We were 2 out of 13 people (rooms allowed up to 180, but Tier 3/4 customers were denied, or had their booking cancelled) staying for just Christmas Eve and Day, before Tier 3 closed this very comfortable hotel on Boxing Day. The few staff were all brilliant and took time to look after us, albeit in a total lack of atmosphere. Nice touches were a lit Christmas tree and presents waiting in our room. In normal times, it's clear this venue would be perfect for festive, or any other occasions. On the minus side: the Internet speed is just 3 Mbps and made the essential Zoom calls impossible. The hotel boasts having high speed fibre, but with so few customers sharing bandwidth, then a visit from their provider must happen as soon as possible. Secondly, the 'tight' bathroom in the 'taste of class' room was devoid of anywhere to hang: clothes, towels, pyjamas, etc. With only a small towel airer for the 4 large towels, then a rail fixed to the glass shower partition, along with 2 hooks on the back of the door, and a towel rig to the side of the airer, would have made the bathroom much more practical. Low cost, but a big result. Thanks for our stay. The TP Team are all really nice people!

Response from P Jones, General Manager at Tewkesbury Park

Thank you for posting your review of Christmas at Tewkesbury Park and, although we're glad you had a good time, we were truly saddened that we couldn't host in our normal bustling atmosphere. The number of guests was always going to be slightly fewer this year than in previous years but we couldn't foresee that with just hours to go before the planned arrival, our numbers of guests would dwindle from above 75 to just 13 because of Government-imposed restrictions. However we decided that, so long as any of our guests wanted to visit, the show must go on! And it did. Thank you for your kind comments about our team, who've done a sterling job throughout the year. I will certainly look into the internet speed issues you noted, since we have a 200Mbps fibre speed with a 1000Mb band width. The infrastructure kit, which circulates everything throughout the property was sold to us as the Rolls Royce "Ruckus" kit and so, the problems you encountered shouldn't have been the case at all. During this now third lockdown, we're looking into some refurbishment plans to put in place improvements for the years ahead. One such plan is to amalgamate two existing rooms into one, which will solve the small and tight storage issues you highlighted. So, may I thank you so much for coming to Tewkesbury Park and once we're back up and running again in the spring, we look forward to welcoming you again. When we're busy, the atmosphere is fabulous. With best wishes and Happy New Year! Patrick Jones General Manager

Decided to stay at Tewkesbury Park as a weekend away for my birthday. Stunning views from the grounds. Another of effort had been made with Christmas decorations in the reception area, and we received a warm welcome. Our room was on the ground floor and also had impressive views. Very comfortable bed and superb shower. We had dinner at the hotel on our first which was very good. Overall highly recommended 😃

We stayed for one night at Tewkesbury Park Hotel where we decided to stay as a halfway stop on our way to Cornwall. We booked directly with the hotel on a Paws and Prosecco offer which included Prosecco, Dinner, bed and breakfast for us for one night, and breakfast, a doggy dinner plus treats for our dog. On arriving a lovely long drive leads up to the hotel alongside the beautiful surrounding golf course views. Covid measures were in place throughout the hotel, allowing us to feel safe whilst not allowing it to hinder our enjoyment during the stay. Check in was easy and handled perfectly by pleasant and courteous staff. We stayed in a dog friendly, “Just Right” Double room on the ground floor with patio doors that open out to a seating area overlooking the beautiful views of the golf course. We were not disappointed with the room that was large, spotlessly clean and had a large comfortable bed. There is no penny pinching at this hotel with the amount of quality of complementary products available in the room. White Company Toiletries, Nespresso coffee machine, Clipper teabags, fresh milk in the fridge and bottled water. Our dog was also catered for with treats, a sturdy raised bed, toy, towels and bowls. We had a good hour long walk around the golf course on the day we arrived. Unfortunately, the weather was awful, so we did get soaked through but still, what a fabulous highly recommended long and beautiful walk it was. We dined in the dog friendly Piano Bar/Lounge for our evening meal, away from the main restaurant as we usually expect to when staying away with our dog. The menu was a set three course menu as included as part of our package. Although It was a restricted menu, we still had plenty of choice and the quality of the food was superb. Locally sourced ingredients, attentive and helpful service, where nothing was too much trouble. Our dog was also brought a lovely chicken dinner as his meal choice (I don't think he could quite believe it!) For breakfast, the next day it was again just perfect. Lots of choices for cooked options and a cold platter with cereal, juice, pastries/muffins and coffee/tea were brought to the table by the attentive friendly staff. Just like the evening before, our dog was also catered for, with a cooked breakfast brought to him from the kitchen. Listen up other hotels that think they are dog friendly, this is how you ensure your hotel dog friendly!! Overall, we just have to say that this hotel is a delight. The staff cannot do enough to please. The facilities and catering are top quality. The staff went above and beyond from the moment we checked in until we walked out of reception. Our only regret is we only spent one night here, but we will be rectifying that in the future. Thank you to all the staff that made this stay a most memorable one for us, despite the circumstances of the times we are in.

Booked at quite short notice as we had not been away for months. Read a few of the reviews, including one that was quite harsh, but felt this could not have been particularly fair. Arrive early afternoon and this this moment on the staff were great, explaining what was or not included, helped with booking the restaurant as they needed to balance space and numbers. Ate three evening meals and whilst not a veggie would highly recommend the cauliflower pakora and the Sri Lankan veg curry. Only disappointment was that we did not manage to try out the pool, very restricted to six people and the booking system did not work for us.

We stayed here for our mini-moon after a tiny Covid wedding in London (it was meant to have been at Tewkesbury Park). We couldn't have made a better choice. We stayed in an Opulent suite - the King Edward IV. It was incredible - bed was so comfortable, had loads of space and the bathroom was amazing, great shower and TV from the bath if we'd wanted! Beautiful views over the grounds. And it was so clean. The staff were absolutely brilliant, so friendly and helpful. It all felt very Covid-safe without being too noticeable. And the food is exceptional - we overheard the people at the table next to us enthusing about it too. I don't expect hotel food to be so good - absolutely full compliments to the chef and all the staff. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back!!
