Detailed Reviews
I had booked a night for my husband in March but due to lockdown was unable to attend so they gave us the opportunity to change date which we booked for July on the hope it would be all back to normal ! We decided to go after talking to the receptionist who reassured us that it was following all socail distancing and covid secure hotel . On arrival we wore masks to book in where we was handed an envelope with sanitised key fobs and all information needed as all extras have been removed from the rooms. we opted to eat in the dining room where we were allocated a time reservation , we was handed a menu and sterile pens sealed in their own packages to tick choices . The waitress wore PPE on attendance to our table and keeping distance . Hand sanitiser points were at entrance and exit points to all doors at resturant and main doors. Breakfast menu were included in pack and had to tick choices and leave at bedroom door with time that you required to your room or dining room .
I can say it was very quiet compared to our normal stay and the capicity in resturant is limited but all in all I felt safe at all times nd would not hesitate to revisit again whilst we are in these unusal times. Keep up the good work Orton Hall and we hope to be back soon for a break.

Building is amazing, grounds are lovely. Not far from city centre.
Parking is available but was rather muddy due to the weather.
Our room was on the first floor, not suitable for those with walking difficulties, as we were at the end of the building. If that would cause you a problem it would be worth mentioning when you book. There are no lifts available, but staff will help with luggage if needed.
We had lovely large room spotlessly clean and a good bathroom. Bed was comfy. The rooms were warm but we turned off the radiators so the second night was a more comfortable sleep.
Due to the age of the building the windows did rattle in the wind, also unable to open windows due to the horrific weather. But hotel cannot control the weather so we did understand. We were warm and cosy inside.
We ate one night in the pub in the grounds food was ok perfectly edible but expensive for what it was. Service in the pub was good also nice range of drinks.
Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice and nice quality food, ours was warm. Staff also constantly checked and stopped up food.
Our only issue was trying to get a drink or coffee in the hotel. The bar was open a phone was available to ring for service, we rang and rang and rang. After around a 15min wait we had just given up when whilst walking out we bumped into a member of staff who then served us. This did put us off using the hotel restaurant so we ate out the second night. Pub short walk down the road similar type of food to onsite pub but half the price midweek.
Didn't use the pool area but it looked lovely and very popular.
I did book a lovely treatment in the spa, but the only time I could get as they were very busy was the afternoon after checking out. It was a lovely relaxing end to my stay but I was not offered use of the changing rooms or pool area afterwards to ended up in the loo having to put my hair tidy following a head massage to travel home. Just something to bear in mind when you book. Or book in advance as the spa treatments are lovely and discounted for guests next time I will 😉
If I was in the area I would stay here again as it was such a lovely building, reception staff were welcoming and helpful.

I had the pleasure to stay 2 nights in the lovely hotel last week. I booked Heritage double rooms for myself and 2 "old" school friends for a short reunion.
The hotel and grounds:
The hotel is set in a beautifully kept park. We were lucky to have such lovely spring weather so that we could to stroll around and enjoy the gardens.
Car parking is no problem.
The public rooms in the hotel were comfortable and kept the style of the hotel.
Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open during our stay but if the breakfast buffet is anything to go by, the food must be good. The breakfast buffet was a choice of continental, including cereals and fruits, and full english breakfast. There wasn't too much on the buffet at once and the hot buffet was constantly replenished so the food was always fresh.
The rooms:
Large double rooms on the first floor (no lift) of the old building. The room had a large double bed, small table and 2 comfortable armchairs, Sufficient wardrobe (with safe, iron and ironing board), drawers space for clothes and a small bathroom with bath and shower (overhead and with shower hose). A desk and TV completed the room facilities. The windows are large so the room has lots of light. Everything was clean and the bed very comfortable.
The staff:
were friendly and polite
The Ramblewood Inn:
we ate twice in the Inn. The food was fresh and well presented.
On the whole a very pleasant place to stay and I would definitely book again. Good value for money.
We didn't use the spa but it looked very nice and seemed to be well frequented.
Very near to the hotel is Nene Park and Ferry Meadows. A very nice place for walks and seeing nature. There is also a golf course.

Stayed 2 nights at end of August. Pros- the staff are fantastic, helpful, friendly and polite. The inside of the hotel is great they've adapted it around the old hall and is really quirky. We loved it. The breakfast was plenty and due to covid restrictions they plate up for you but that's ok. There is a pub just next door. Rooms are well laid out and lovely and clean and well decorated. There is the Libary Bar it was open on our first night but closed the 2nd, the reason was covid and keeping guests 2m apart but this could have been done easily as there were not many guests. But we did get drinks by just asking staff who were more than helpful. The negative- I appreciate that the hotel has been closed and just recently opened, but they do need to get the front approach area tidied and the grass cut, clean out the algae from the fountain and make it look presentable. First impression is always crucial and I was disappointed in this area. There is a pool and jacuzzi only managed to get in once think the answer is Book!! before you arrive again a covid restriction hopefully it will change. Overall gets an 8 out of 10 and would defo stay again.

My partner booked us the Serail Mud treatment here for my birthday on the 20th of December which cost a total of £90. All I can say is what an absolute state the pool, changing rooms and mud chamber are
Mosaic tiles missing in the chamber, the showers don’t work as well as each other (my partner’s wasn’t as effective as mine) the wooden board on which you’re given the mud has seen much better days
The pool area has rust EVERYWHERE. All on the ceilings and at the bottom of the columns that support the roof. The end wall of the pool has been filled in with plaster and brick shapes cut into it which looks absolutely ridiculous compared to the rest of the walls
The changing rooms are extremely basic, the shower rooms looked absolutely disgusting hence I avoided them and chose to have a shower at home
The relaxation room was constantly in use by different people. There were signs stating that the furniture had been sprayed with anti covid protection yet I seriously wonder about the effectiveness
There seemed to be no limit on the amount of people in the swimming pool/sauna/jacuzzi/steam room at any given time
There were no slippers provided so I found myself walking around barefoot with other people’s hair tangling around my feet
I tested positive for covid 2 days after visiting this spa and am now extremely ill just in time for Christmas. I’m not saying I caught it there but I haven’t been anywhere else since
This spa needs a huge clean up/revamp. We would most definitely not recommend or return here in the future

Stayed one night only, but really impressed and would visit again. The location in its own grounds is excellent, good parking capability and the exterior of the buiilding looks very impressive. The room we had was ground floor and large. Midweek only the Ramblewood Inn is open but the food was good if "pub style" and service was prompt and meal good value for money. Service friendly. The sauna and swimming pool were all fully open and were excellent. Breakfast was traditional and set us up well for the day exploring the area. The gorunds were particualrly memorable with the tree lined avenue, the local church and the Orton Longville wood well worth the journey. The only downside would be the fittings of the bathroom which were a bit clunky and showing their age.

We booked and arrived within a few minutes and the room was ready. Friendly staff on reception, very clean and comfortable bed and room. Despite the radiator turned down to the lowest setting the room was boiling hot so I’d advise you to open a window before going to sleep. The temperature of the shower in the morning did change during having a shower. My husband loved the breakfast and said it is worth the money and the ingredients were fresh. Would return for another stay here.

We stayed on a Saturday evening and felt we got a good last minute deal through booking.com. We had a coach house room which was as described and ready half an hour before 2pm. We really enjoyed our meal in the Huntley restaurant, it would have been nice to be able to view the menu online though prior to booking (only a sample menu is provided and no prices). We had lunch at the inn and had read mixed reviews on this place but we thought it was fine for lunch and my husband liked the range of IPA's. We had booked the spa , I have visited another imagine spa local to where I live and felt the spa needs attention due to the amount of rust and the windows above the loungers needs a very good clean. We are hot tub owners and the jacuzzi certainly needed some defoamer in it, I had to ask for bags to be refilled for my wet swimsuit. Towels from the previous session had been left on loungers and not removed therefore blocking beds for new guests. Our room was clean and adequate and the shower worked well. Good range of tea, coffee and hot chocolate and 6 milks. The walls are very thin and you can hear the next door neighbours. Fortunately for us they were fairly quiet but I guess this could pose a problem. There was also a wedding on during our stay (expected on a Saturday night) however they had a lot of kids who were left to roam free. They were throwing stones in the fountain, climbing it, took over all the sofas in hotel area and were fighting in the corridors. Rather than sitting in the hotel we went up early to our room. One lone wedding guest was trying to sort the fighting but I doubt all the boys belonged to her.

First impressions were great, although parking can be an issue.
Reception team are welcoming and efficient and helping you book a table or visits to the spa.
Ramblewood Inn had delicious, although pricey, food. But the staff were great and a welcome place to go after a long journey.
The spa was lovely and the pool is one you can actually swim in rather than just hang around in like some spas. You can get towels from the spa, no need to take your own, and code lockers that don't require a lock or money and are easy to use.
However saying. There is a "gym" is a long shot - it's 2x treadmills and cross trainers only.
The room was very spacious, including 2 big beds, desk, coffee table and chairs, sofa, empty mini fridge to keep drinks in and bathrobes.
En suite was large with a big bath and a shower (although be aware that pressure fluctuates a lot especially at peak times where at times the flow of water stopped completely).
There is no lift and the stairs to the 2nd floor were quite narrow so getting luggage up to the room could be challenging for anyone with mobility issues.
Also no air conditioning in the room and it got quite stuffy and this was during relatively cool summer weather. I imagine during summer it would be uncomfortable (although there was a fan in the room).
The hotel was very clean everywhere. Although it is starting to show wear and tear in places but given the history a lot of it just adds character.
The weakest point was breakfast. The service was disorganised and chaotic and the staff seemed inexperienced. If you're vegetarian watch out as you'll need to ask for sausages and not all the staff know what to do. And when you do get them they're made out of broccoli and carrot, which would be fine for dinner but was off-putting at breakfast.
I would recommend this place and would stay again in the future.

I stayed here for one night whilst in the area for business. My guests also stayed here. The room was ok, bed was comfortable but everything felt a bit dated. They were a bit slow to clean up after guests, noticed after an event some crisps on floor and no-one picked them up. The breakfast room was nice but dissapointed to see poor quality buffet. Overall it wasnt bad, but it wasnt great either when considering other places in same price range. Think they need to invest a little in the hotel. Saw on top floor some shoddy repair work just done that morning on the stairs using cheap materials. Room was a little creepy too but it was charming. The shower was very poor quality, invest 100 per room and put a decent water fall shower head, so fustrating when hotels dont think of this. The front desk staff were good though, also the grounds were nice. I didnt think much of the pub next door, very pushy at last orders.
