We booked two rooms and when we arrived one smelled like urine and the other the window would not shut. We went to reception and there was a lovely girl on the desk and after some time she managed to move us to different rooms. The rooms we were put into smelled awful, there were stains and marks over the walls and bed and we were kept up by neighbours lingering in the corridor until about 3am as the walls were paper thin. In the morning a new woman was on desk who looked really fed up and all she said to me was “Room number” which I then said. Then she said “Anything you want to say” and I said no and left as quickly as possible. Simply the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, looks nothing like the pictures online.
Booked this place because everywhere else was busy. My room was miserable and looked nothing like the pictures. The whole place is like stepping back in time. Needs a complete refurb. To say the area is rough would be a serious understatement. Only positive was the very pleasant receptionist. Can’t believe I paid £90 for this !
1nught stayvwith my sister for a short break and night out. Staff were all helpful and friendly....especially the young man who checked us in. You can see the hotel is undergoing renovations which is great.slightly disappointed that our room was very dated and not like the pictures on the website which must be the renovated rooms. Our room was however spacious and clean and had everything that we required for our stay so no complaints there. The toilet didn't always flush though and a few hairs in the bath. Our room seemed to be next to an office as we could hear conversations with our window open from next door.didnt bother us as it was during the day, couldaso hear loud music but again it was the daytime so didn't bother us. We were close enough to walk into town and the night porter happily let us back in after our night out. Breakfast was OK, had to ask a few times for items to be replenished but food was hot and enough choice. We would come back again.…
I'll start with the positives. All staff I engaged with were very nice. The room, although small, (not much bigger than the bathroom) it was clean and perfectly adequate for my needs. And there was a wonderful smell of Asian food / spices emanating around the hotel when I checked in. The negatives. I was informed on checking in that due to refurbishment work there was limited / no wifi in the room, but I was welcome to sit in reception and use the wifi there. When I enquired as to what time breakfast was (which was included in the price) I was informed that due to refurbishments there was no breakfast available. As an alternative I was told town centre was only a mile away or I could order "Just Eat". No other compensation was offered. The refurbishments weren’t mentioned by hotel staff when they phoned me a couple of weeks before hand, to advise me of their new policy about taking a £100 refundable deposit on checking in. I booked the hotel via Hotels.com and there was no advice on there about refurbishments at the time of booking. The shower in the room was faulty. It was the type of shower that is fed from a mixer tap over the bath and you raise a plunger to divert the flow of water from the taps to the shower head. The fault was, when you attempt to divert the water flow, you got approx. 80/20 split of water flow in favour of the bath taps. I reported it the next morning and while I was out for the day, someone did look at it, but failed to fix it. But they did leave a towel rapped around the mixer tap. I didn't expect a room with a view but did expect to be able to see out of the window, it was so dirty that I couldn't see the street outside, from the 1st floor. I don’t recognise any of the photos shown on Trip Advisor. Overall not impressed at all. Would I recommend this hotel? Only to people I don’t like.…
We arrived at the hotel and walked past a group of guys smoking in the entrance to find there was no one to check us in there was no bell just a phone on the wall we tried call but the phone did not work after 5 mins we decided to use a mobile to call the hotel after ringing and ringing one of the smoking men came in and turns out it was the guy to check us in, we booked a deluxe room but the room was sub standard, we went out for the night and returned after 1am to find the key card no-longer worked after a long walk back downstairs (didn't trust the lift as it looked like it was from the 1940,s and had never had a service) the guy at the desk basis all the cards reset at midnight each night. our check out time was 11Am at 0900 a cleaner just walked in when she realised the room was occupied she left but we were awake then we decided to shower at 0930 the manager hammered on the door when I answered (in my pants) she was telling me there was no one booked in this room and asked if we complained about the carpet last night. The service here is the worst I could probably over look all this if the hotel didn’t look like a crack den. In all I will never stay here again.…
Stayed here with my 4yr old. Although old and midst renovation the room was spotless and clean. Looking forward to seeing the end result and you can see the standard the management are hoping to achieve. Only downside with our room was the lighting from the outside emergency exits so a black out curtain would be a great idea (and air con). Not sure if I would stay again with my little one though unless in winter where window can be shut, it was very noisy with other adult guests making up for lost romance and having the window open meant hearing a lot of noises. I think I managed 2hrs sleep. Not the hotels fault but would have liked to been able to not hear everything with my daughter in the room There was another family staying which made me a ltitle less anxious. Staff were great and nothing was any trouble. Easy to find. Parking was daunting as on a slope but was ok once in car park and I was offered the opportunity to move it to the front of the hotel. Nice new shower and bathroom furniture. Bedding clean. Floor clean. Room 206. Impressive entrance. Lots of outside building work going on from about 10am and builders very pleasant and considerate. Think this will be an incredible hotel in the future.…
When I got to book an ensuite double for £31, I feared the worst but on arrival I was made to feel welcome. My room was worth a fair bit more than what I paid. The hotel is refurbing rooms 1 by 1 but if this room is the standard they are using, then I cant wait for an opportunity to come back and stay again. Also the reception guys can't help you enough.
Last minute booking for our honeymoon after marrying in August 2020. Arrived early and was grated by Hayley who was fantastic and was very polite and helpful throughout our stay. Despite being early Hayley checked and told us we Could check in as our room was randy. The room was lovely with plenty of space and was very clean. All staff where very polite and very nice and where a pleasure to meet. Breakfast was amazing freshly cooked to order with options of toast cereal plus coffee and fresh apple /orange juice with no limits They went out of there way to do what they could to make our stay enjoyable and we where so surprised after returning from a day out to a beautiful display of 2 kissing swans displayed on the bed with petals and complementary sweets and biscuits as a honeymoon gift. We can't wait to go back to see them again and look forward to seeing the new renovations completed. The car park was a bit steep but was not an issue for us. To the hotel manager who we met and all of the staff Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable.…
Weekend stay with family. We arrived early and requested to check in early. The receptionist dealt with our request and got the room ready for us as quickly as possible. Had a lovely stay. Breakfast was superb with plenty of it and good quality. Would definitely book again for my next visit and would highly recommend it.
I stayed for a couple of nights for a business visit. Firstly, I was extremely happy with the quality of the package and the service I received. My room was clean comfortable and the amenities were plentiful. Breakfast was included with my booking and it was good value for the price. The receptionist was absolutely lovely and professional. Plus the car parking is free which a bonus as not many hotels this close to the city centre offer free parking.
