I was absolutely staggered on arrival to the Lodge as I was expecting a budget hotel at the price I paid and was blown away by its beauty. Greeted by friendly, wonderful staff and shown to a newly decorated, very comfortable room, stocked with teas, coffees and amazing shortcake biscuits that were to die for. Very clean, well appointed, quiet...

First visit here and wasn't disappointed. It was a family birthday party. Our meals were very good. Served by pleasant and welcoming staff. Food presented well. Good choice of menu. Was a lot bigger than I thought, serving a lot of people, lots of groups too not just couples. Really pleased we chose there. Nice idea of having Gift Vouchers...

First visit since the refurbishment and drive past every evening so decided to give it a go for Mum's Birthday. Decor is to a good standard and looks bigger than it used too. Visited Monday lunchtime and had a drink in the bar area first then were taken through to the dining area, which was fairly busy. Waitress was very...

Wow, what a fantastic home form home experience. Went for 4 nights, 2 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs. Yes, the décor had bits that could be tarted up, but for the cost, and being only 20 mins drive away from the Lake District, it was PERFECT. From the time we arrived to the time we left, staff were so...

Rarely has there been so much good feedback from everyone about the range and quality of the food and the lovely helpful service. A great building and a memorable...

» Reception was welcome & helpful - but unfortunately the whole experience went steeply downhill from there » Worn & tired bedrooms, bathrooms - bed has seen many miles, sank badly in middle » Restaurant, bar decor - bland, no character » Restaurant staff - rushed, uninterested, unsmiling » Restaurant food : » starter tasters of mini sausages served in...

We were here for dinner at 8 pm it was quite busy, the food was served at a perfect pace, Ie from initial order of drinks and food nothing was slow or rushed and the staff were all lovely. Stayed here for 2 nights in a family room. Room is very spacious and decor is very clean and fresh. We received a welcome drink as soon as we arrived and the homemade biscuits in your room are both a lovely touch. Breakfast was lovely, no faults at all and the the main meal we had on the evening was...
