The Glasshouse Hotel garners accolades for its prime location in Sligo, with easy access to local attractions and picturesque river views that enchant many guests. The establishment's service is often lauded for the staff's professionalism and attentiveness, although a few visitors have encountered inconsistencies. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and comfort, noise and air conditioning have been points of contention for some. Despite the praise for amenities, a handful of travelers mention additional charges, and opinions on the hotel's value and atmosphere are mixed.

Really impressed by The Glasshouse in Sligo. As a wheelchair user, my experiences with hotels has been a bit 'hit & miss' over the years. So when I come across a hotel that is accessible and makes travel as easy as possible, I believe in highlighting it. Well done The Glasshouse!
The accessible room is just that, accessible. It is very spacious bedroom with lots of turning room. The wet room ensuite has lots of grab rails, a lower sink and a shower seat. I was happy to see that there was lots of shelf space for a make-up bag, etc. (something that can be omitted in many accessible bathrooms!).
The room had a big flat screen tv, complimentary bottles of water and the tea/coffee station had yummy biscuits. The bedroom is above the bar area, so there was some noise, but this didn't go on too late.
I found that the food in the hotel bar was top-notch. I ate there on consecutive nights with my travelling companions. We all had different meals and there was no complaints at all about the food. The hotel itself is situated very centrally, and it was notable how many locals had dinner there on a Friday or Saturday evening (something that I take as a very good sign). The hotel breakfast was one of the best that any of us had ever experienced. The food was piping hot and there was a huge selection of hot and cold breakfasts. Although the hotel was very full and breakfast was served from a buffet counter, there was no major delays or confusion among guests. Everything ran very smoothly and there was lots of friendly staff on duty.
Throughout my stay, I found every member of staff to be pleasant and helpful. The only real negative we encountered (& it really wasn't a big one), is that the hotel only had two smallish lifts and only one of these lifts stopped at the mezzanine level (which is where the bar and breakfast room was located). This probably wouldn't have been so much of an issue if those who could use the stairs did so. As a result, there was a bit of time spent waiting on lifts to arrive! Having said all that, my experience of The Glasshouse was very favourable and I would definitely recommend it both to those who are wheelchair users and those who just fancy a break in Sligo. It is a great hotel and very central.

3 of us met for a Christmas Catch Up over lunch at the Kitchen Restaurant in The Glasshouse Hotel.
I had requested a table by the river if possible at the time of booking and was delighted they had been able to accommodate us.
The table was beautifully set with cloth napkins, prettily designed menus ,festive Christmas crackers and decorations.
We chose from a combination of the Christmas Menu and the standard menu and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Many thanks to the Chefs and Kitchen Team.
Front of House/ Waiting Staff/ Bar Staff were very welcoming, friendly and extremely professional.
An absent Friend who couldn’t be with us had kindly sent a bottle to our table - it was accompanied by a smiling Barman and bespoke Hotel card with our Friend’s greeting … a lovely touch.
I have enjoyed eating at The Glasshouse over the past few years - the high standard of the food has always been consistent. But the golden nugget has been the well trained, friendly and professional Staff… many thanks to all 🎄

We stayed 4 nights at the Glasshouse (including a rate of €222 for the Saturday!). Room was perfectly adequate, river view, comfy bed, spacious bathroom.
The big disappointment was the food offering. The Dinner Menu was limited and the food once served was uninspiring, the Lasagne (a very small serve) was dry and tasteless. Buffet Breakfast was canned fruit and the pre-cooked hot food was poor quality, we've had better food in a far cheaper budget hotel chain. The entire breakfast vibe was that of being 'nickel and dimed'. When we asked for espresso coffee we were informed that would be an extra cost, even though our booking stated 'full breakfast' included.
The Glasshouse has much room for improvement in the catering area, the emphasis appeared to be on 'economy, not quality'. It was interesting to see the Certificates Awarded for Excellent Food, were somewhat out of date.

I have stayed in lots of hotels around Sligo for both business and pleasure. The Glasshouse is top of the list for attention to detail, looking after their customers, location, cleanliness and has a fabulous view bar. The Glasshouse is situated in the heart of Sligo town and is so welcoming to the guests, my favourite room is 426 which overlooks the river and the town centre, it has double doors so you don't hear any movements in the corridor at night. The Glasshouse staff are very considerate of all their guests and respect that they do not want disturbance in the hotel. The restaurant serves amazing food and the choice for breakfast is fabulous, i recommend the Glasshouse for a great getaway and only 10 minutes away from the beaches of Rosses Point or Strandhill.

I have just returned from the most amazing weekend at the glasshouse. I had booked originally a deluxe room with a small balcony and river views. I kindly received an upgrade from the most kindest lady Vanessa who arranged this for me as it was a belated trip for my husbands birthday to the newly refurbished deluxe suites with large terrace sitting area on the sixth floor.
Check In was so smooth and on our arrival, which was early advised that our room was ready. Thank you to the lovely girl who checked us in sorry I didn't get your name. Very informative and helpful and nothing any trouble to her.
We stayed in room 603 and to say I was stunned on entrance would be an understatement. With bathrobes slippers and a mini fridge with water to the lovely chocolates all these touches made our stay even more special.
The room was spacious, the most wonderful bathroom and outdoor area, which wirh the great weather we had was certainly put to good use.
Breakfast was beautiful as was dinner we ate at the hotel again which was very reasonably priced.
Service from all the staff was first class hence why we keep returning.
We enjoyed the entertainment also both nights in the hotel, which is a bonus if you want to be chilled and not have to move after dinner.
Check out was again very smooth sad to leave for sure.
Massive thank you to Vanessa and all her staff. You certainly went over and above for us this weekend, and it didn't go unnoticed.

Excellent service and food from Vanessa , Katie, Cara and team. We were early but rooms available and evening meal on first night was freshly prepared and delicious. Katie looked after us well including arranging Negronis.
Two night midweek stay and Cara welcomed us at breakfast and explained process. Slightly disappointed that no omelettes available but good choice apart and food was good.
Requested fridge in one of the rooms which was quickly attended to.
Becoming expensive as are all Hotels in Ireland and perhaps they need to revisit midweek offers for regular customers.

We recently stayed at The Glasshouse Hotel Sligo located in the town centre. I can’t say enough positives things about this beautiful hotel, from the envious location right in the heart of Sligo with the Garvogue river flowing right outside the hotel which makes for a breath-taking sight whether dining in their award winning restaurant or staying in one of their stunning suites. We had the pleasure of staying in one of the deluxe suites (Thank you Vanessa) for 3 nights recently and the view from these suites are spectacular. We use the Glasshouse Hotel as often as we can, we love it. Such a great team providing a 5 star service. Well done. Can't wait to stay again.

We stayed here on the 22th August and in the evening after coming back from a restaurant, there was loud music that could be heard in the reception area. There was a function in the hotel restaurant area and our room was above this. It was very noisy in our bedroom and at 22.30pm went down to complain about the music and was told by the duty manager that the function would carry on to midnight and she would try to get the music level reduced but this not successful. We could not get to sleep until after midnight as a result and to compound the issue as the room temperature was too warm, the air-conditioning did not work as when turned down to 16C it blew out hot air.
We spoke to the duty manager in the morning and she said that she could not do anything about the music and that the air-con would work if you waited up to 20 minutes.
In the fortnight we have been in Ireland/NI, this was the most expensive and worst hotel we stayed in because of these issues. The duty manager did offer us a 50 euro reduction as a result which we accepted.
So if you are looking to book this hotel, check whether there is a function on and where your room is to avoid the issue above.

Dear D4806FOdavide Thank you for your review following a recent stay here in The Glasshouse. I am disappointed to hear your stay did not go as planned. We loved it so much, we have already booked our next stay!

We arrived 4 hours before check in, while early check in was not available, we were able to store our luggage and headed off to lunch, When we returned at 2 not only was our room ready, we had received a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe double balcony room. The room was clean and spacious with a great view of the Garavouge River. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the robes and towels fluffy. The bathroom included a nice deep tub. Tea and coffee station provided as well with biscuits.

Breakfast was plentiful, with tea and coffee brought to the table, while food was buffet style with food breakfast food as well as meats, cheeses, cereal, fruits and pastries. Not once did we have to wait to be seated, We did have a few drinks at the Cafe Bar, where the staff was very attentive and engaging.

Every employee we engaged with was courtesy and professional and made our stay memorable. Thanks and see you again Glasshouse!

Celebrated my wife's 70th birthday here, staying for 2 nights. On arrival we were upgraded to a River View with balcony. On the evening meal (included in price) we were serenaded by the staff with a birthday cake (gratis) What a lovely gesture on the hotel's part.
The room was perfect, large and a good sized bathroom with lots of hot water.
The staff are absolutely fabulous in all area's, nothing too much for them to do for you.
Buffet breakfast was very good, with numerous choices both hot/cold, certainly more than enough to keep you going for most of the day.
Evening food was also excellent, I had the best ever steak (Sirloin) I have tasted in a long while, cooked to perfection (Medium Rare) and not an ounce of fat on it.
Ideally situated right in the middle of the town, easy walking distance of historical sites and shopping and of course plenty of pubs, most with music in them.
There is an underground Car Park (4 euro's per day) but well worth paying.
My thanks to all the staff for making this a memorable occasion and especially to Lorraine (Reservations) who I believe made everything possible.
As I said, all staff were wonderful, but must make a special thanks to our waitress, Daina who went out of her way to serve us and engage with us.
