Sei Devy in the lounge gave excellent service. Always with a smile and extremely helpful. The hotel is classic but very clean and the rate was very affordable for premium rooms. Location is premium. Sri definitely gave the best service we could ask for.

We stayed on Monday 20th before our flight early the next morning.
The service we recieved before our arrival was excellent from the hotel manger. We needed to change the date from the night before due to a holiday change. Initially the customer relations department were unhelpful and wouldn't allow us to swap. It was completely out of our control, however after explaining to the manager of the hotel directly he swapped the dates for us for a small fee due to the dates being a different cost.
Upon arrival we were told they had given us a free upgrade to a club room as we are members, how lovely I thought.
However when we got to the room it had not been cleaned from the previous traveller (we arrived after 17.00 in the evening). In fact it smelt as though the person had only just left the room as I could smell the iron had been used (which was also still out) The room was a state (not the hotels fault as such) and can't believe people treat hotel rooms this way. Anyway rather then both of us go down to reception as we couldn't get through on the phone (hotel was NOT busy) I stayed I the room (im pregnant and was tired lol) and my boyfriend went to get the room changed.
The lady on reception stated she would speak with the manager and see if there was anything they could do to compensate us. However no one got back to us.
The room was lovely and comfortable, but not to the same standard as other crowns plazas we have stayed in. The lack of plugs near the beds is a point to highlight. A small thing in terms of room useability, however it is baffling as to why a high end hotel would not have at least one power point at the bedside.
The bed was big and comfy, the space was roomy and there was plenty of storage. Having the choice of bath or separate shower is nice.

Dear Mantytodd, Thank you for your recent stay here at Crowne Plaza London Gatwick Airport. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to leave us the feedback we really appreciate it! I see that during your stay there seem to have been a few minor problems I have passed on these comments to the management team here to discuss, I would also like to apologise that the room was not up to standard when you arrived. However, I hope that we can welcome you back to show that this is not usually the level of standard we wish for our guests to receive when they arrive with us. Once again, thank you for your feedback and I do hope we can invite you back again soon. Kind Regards, Mubashar Butt General Manager

+1
I was pleasantly impressed with my initial experience here. Room was mainly clean and well decorated. Was well pleased with the complementary tea, coffee, water, and tea biscuits offered. Wonderful offering of plentiful towels, bathrobe, and toiletries. LOVED that there was an actual bathtub and plenty of USB and plugs to charge devices.
Downside was room was extremely cold (super windy day & cold day upon my arrival) and window was unlocked and open. Took a while for the heater to warm room, but thankfully it worked wonders when coldness cleared room.
Bathtub contained rusty/ dirty looking areas under facet and handles. Desk chair was stained with spots of unknown origin.
Room isn’t soundproof as I can clearly hear the motorway and all the cars (sounds like window is still open but isn’t). Odd residual sounds are a constant in room ( like that of a fan, motor, squeaky, or constant low boiling water sound) surrounding you. Makes sleeping a bit hard, even with sleeping medication.
Laundry service is offered but not listed in/ on page detailing services in information book. Only discovered this in a draw after I hand washed all my laundry in preparation for continued traveling after my stay here ends. Would have been helpful to know to help lessen my time spent away from other things.
As this is a bit far from other locations would help if you had a car as you’ll have to take buses to train station or cabs. If your feet are blistering and sore like mine, you could walk to closer places.
Lovely restaurants and bar with free breakfast buffet offered in the morning.

I have been a regular trip advisor contributor for many years and to my great sadness this was one of the worst experiences I have had. Crimson hotels who own the Crowne Plaza Crawley need to sort out some real problems. We had taken advantage of their offer to upgrade to a club room while stressing that because of a lung illness I was unable to walk more than a couple of hundred yards and needed to be near a lift and facilities. It turned out that the club rooms are in a later annex to the main hotel involving a walk of a least 400m from the lift. By the time I had walked to the room I was incapable of walking back and a wheelchair was brought by the on duty manager. Our new room was small with no walk in shower. It turned out that the walls were thin so next doors activity was clearly audible.
We were told on arrival that room servicing was now on request. This was odd as COVID rules in England were now very relaxed and amongst guests masks were largely not worn and by staff often ‘below the nose’ was a common feature. We requested room servicing via reception on the 2nd day and on return nothing was done. The same duty manager came and brought towels and water etc with apologies. The following morning the housekeeper was working next door and I told her that she could service my room which was acknowledged. On return in the evening again it remained untouched. This time we insisted that it should be serviced. The table lamp in the room wasn’t working. The main tap on the sink in the bathroom sprayed beyond the sink if turned on full.
The main restaurant was closed in the evenings and the bar area became the very crowded main eating area for this allegedly 4 star hotel. The staff were eager and willing but by the 3rd night of our stay people were queuing to find a table and the bar area had to be extended with the service times long because of too many guests and not enough staff. The food was good quality which is why I have given the hotel 2 stars. Queuing for breakfast was also an issue on the Sunday morning.
Although reduced with apologies our bill was over £430 for the 3 nights including breakfast and 2 main courses on 2 nights. The hotel had clearly not adapted adequately to a larger number of guests and was lacking proper resources. I also felt discriminated against as a person with a disability unable to access a better room. Sadly although an ihg platinum member I don’t think I would stay here again.

Response from Crowne Paza Gatwick, Owner at Crowne Plaza London - Gatwick Airport, an IHG hotel
Responded Aug 27, 2021
Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at Crowne Plaza London-Gatwick Airport. First of all, please accept my apology for the shortcomings you have experienced during your stay with us and appropriate action has been taken to avoid these issues in the future. I have now looked into the issue you have raised and understand that we have offered a Club room as per your booking request and I am sorry if the location of the Club wing was not explained properly upon check in. I wish you could have mentioned your stay preferences in advance so we would be able to advise you before your arrival and have offered an alternative room type closer to reception along with the busy timings in the restaurant and bar. However, I am pleased to hear about the positive responses of the Duty Manager and has tried to make your stay comfortable each time you have contacted the reception team. In terms of issues in the room, I have asked the relevant teams to have a look into your comments, especially the housekeeping service and rectify to avoid these issues in future and thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have also taken a note of your comments about the discriminatory treatment and was surprised to read, as we treat all the guests and staff with dignity and respect. However, as I have mentioned above this is always helpful if we get the stay preference to make sure we allocate the rooms with preferred features in advance to avoid any inconvenience to your stay, especially during the high occupancy. Once again please accept my sincere apology for the shortcomings during your recent stay. Please be assured that this was not our usual service standards, and we hope you will give us an opportunity to welcome you back and restore your faith in our hotel and brand, should you be visiting Crawley or Gatwick areas in near future. Sincerely Yours, Mubashar Butt, General Manager

Room was dirty. Ordered the dinner @£21 but nobody could offer us a menu for this. Food is very overpriced for the quality. I had the curry and tbh I've had better tinned curry at home. Johanna ( I think was her name) at the bar is very rude! They also put a discretionary service charge on top of your drinks and food bill. I think Johanna became rude after I asked why I was paying £5 more for my food compared to the menu prices, she took it off after I questioned the price and became a different person to the pleasant lady that had started off serving us

We stayed in a club room which includes a tv in the bathroom, a rainfall shower, larger beds and generally bigger rooms (well worth pay extra for). The hotel is really clean, the staff are friendly and attentive, it has a decent gym and plentiful breakfast on offer. Can't fault the place.

I have to stay here relatively often on business and I have always been relatively relaxed about it as a hotel. It’s not ever going to be a “treat” to stay here but it is convenient for a number of businesses, even if it is some distance from Gatwick itself.
This time however, I just felt it was a really bad experience from beginning to end. It started when I arrived and one member of staff was sullenly arguing with a guest (who was being polite and well mannered I thought). The receptionist’s body language was very dismissive and disrespectful. My check in was ok (with another individual) but who couldn’t be bothered to find my IHG number and assign it to my account, even though it should be on the system so I didn’t collect any points or have any of the other benefits of actually being a regular guest at this place. Then up to the room via some very badly cleaned corridors which are starting to look depressingly badly maintained. The room had a dirty coverlet and the lampshades were badly stained (with what I cannot guess but it was pretty unappetising). The main problem was the temperature in the room which was stiflingly hot regardless of the temperature set on the air con and without being able to open a window meant I spent the night in sauna like conditions! When I mentioned it to the receptionist the next morning, she told me that it is because it’s winter so the hotel has the heating on. Why then attempt to pretend each room has individual temperature control is beyond me but if you like to be able to control your own room temperature, this is not the place for you. All in all a disappointing stay and I will be looking to move my custom elsewhere.

Nice stop, staff are very helpful at every touch point . Room was a club room , big and very clean , subdued colours and very comfy .
Food was nice , the Ceaser was huge , thought the chicken might have been warmed up but other than that very good .
Gym, was nice and well equipped.
Parking was reasonable at £10.
What I detest :
A “discretionary 10% service charge added to your bill automatically without any one knowing as it charged to the room without signing . This is just a way of cheating people , if you want to give your team more , pay them more and include in the price , don’t cheat customers . There is no option but to table service , I am 10 foot from the bar . Order a drink ,pour the wine walk 3 steps serve wine , that’s 10% more thanks

During the pandemic, and in past a year and a half, I have stayed in the Crown Plaza London about 10 times.
ALL the staff in the hotel are very friendly, and very helpful in all aspects. Even the hotel manager Mr/Khorsheed is always around, and he personally assisted me in few occasions.
The hotel location in very convenient, it’s few minutes away from Gatwick airport, a 10 minutes walking from the town center, and about 6 minutes drive to Boing Training Center.
My dining experience was very good, the room service menu has a large variety of international dish’s, the bar in lobby area has also good snacks, and they even have a Starbucks section in the bar.
Room are clean and spacious, the housekeeping staff are always around to offer any items you need for the room.
If you are in Gatwick, I recommend this place for your staying.

Great to finally be staying in a hotel again after such a long time.
I had originally booked myself into the Ibis but they unfortunately had a fire and booked me into the Crowne Plaza.
Check in was pretty straightforward. I had to enter my car details into the computer, which is the norm these days. I did query the following morning whether I had to pay and with little conviction from the member of staff I was told 'it was fine'. We'll see.
The room was clean and of a good size for an airport hotel. It is maybe slightly dated now with darker wood and a lack of power sockets next to the bed. As with all IHG hotels, there's always an ironing board and iron in the cupboard, which is so much easier than asking at reception and carrying it back to the room.
WiFi signal and speed was brilliant. There were toiletries and a kettle as expected.
I was told that breakfast was a takeaway and fully expected a pre-packed brown bag with a pastry and piece of fruit so I was surprised to find a full English breakfast on offer along with cereals, pastries, yoghurts, etc. It is served in a container and you can then take this back to your room.
In these tough times, I'd say they're doing great and would definitely recommend this hotel. Just need to clarify about the parking as the signs in the car park aren't matching the information given at reception.

You hardly need Airconditioning in the UK at the end of October. Heating needed more at that time of year.
