While staying in Paris for 2 weeks we decided to take an overnight to Strasbourg by train. I chose Hotel Suisse randomly but because I knew it was close to the cathedral. It was the perfect choice. We could see the cathedral from our window, and the hotel was in a perfect location for walking and exploring the town (which we loved). Our room was comfortable and attractive. We did not eat breakfast there but it looked delicious. The staff were very welcoming even to these non-French speakers.

My wife and I loved this hotel. We came here the week before Christmas and everything was decorated beautifully for the season. It's in a fantastic location by the cathedral and in the center of the various Christmas markets. Their breakfast was outstanding with tasty local baked goods and the French cuisine you'd expect for a light-medium sized breakfast.

The room was very small, but for just my wife and I, it was sufficient. Nicely upgraded bathroom, though the carpets could use a little love.

Would definitely recommend and come back here.

Great location - about 100m from the cathedral. Easy strolling distance to everything in the old city - le petit France, towers, canals, restaurants, shops. Rooms are smallish, but cozy, but starting to show age. Some rooms have great view over the roof tops of the cathedral spires.

We had a Superior Family Room and it was huge. Oddly, the two queen beds were pushed next to each other, so anyone "in the middle" had to climb over others to get out. I'm not sure why there isn't a small separation between the beds. But this was not a problem. We also had a rollaway bed, so each of our two teen boys could have their own bed, and my husband and I shared one of the queens. The room was large, and breakfast was excellent. We had a view towards the cathedral and the Christmas Market which was fun (although the Christmas Market was over when we arrived, so we just watched them dismantling all the little shops). The room was a bit noisy from pedestrian street noise in the daytime, but it was very quiet at night. I'm a very light sleeper and I slept well here. We only stayed one night and had an early wakeup planned (at 7am) and the cathedral bells went nuts at that time. So be aware of that, which is commonplace everywhere in France. It became background noise for us - we heard bells everywhere we went, and it's just part of the fabric of the towns and part of the experience, and it wasn't bothersome at all for us, especially since we were waking up at 7am anyhow. But it could be for others so I wanted to mention it. I think the bells stopped at 10pm until 7am.

Affordable hotel in a great location, right by the Cathedral. The hotel has a great Alsatian vibe that is clean and well taken care of. The staff was extremely friendly and the cafe within the hotel was very nice. I would absolutely stay here again.

Wonderful location in the old city just behind the Cathedral. You said up to the Cathedral helps. The hotel is just off the Cathedral plaza so you a very close to cafes and shops.

Rooms are small but we'll kept. Definitely a good value.

Just an amazing place, they made us feel so welcome, couldn’t do enough to make our stay perfect and all the staff were great with our 7 month old baby. Location is perfect, just metres from the Cathedral, Rohan Palace and river cruise docks. Breakfast is to die for.

Lovely week end in a traditional hotel in the Center of Strasbourg old city. 1’ from the Cathedral, shopping district and restaurant area. The rooms are on the small side but nicely organised, staff is charming and breakfast downstairs is perfect.
To know: no car park but we could easily find a parking place nearby.

I loved this hotel. The staff are kind and helpful, the location was perfect. Right next to cathedral and a block from the river. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Easy to get anywhere from the hotel and it’s walking distance to the train station.

Close by (5 mins) there are public multi stories. When the Sat Nav says your close to the hotel dive into one. It cost us 20-25 euros for just over 24 hrs. No parking in the streets that we saw.

How to travel from the train station to hotel suisse
Answer from frenchkitchen64
Strasbourg, France23 contributions12 helpful votes
Hello, The simplest solution is to walk. It takes about 2à minutes Alternatly, if you want to use public transportation, Take tram C outside the central railway station, stop at Homme de Fer station, take Tram A (which is also reachable two levels below the railway station) to Grand'Rue stop and reach the Cathedral and then the Place du Château. The hotel is nearby. Or get a taxi, for about 10-15 EUR.
