We arrived early afternoon. An elderly lady greeted us and led us to our room. We stayed on the first floor off a secondary hallway from the main thoroughfare. Our room had a full size bed with an old and soft mattress, a wardrobe, dresser, fireplace, and private bathroom with a standing shower. We were given a key to the... More

There are no hostels in Beaune and even the AirBnB options are expensive. This is one of the few lower priced hotels. The atmosphere is cosy with pleasantly lived-in furniture and a collection of cats. The old lady running the place is kind and welcoming. The back has an nice courtyard and some of the room open directly on to... More

We were charged €60 for a double room including breakfast which was very reasonable. Driving here from the motorway we passed many modern hotels but we bypassed them as we preferred to be near the town centre for a stroll to see shops restaurants etc. this hotel is old fashioned and therefore might not suit everyone but it is a... Have stayed here a few times. Quirky Hotel in a time warp but very interesting. This hotel has been in the Rousseau family for years and is in the centre of Beaune. We think it's like staying at Grandmothers house. Mme Rousseau has looked after us well on our travels.

We were delighted with this bed & breakfast! Convenient location within an easy walk to the town center, charming rooms and garden, friendly service, lovely breakfast of croissant and coffee, all for a great price. I was traveling with my teenage son and daughter; we stayed in a room with two single beds plus a double bed, with our own... More

Great location, quiet yet so close to where it's all going on. This old fashioned hotel offers a quiet place to lay your head. The facilities are basic and there are no frills. That said, if you are like me and you only use a hotel to sleep in, then it's just fine. Good breakfast, pleasant courtyard garden. Private parking... More

At first time you see the hotel, garden, room, you are just amazed, after one night, especially in the morning, everything beaufiful comes away...very uncomfortable beds! Nice, old, but not good to sleep there. Average breakfast. And it is not true that madame Rousseau is running whole hotel by herself. She has at least two more helpers.

From reading other reviews we knew this could go either way, but we loved the idea of a dated, quaint hotel, and were rewarded with a delightful night's at the Hotel Rousseau. It was a rare and precious experience. All criticisms are probably factually correct - bed was uncomfortable etc etc - and if we'd had a room without a... More

If you are looking for a fresh, modernized room -- keep looking. However, if you would like to stay in the house where owner Madame Rousseau was born -- and little has changed in 40-50 years -- book early. This places fills, often with pilgrims and trekkers. I booked two days in May 2013 and stayed for four, mostly because... More

This is an inexpensive (approx. 60 Euros) hotel that includes breakfast at no additional charge. It is located within a 5 minute walk from the Hotel Dieu and tourist office. It is furnished today as it probably was in 1932. Almost nothing appears to have been renewed or refurbished with the important exception of the bathrooms, which include a good... More
