The Hotel de Nice is rated as a three-star, but even by European standards, I would say it is not. We have made nine trips to Europe in the last eleven years, so we’re pretty familiar with what lower-priced hotels have to offer. We chose this hotel for our eight-day stay in Paris after our first choice informed us they...

It was like we fell down the rabbit's hole and found ourselves in the Queen's magical garden. The hotel resembles a doll's house with its bright pink & turquoise wall paper, golden birds and flowery decor. It's a very colourful atmosphere which creates an interesting feeling of fairy tale... The hotel has been recently renovated, the paint and wallpaper is...

Hotel is in the heart of the Marais, great location. Easy walk to Hotel de Ville. Handy to a laundromat in street behind Rue de Rivoli. Quite small room & squeezy bathroom, like most Paris three-stars. We had a second floor room, which was a bit noisy as over the top of a restaurant and overlooking a square. Helpful staff....

My husband and I took both our mothers to Paris for a long weekend and Hotel de Nice was our chosen hotel. I found it recommended in the 'Little Black Book' page in one of the Sunday Magazines some time ago. We wanted to stay somewhere authentic and not in a dull chain hotel and we weren't disappointed. Both our...

It was a lovely little hotel in a perfect location. We stayed here because we wanted a change from our Sheratons and Westins. It was a nice change. The beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, the bathroom was re-done and looks modern, and free wifi! They people who run it are nice and helpful. Its also less than a 5...

This little hotel was perfect for our 4 days stay in Paris in Aug 2012. Fantastic location in the Marrais, minutes from the beautiful Notre Dame, and literally a 2 minute walk to metro!!! Yes, the room was small... but welcome to Europe's top cities!! We wanted to see as much as possible in our short four day visit as...

This small hotel has much to offer in terms of location and charm. It is three star and offers all that one would expect from a hotel with that rating. The rooms are fine in terms of size. The bathroom is small and certainly a one at a time place. The shower has great pressure and plenty of hot water....

I booked this hotel based on nice reviews on tripadvisor. I arrive at night in paris and got to the hotel to find hotel staff who were too busy to attend to us and once attended told us our room was on the 5th floor and no lift to use for us (only a small old lift for luggage) -...

Fabulous location - an old hotel with bathrooms in the corner of the rooms. They were as small as we had on our canal boat so they would not impress Americans! The beds were just passable, the rate was fantastic, the female day managers (2) were helpful. The evening manager was an Indian fellow who needs people skill lessons. Main...

The beds were comfortable but the pillows were hard and lumpy, and there was insufficient lighting. The bathroom was very nice for Paris with an enclosed shower. The lift usually began at the 1st floor not the ground floor entry. The entry and public spaces are long overdue for a face lift. This is not near the fashionable section of...

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
