It is a perfect base to discover central Strasbourg, easy walking distance to all the main tourist places. I went there during Covid time so it was quiet. The staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. The Room was well equipped with very confortable beds. I recommend.

The stay was great! Friendly staff, great food, and amazing location. The hotel room was very quite, cozy and had all the necessary amenities. All the main restaurants, Christmas market and shops are close by. Overall, the entire staff and surroundings made it feel like home. 😊

The Hotel de l'Ill is a modest 2-star hotel with a great location just
five minutes from Strasbourg's landmark cathedral, across a short
footbridge over the river. The hotel is very close to the quay where
the bateau mouche tour boats depart, and about a 12-minute walk to the
beautiful Petite France district. Plus it's near zillions of
restaurants.

We spent three nights there and were perfectly content. Our simply
decorated room, Number 10, had two very comfortable beds, an updated
bathroom, and the added bonus of opening onto a large terrace, where we
could see the back of the Ste-Madeleine church (and hear its bells
ringing Sunday morning!). Breakfast was served in a cozy wallpapered
parlor decorated with a cuckoo clock. A computer with an Internet
connection was also available. The team of friendly young women on
staff were uniformly sweet and polite. This is a great place to stay
for travelers who don't want to spend a lot but want to be near the
action.

I was in this hotel at Sep. 2014. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very very kind and suportive. I never forget their hospitality. The hotel is near to almost all atraction. It is (almost) near to "La petite France" and very near to university of Strasbourge.
I recommend this Hotel

There are several things to recommend this hotel. The location is good, walking distance to the centre and on the number 10 bus route from the centre, spotlessly clean, welcoming and helpful staff and reasonably priced.
However, it remains a very basic 2 star hotel. It has no lift, fine if you are there for a day or two, but a pain if you are on a 3 week holiday with heavy luggage. The decor is dated, circa 1980s I would guess, and basic, the curtains just stretched across the window. The bed was very firm for our taste and uncomfortable. The room was tiny, I don't mind that, but this one was inconvenient. The corner of the bed almost jutted into the bathroom door. The only place to put the luggage was on the third bed. If you had someone in that, nowhere for luggage at all. It would have been better to say this is a double room and use the space to put the bathroom in a better position.
The TV was in a position that you got a cricked neck watching it, so didn't turn it on. The wifi was poor, with a password that required a separate one for each device, changed daily, consisted of multiple characters and frequently didn't work, requiring a trip to reception. Finally breakfast was pricey and the coffee was poor.
You didn't look forward to returning to your room. I wouldn't stay again,

I stayed at the Hotel de L'ill for about a week on a trip to Strasbourg. I would stay with them again in a heartbeat! Upon arriving, Marilyn took time to show us maps of the city and make recommendations for restaurants and sight-seeing, and she continued to be helpful throughout the week. Every morning when we got up she was there and always talked to us on our way out. The other staff members were wonderful as well!! Everyone was so nice and accommodating. The rooms were the perfect size for what we needed and everything was clean and comfortable. I felt safe in the hotel as there was a pass code to get in. Breakfast every day was awesome!! Next time I am in Strasbourg, I will definitely stay here again.

A quaint and pleasant hotel! The staff shows care and concern about your comfort, safety, and having a positive experience in Strasbourg. The rooms are small and simple by American standards, but anyone who has researched the European hotel experience should expect that. Complimentary continental breakfast every day is far superior to the American equivalent.

If you want it to feel like staying in the Crowne Plaza in Chicago, go to Chicago. But, if you want to enjoy an authentic experience in Alsace, stay at the Hotel de L'ill

+ Wonderful staff, especially the gentleman during the afternoon/evening reception hours. Excellent location, as it is within walking distance to most places of interest.

- The room was facing the street and it got a little noisy at night, even with earplugs.

Just across the river from the cathedral area and tour boats. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable. Just a simple walk to all good areas like the tour boat docks and cathedral. Coin laundry very close. The breakfast was convenient and typical for the price range. There is a school behind the hotel so there will be some noise from children during school hours/days. The hotel is on the opposite side of the city from the train station but we rolled our bags in about 30 min. A taxi would do it in 5 minutes and the bus stops right at the corner. Clean, comfortable and romantic. Highly recommended.

The first thing I noticed was how clean this hotel was. And second was how friendly the staff were. Our room was recently remodeled and it was nice like new... and top quality. The expensive windows had roll-down shutters for total darkness and quietude. The bathroom was shiny and new and had nice fixtures, including towel warmers. The AC was new and cooled the room instantly. The bed was incredible, I wish I could find one like it for my home. And the location was right off the river and just a five minute gorgeous stroll to the cathedral. We got lucky and parked right in front but I could see parking being a hassle. The floors are creaky too and since it's an old building you need to be aware not to be too loud. But those are the only real negatives I can think of. And the price was right, we paid a little over 100 Euro for a triple room on a discount. We didn't take the breakfast since we decided to eat outside at a nearby restaurant. Overall it was an excellent experience.

"We were informed in advance of the size of our room when we made our late reservation and that was not a negative for us because we primarily use it only for sleeping. We did notice the hotel has larger rooms with larger bathrooms."
