Typical of a Malmaison hotel. Good décor, excellent bar, good service and first class breakfast (best pot of tea I have had in years). I stayed here with work colleagues and we were our for most of the evening but the booking in, room standard and experiences in the bar and brasserie (breakfast) were all first class.

This hotel is very close to Manchester Piccadilly railway station. And from it one can walk very quickly to the main shopping areas and sights of Manchester city centre. The staff are polite and extremely helpful. The interior is modern and clean. There is free WiFi throughout, which is useful because of the poor reception of certain networks there. The... More

We went for an overnight stay in Manchester we had booked a family room as we took our two young children. Although rooms were not ready until 2pm we checked in early to make the most of it. We were greeted at reception by our receptionist, Kate she was very welcoming and could not do enough for us, she really... More

Room fantastic, breakfast not so. It was cold, the scrambled egg was lovely, the bacon and mushroom were rubbery! We asked 3 times for more toast and each time the waiter said I will bring some but never did. At nearly £17 for a full English you would expect it to be at least warm.

Very conveniently located a couple of minutes walk from Piccadilly station. Lovely comfortable bed and excellent shower room. It's on a busy road (some building work noise in the morning) but I was on a business trip so it didn't matter. Excellent breakfast in the restaurant (where I also ate the night before - lovely veggie risotto). I must say... More

Malmaison is always fab. Great value at £44. They seem to have some great offers for rooms & food. Central location about 5 min walk from market street. 12pm check out is good. Would defiantly stay again.

Had a lovely stay here recently. The room was extremely spacious and chic with all the facilities one would need. Amazingly comfortable bed for a really good nights sleep. We booked a table in the Brasserie for our evening meal which was extremely tasty. Marvelous meal, good service in comfortable surroundings with a lovely ambiance. Well looked after by all... More

We've stayed at the Malmaison a few times and we've always enjoyed the experience. Our recent visit was no exception. The executive double room was modern, well appointed and meticulously clean, the staff are always friendly, interactive and helpful, and the well situated hotel itself has an easygoing and relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to our next stay.

About 12 of us drank here all night on a Sunday and we were supposed to have waitress service. It took at least 10 mins to get a drink and at some points, when we checked how long they would be, we were told 5 more minutes! Pretty poor service for an establishment of this ilk.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mal Manchester: In the home of the beautiful game you're about to turn Moulin Rouge. A short trundle for wheel-based luggage from Piccadilly Station and you're at the Mal - somewhere in the mists between Paris and the 24-hour party city. You cross the chessboard reception and suddenly you're a king for the knight. It's your move. Smoak Bar and Grill at Mal Manchester: A grill room and bar quite unlike anything Manchester has ever before seen. Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins. Ember Lounge at Mal Manchester: We could tell you about the Ember Lounge - an immaculate and opulent cocktail bar furtively hidden to the rear of the Smoak Bar & Grill. ... more   less
