Located on the main road running through the old part of the city. Secure parking is provided (at an extra cost) around the corner. To access the parking you need to speak to Reception through an intercom – they don’t always answer, and sometimes forget to open the garage even though you’ve just asked! Otherwise, friendly service. The room was spacious and clean, with several USB outlets for charging multiple devices and good air conditioning. We had a small problem with flooding in the bathroom due to the shower door being opened outwards not inwards (so the rubber seal allowed water to escape) and there was no drain on the floor of the bathroom, so we had to use most of the towels to mop it all up. Once we worked out the cause we had no further problems.
The hotel is situated approximately 12- 15 minutes from Airport Napoleon Bonaparte. It is an 18th century building which has been undergoing extensive alterations for some time.So you could end up with a street view or a view of the building site.We were lucky. It is a reasonably priced hotel and the main advantage is the close proximity to the centre of Ajaccio. The rooms were kept very clean, bedding also. We were able to store our luggage-as we arrived about six hours early- in reception which is situated in a building just up from the hotel. The hotel is accessed through an alleyway where is a lift to the upper floor. The doors to the lift are closed at night but the code to access was displayed for all to see so anyone could get in! Breafast was not included but at 12 euros a throw guests would be advised to wander a little further into town where" petit dejeuner" could be had for almost half that.Receptionist on arrival was reasonably friendly but the morning reeptionist was rude and uninterested despite the Hotel Kalliste means" kindness you always show"!…
Room was clean and tidy, parking was easy in the street in front of the hotel. The receptionist on check in was super helpful, however the receptionist the next morning was grumpy and rude, almost annoyed to respond to a question about directions, just pointing to where the local maps were kept. Our shower had a leak which unfortunately soaked the bathmat which was rolled up in the shower basin. Good wifi, no curtains and the shutters are not able to close properly. Room 319 needs a little attention
Positives -new room well furnished -clean -cool 5 people bedroom family fun! -location very good to visit ajaccio Negatives -reception difficult to find seperate in building to the left -parking is unclear an not easy
They did not give us the advertized free breakfast: I checked the hotel on the web the day before, but did not reserve, as it was not high season and we arrived early. They told me there were only triple room left. We were tired and just accepted. Just after I checked on their own wen site; firstly there were twin rooms available, and secondly the same price for the triple room included breakfast! I went down to the reception and asked why we did not get free breakfast. First they tried to tell me that it was not possible to find better deal on internet, then I showed her their very own web page on my smart phone. Her reaction was: "we are aware of this, this is an error on our web pages"!! The least they could have done is to give us the advertized free breakfast: advertisements are a form for commitment.…
