the rest of the staff members. This staff member was extremely rude, to the point that she rolled her eyes for being asked a simple question of how breakfast works (do we self serve or have our order taken), she snapped breakfast order sheets from my table and seemed extremely sarcastic when saying thank you when we were leaving the restaurant even to the point of sniggering after saying this. This is the reception we also recieved from the bar staff, waiting up to 50 mins to have a drinks order taken to have the response, "im up to my eyes in it give me a minute". This hotel certainly is not a budget hotel therefore I was expecting simple pleasentness from the staff atleast. My stay at this hotel has certainly shown me that nice customer service with a smile is well and truly dead. Contacted the manager regarding this and recieved a completely unsatisfactory response.
