INNKEEPER’S FAVOURITE REVIEW
Reviewed 26 September 2016 via mobile

We stayed with Valerie for 5 nights. She gave us good advice about how to find The Blue Lodge and it was very easy using bus or trams. On arrival good guidance about restaurants, things to do and maps to help us on our way. The breakfasts were delicious, different everyday, always a pastry, bread, fruit and yoghurt with lovely...

Thanks a lot Jan, Toffee is enjoying our lovely walks in the forest now that the very high season work is ending. It was indeed hot when you were home with Brian this summer ! Now, mushrooms picking and fire in the fireplace is taking over breakfasts and dinner in our courtyard. Guess the cruise was an unforgettable experience !...

We were greeted on arrival by the owner who was pleasant and very enthusiastic. However we found the room a little cramped and very warm for us even with the window open a small fan helped a bit. The bathroom was VERY small and there was no space to put anything down except on the floor. On the other hand...

Dear American guest, Thank you for your review. I just add some detailed facts for Tripadvisor readers to embrasse the full picture of your experience. The room you chose is a 18m2 king : hardly a small room for European standards, with private WC ensuite and open bathroom ensuite. The bathroom itself is rather small because it is more like...

Valérie was such a welcoming hostess, she provided a delicious breakfast every day, our room was very homey and the price was great. She helped out planning day trips (check out the St. Emilion wine tour). My friend and I happened to get stuck in town during the marathon (you NEED to research this before you go because it will...

Merci Sandra for your nice recommandation on Tripadvisor. To help further our readers : Bordeaux hosts big events, but not so many. Bordeaux Marathon blocks the inner city for some hours of the night (because this marathon runs from 7PM to early morning hours... no cars... then) and the loop passes at the end of our street onto St Genes...

Valerie greeted us when we arrived and was terrific our whole stay. She helped us plan our visit into the city-bus,tram- advised us on what to see. A great host at this lovely B&B. Our romm was on the first floor in the front but it was never noisy. Breakfasts were delicious. It was like staying at a friends house

My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights in September. We'd had a long drive from the South and arrived a bit knackered, without having done any real research about what to do once we got to Bordeaux. On arrival, we were given a warm welcome by the lovely host Valérie. The room was stunning and had every comfort required....

From previous travels, we have learned that in France the standard on B&Bs is very high and gives more value for money than hotels. Valerie and her gem of a house in the UNESCO part of beautiful Bordeaux raised the bar! You stay in a beautiful home with a hostess who is there for you and makes everything to be...

Valérie is a wonderful host. And her home is a beautiful original 19th century Bordeaux house, with big bedrooms, high ceilings and a lovely courtyard garden. Breakfast is deliciously French and home made. Even the dog is a delight. There is a fabulous restaurant 600 metres away with a Michelin star chef. All in all, you must stay here if...

We spent four nights at the lodge in the Kiss Room and had a fantastic experience. Valerie was welcoming and attentive throughout and her delicious breakfasts kept us fuelled up during our cycles in the day time. The room itself was comfy and attractively decorated and remained warm even during the cold April nights. Valerie was helpful with tips and...

Many thanks for your feedback and very nice review. Toffee is now having a lazy winter, no more walk in the forest to keep her fit ! Too wet at the moment ... So ... time to answer tripadvisor's review to make sure readers are accurately informed. One thing that can help our tripadvisor's readers - linked with the fact...

Valerie makes you welcome here and luckily spoke a bit of English for us as we are still struggling to speak French. A walk of a few minutes will get you to a a tram stop and into town. There are no restaurants nearby so you may need to catch the tram to the city. If you have a car...

Dear customer, You should have say you would have liked a restaurant nearby : we have an excellent one. Called l'absinthe, it stands 5 min walk away and provides a superb and inventive food. I most of the time assume that people do prefer to kill two birds with one stone... eating in the restaurant district and sigh seeing the...

“I only rate sleep quality and location as very good, and not excellent, because my room was on the street, and it was so quiet that when somebody walked by, or a car drove by, it startled me. This is no problem of the Blue Lodge, just the location. Also, the place was a 5-8 minute walk from one of two tram stops; I'd like to be a bit more central, so I will switch to their new B&B next time. But, for commuting south, especially to the university area, you can't beat the location.”
