This is the oldest hotel in Bastia, and it is really charming. We had a superior room with a balcony (room 215), and it was really nice and cosy. Not many modern amenities, perhaps, but we really enjoyed this place. The location is very central – it's an easy walk to the old town and the citadel. When we checked in, they ensured us that the room did have a toilet! Some guests get confused because they can't immediately find it … The explanation is that the toilet is separate from the bathroom in a small space near the window/balcony. It's fine – it's just like a small room built into the room – just a little different! The breakfast room is tiny. There is no breakfast buffet; instead serve you the breakfast individually. The WiFi didn't work terribly well. We would have liked an electric kettle. The staff speak English. We loved the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Perfect location in the city centre, 5 minutes from the main square and to the main shopping streets. The hotel is located in the quiet street and despite the closeness to one of the main streets, there is not so much street noise inside and the room was quiet. The whole hotel was very lovely and unique - a kind of shabby chic boutique-like place. Old house, a lot of antique furniture and original details such as the floor tiles and doors. We stayed at the 4th-floor apartment and we liked everything in it - especially the bookshelves full of old books and a lovely cabinet. The kitchen was very large and well equipped. The breakfast room is very cosy and lovely - you would really want to have a very long and lazy breakfast there! I liked everything on it and would definitely stay there again.

We like to stay in the small hotels when travelling rather than chain hotels, and Hotel Central didn’t disappoint. Our room was small but charming and clean. The little decorating details added to the charm. The bathroom was small too, but perfectly adequate. We had breakfast in the little courtyard which was very pleasant. Staff were friendly and some spoke excellent English. They allowed us to leave our luggage there after checking out as long as needed. The hotel is in a great location. Easy to walk to the bus stops and restaurants, cafes and shops. Some good gelati in town too!

At the recommendation of a Corsican friend, I stayed at this hotel not once but twice. The desk is friendly and its location is ideal if you are coming or going by ferry, since it's a short walk to the pier. The rooms I've had have been quaint and country French. Quite comfortable with their own little balconies. Breakfast is offered and it's a nice continental spread. I'd certainly stay here again. I was flying to and from the island and had a lift but taxi fares are about 40 Euros; there's also a bus that is cheaper. Recommended for a short stay in Bastia, for sure.
