We had a lovely room with our own patio. The breakfast was continental and in a fridge. This I liked as being a bit of a slug in the morning we could serve ourselves when we wanted in our PJ's a little like home from home. The main reason we gave a very good was also Carol's kindness and going...

My husband and I visit Yorkshire every couple of years and have relatives that live close by. We wouldn't stay anywhere but Bishop Monkton and absolutely love The Lamb and Flag. It remains a traditional pub, small and cosy and while the food is excellent, the pub hasn't been converted into a restaurant as many others have been. The landlords...

Called in for an evening meal on Wednesday night. The pub was not busy when we arrived, just a few locals. We were made very welcome and ordered our meals. Soon they were besieged with orders as the pub filled up with diners. Our starters arrived promptly as did our main course. We were happy to let that settle as...

We had already booked a table at the Mason's Arms, but decided to have a beer here before hand, mainly to see if the reports on the welcome were true or not, and if we would want to eat here later in the week. The barmaid who served us was friendly enough, but the landlord does not seem to engage...

My family and friends have been visiting this area for years, staying in the cottages next door to the Lamb and Flag. Every time we visited the pub for a meal, if the landlord was serving his demeanor was one of disgust that as visitors we deigned to go into his pub! Great way to treat people who would like...

Had an overnight stay at the Lamb and Flag last week to meet up with friends for the evening. Loved the unusual bed and breakfast of a continental breakfast served in your room. Plentiful food and all fresh. Room clean, tidy and with an en-suite bathroom. I would definitely return and recommend the Lamb and Flag.

My wife and I visited Bishop Monkton last week-end and we had the unfortunate experience of visiting The Lamb & Flag and coming up against the rude and miserable pair who run the establishment. After informing the few locals who were in the pub that they were closing and to get a drink if they wanted one, I went to...
