We did not use the spa facilities, which appear to be an attraction, nor do we have complaints about our room. *However,* the restaurant takes my overall assessment down a notch or two: our two main courses simply were not what they were billed as: neither was the veal filet mignon veal or 'mignon,' nor was the trout a trout,...

We have been three times to stay at this hotel for the SOE ceremony in the town. This visit was the best! We had a very comfortable room overlooking the Chateau which was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The hotel has very helpful staff and a pleasant bar and dining room. The food is very good although the breakfasts...

We chose the Hotel because it had a lift! This was a modern Hotel 40 years ago and not much has changed. The bedroom we were allocated had had an update to the bathroom but the double bed was small. The alternative was twin beds that was located about a mile away from the only lift and its bathroom was...

Booked this hotel as a night stop, arrived at 1am and left at 4am the same day. The staff was aware of this and was very friendly and helpful. The night guard did all he could and cared for all we asked for. He prepared a great breakfast at 4am with everything we wished for. The staff made our short...

The hotel was not as grand as its name sounded, but the staff were exceedingly friendly and the bedroom was spotless, although you could tell you were in France. The towels were the size of postage stamps, and they were using the prerequisite 40 – 60 grit grade of sandpaper for toilet paper and the unregulated shower hose that fluctuated...

We recently stayed here with friends as a one night stop over. From the beginning to end we had a lovely experience. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and the wifi was great! We ate at the restaurant for dinner and then breakfast the next morning. Dinner was delicious, our table ordered meals of beef tenderloin, suckling...

This is a pleasant enough hotel but when we stayed it was mid 30sC. The room was very stuffy and the restaurant unbearable with not enough tables on the terrace. For 3 stars it was disappointing not to have air-con. The food was OK, although the salad dressing could have been tastier. The bathroom needs work too as there is...

Stayed here with group and thought it excellent, very reasonable price, clean room, good food and friendly staff. The chateau of Chaumont is very near and worth visiting, was residence of Talleyrand and his furniture etc., is still there. Very well preserved.

We were travelling and booking as we went and this was the only hotel open in Valencay. The room was fairly clean although there was a line of dust along the carpet by the wardrobes. The sink in the bathroom was cracked right across. The bath was tiny and the shower screen scruffy. The steak and chips in the restaurant...

This place is the most tasteless hotel I have ever visited in France, by far! If you have some trace of taste less, stay far away from this disaster. The room was extremely charmless, though perfectly clean. The food was really not good, with all respect. Oh no, the desert was good. Therefore our suspicion that maybe the actual cook...
