The Mercure Milton Keynes Hotel is nestled in a serene location near a golf course and is a stone's throw from local dining gems, as many travelers have found. While guests have called out the clean, comfortable rooms and appreciated amenities like the gym, some have experienced service shortcomings. The hotel offers modern touches and outdoor dining, but noise and maintenance issues have marred the atmosphere for some. Opinions on value and service vary, with praise for affordability contrasting with criticisms of dining costs and inconsistent service.

Greeted by a friendly receptionist wearing a mask and took your temperature then informed us that the bar and restaurant was closed and that the breakfast was a cold grab and go bag,the room was very clean and beds comfortable had a really lovely sleep. There was hand sanitizer in reception and also in the room along with masks. A very COVID friendly hotel. The Grab a go breakfast was delivered to your door at the time you asked for and inside was a fresh croissant, apple, banana, orange juice, breakfast bar and a yogurt drink which was nice and worth the money.i have no complaints with this hotel but during COVID it’s a different experience with the bar and restaurant closed after a pre booked meal off site with a time slot of 2 hrs spent the Rest of the evening in the room not our usual plan normally would use the bar for a quite social drink and begin the day with a cooked breakfast so very different in these times. I would stay here again and recommend to others but not for us at the moment during COVID as paying £80 to sit in a room didn’t seem worth it there was nothing around the hotel to walk to plus the English weather was against us rain and winds. We will back hopefully one day.

Hi Vicky, Thank you for your review. It is good to hear you felt safe and secure and had a good night's sleep. It has been said they have the most comfortable beds within Milton Keynes. We appreciate your patience as things return to a 'new normal'. We can confirm that although the restaurant is not open, we are encouraging guests to use the areas around the hotel including the gym, seating areas both inside and out, as well as taking advantage of our 24 hour drinks service. We do hope to see you again very soon, but understand if you would prefer to wait until everything in and around the area fully returns to normal. We wish you well in the meantime. MMK

Arrived masked up & were welcomed with sanitizer & similarly masked, welcoming staff who explained all the precautions the hotel was taking along with a list of recommended Deliveroo takeaway places who deliver to the hotel which will provide disposable knives & forks. For drinks you can order what is effectively room service. You need to remember your car registration the register the car for the parking at a terminal at the reg. Desk. Room was lovely & clean with a kit of sanitiser and water. Shower is fabulous! Upon leaving you put your plastic key cards in a container of sanitiser. Very happy with the hotel given the current times. A safe stay!

We booked our stay with the hotel directly, as it appeared to offer a peaceful retreat; ideal for breaking up our long journey.

On arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist, and quickly got the keys to our room. The Superior room was on the top floor, and had a great view over the golf course.

It was decorated to a high standard, the beds were comfortable, and the shower (although taking several minutes to come through hot) was quite powerful.

Breakfast was very enjoyable, and offered plenty of choice - fruit, pastries, cereals, cooked items and yogurt. All of the staff that we encountered here, were very helpful and friendly.

The only slight negatives during our stay were both guest related - this consisted of several noisy guests in the corridors in the early hours, with another deciding to set off the fire alarm at 03:40am.

Although neither was the fault of the hotel, the receptionist did apologise for the fire alarm at check out.

I'd definitely stay again, and would happily
recommend this hotel to friends & family.

I have used Mercure for a number of years had have had a pleasant start every time, Until my last experience.
In all fairness the staff were very polite, helpful and friendly. That's as far as it goes.
We booked a room for £90 - 1 night plus £27 for breakfast.
We arrived in the evening to check in only to find that the restaurant was closes (Due to COVID). I'll point out at this stage that all bars and restaurants were allowed to open and were indeed open in the area. I asked what our options were for breakfast, given that the restaurant was closed. We were told that we'd receive a 'grab bag', consisting of a carton of orange, a croissant, a small yogurt ring, a serial bar, an apple and a Banaba. Not really £27 worth of breakfast.
We got to our room only to find that we has 1 single 300ml bottle of complementary water to share between 3 people, so I had to go out to buy water, because the water in the mini bar was prohibitively expensive.
Later in the evening I ran a bath only to find the bathtub was filthy. Hairs and toenail clippings were floating around in the water. Absolutely disgusting.
The final cherry on top is that today ( 1 week after our stay ) I have just received a £100 parking fine for parking on their carpark, even though I gave my vehicle registration details to the receptionist upon checking in.
I am absolutely livid with the entire experience at Mercure Milton Keynes and will never be using them again. Shocking. Entirely unacceptable.
I have had to frantically call their complaints department to try and get the PCN dropped. I will not be paying the ridiculous fine and I will challenge it in court if I have to.

Dear Peter, We are sorry to hear about your experience, this is not the lasting memory we would like to leave you with. The hotel prides itself on our stringent cleaning standards so your review is most shocking and something we will be taking extremely seriously. With regards to breakfast, it is unfortunate that our kitchen is currently closed, however we have tried to make this clear to all guests on all booking platforms prior to arrival. Our staff are trying to be as helpful as possible in arranging alternative options. The breakfast to go bag is available for £5 and we are offering 24 hour drinks orders as well as use of all areas around the hotel to safely eat any arranged deliveries. We would also always replenish any water you require on request. Our parking is free of charge. We do have the area monitored to ensure it is only guests that can take advantage of the parking spaces. To guarentee you are parking for free, our reception and signs around the hotel guide all guests to input their details into the parking registration tablet. We apologise that you did not see the signs and tablet at check in. We are happy to share your proof of stay for you to pass onto creative parking for them to void the charge. We do hope you will visit again so we can leave an impression that is more in keeping with our usual standard. We look forward to welcoming you. MMK

We had booked two rooms and paid 3x £12 for two nights total £72 for breakfast due to Covid 19 the restaurant and bar were closed. So breakfast was a croissant, apple and caprisun in a paper bag. We were not informed that the restaurant and bar were closed as we would have looked for a different hotel. Hotel in general very nice and clean.

I would highly recommend the mercure hotel in two mile ash. It is very clean and smells beautiful as you walk in. The receptionist was very warm and welcoming and the night staff were very helpful. The room that we stayed in was to a high standard very quiet and looked out to the golf course. Had an amazing nights sleep the bed was very comfortable. I will definitely be coming back soon and recommending to family and friends thank you so much!

Arrival was excellent at the reception, greeted by Natalie who was very cheerful and attentive. However, once inside our room (Superior), we noticed the TV didn’t work (no free view only 4 channels available), dirty mark on carpet, phone didn’t work and TV remote on the underside covered in squashed food. Went back down to reception (as phone didn’t work). Cara who was training on reception was sent to our room with cleaning equipment, followed by the cleaners. Cara was great, given she was only training, she was very apologetic. We asked to change rooms but were advised as they had a wedding ceremony, the hotel was fully booked. Natalie on reception made sure our room was changed the following day with an upgrade to a Privilege room (with the help from Tracey on reception too). This room was very good and everything worked!

Unfortunately they only had bar food available as the restaurant was closed, the second night their fryer broke and a supplier had let them down so a very limited menu with no fries.

I feel overall the front of house staff were placed in a very awkward situation, let down by the cleaners. After all, the rooms should be Covid clean… missing squashed food on the tv remote was worrying, and made us wonder about the rest of the room.

We have emailed the manager before posting this to give them chance to address our concerns. Unfortunately a week later no reply.

We stayed for 2 nights as we were attending the Silverstone classic. On arrival we were greeted by a very professional receptionist who was very polite. Upon reaching our room it had a tag on the door stating the room had been cleaned and sanitised. This was not the case as we found biscuit crumbs on the floor, dried sticky coffee on the bed side cabinets, a used face mask in the drawer and hair in the bath. The service in the restaurant was very slow and in the bar was even slower as we had to keep reminding them of our drinks order which took about 15 minutes to arrive. I understand it has been difficult in getting good staff following the year we have all gone through, but feel that the hotel needs an old hand to help the young staff as I’m sure they were trying their best but had no direction.

I sent an email of complaint as I have stayed at this hotel and other hotels from this chain in the past and have alway had an amazing experience and didn’t want to leave a bad review, I was hoping for at least an apology or an explanation, however I got no reply so I am copy and pasting my email here as I am extremely upset with the lack of a response and upset with my experience this time!
**********
Good Afternoon
I am really sad to be writing this and having stayed with you previously have thought long and hard about sending this at all as it’s not my usual experience with this chain of Hotels, which is why I am writing to you personally rather than through a review site.
I stayed last night in room 119 and from check in everything was amazing!
I honestly cannot fault reception as they were so very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately when we had been i our room for 20 mins our air conditioner started pouring water down the wall and splashing on the chair in which my jumper was on and got completely soaked.
We switched it all off and the electric socket underneath and alerted reception who said they would send someone out asap.
A lady turned up a few minutes later, threw a few towels down and said well it’s cool enough in here anyway!
I suffer night sweats and ended up having a very uncomfortable night! I choose hotels specifically with air con for this reason!
I understand the hotel was probably full due to the concert we were attending but I was quite shocked with how it was just swept under the rug! We were unable to sit on the wet chair, my jumper was soaked and we were very concerned about the wet electrical socket!
Then at breakfast which we were informed at reception ended at 10.30 a gentleman said we were late as we were there at 10am
He then said do you actually have a room here then checked our names off and said “I don’t care I’m leaving in a minute anyway”
We literally grabbed a very small amount of food as not to upset and make anyone late when 2 other couples came down and were checked of and seated without comment?
This really upset me as I felt extremely embarrassed and singled out!
This has made me very cautious to book with you in the future.

My arrival experience was not great, I made enquiries at reception about the EV charging point in the car park, and the receptionist could not advise me on how to set up charging, (there's only one charging point) and there was no service in the lounge/bar area at lunchtime, I had to ask a passing member of staff if I was OK to order lunch, who subsequently had to find someone else to take an order. However despite this its fair to say all other engagements with hotel staff were generally good. The hotel is in a good location and fine for a business traveller, bar/lounge area is good and the food was OK.

In my opinion there are some fundamental elements a hotel should provide, and many of the national chains fail due to prioritising other services. A comfortable clean bed, Clean room/environment, and quiet nights sleep.

It was clear no pre-room checks had been completed for my check in, the air conditioning/heating was turned off at the fuse spur, next to the unit mounted near the ceiling, so the room was very cold, all but one of the four lights next to the bed worked, there was drink stain down the side of the bed, debris in the chair and hair on the bathroom floor. The bed was uncomfortable as the mattress clearly needed replacing, very lumpy and uneven. It's these very basic attention to detail elements that let the big nationals down (Mecure, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Premier Inn etc.) so many times. Basin maintenance and room checks should be customary, and part of the hotels duty of care to their guests. Finally a quiet nights sleep, why are rooms located next to boilers, consumer units, lifts, busy hotel areas etc. there were times it sounded like I had a lorry revving it's engine outside my room through the night, no idea what it was but assumed it was some sort of commercial heating or consumer unit located near by.

It would be fair to ask why I didn't report this, to be honest why should I, it's not my responsibility to make sure the lights work, the room is pleasant and warm on arrival, cleaning is satisfactory and beds are worth the £125 per night room charge. Basics which I will feature in a ll my future reviews as I'm frankly sick of the slack and unprofessional approach national chains have to providing simple and fundamental elements that are important and justifiable.

If my room provided met these standards it would have been a 4-5star review.
