Before our trip we had done a little research to find a nice central located hotel. We decided to book Hotel Carmes for our first night only and decided to wait and see what exactly the hotel was like before booking for the rest of our trip, as we had heard so many horror stories about accomadation in Paris. We were...

The location is perfect: near metro Maubert and walking distance to Notredame. Very clean and with a friendly staff. I stayed there in Jan 2008 for 5 nights and in Oct 2006 for 5 nights. I booked direct to the hotel (by fax). For breakfast, you have many options near the hotel. When we talk about Paris, considering hotel prices,...

We were looking for somewhere very quiet but central, and this hotel had good reports on TripAdvisor - which from our experience last weekend is absolutely the case! We had a 'superior' first-floor room facing the inner tiny courtyard rather than the street. It would have been a bit dark without the light and perhaps hot without the excellent aircon,...

Although the rooms were small, they were very clean and very comfortable. My room had air conditioning, CNN (in English) and good closet space. Tiny bathroom but it served my needs and I was able to take leisurely hot showers. The staff is extremely friendly to all nationalities and they are protective of guests (you must leave your key at...

Stayed for 3 nights from 23rd March 2008. Basic hotel, but very clean, with friendly, helpful staff. Triple room quite small, but very adequate for our needs at 137 Euroi per night. Hotel has a lift and basic 6 Euro breakfast, which is fine. You can pay a fortune for hotels in Paris, but this time we were on a...

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 9 days and are very satisfied with the experience. The room was very basic and tiny (as expected) but clean. The staff went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible -- whether it be giving directions to sites, instructing us on how to navigate the Metro,...

We stayed in this lovely hotel on our honeymoon trip for a 10 nights. I have made quite an extended research on Paris's hotels in price range of <100EUR and according to all reviews - it was the best. After staying there I can say that is one of the best hotels for its price category in Paris. First of...

I stayed here with my parents in July, 2007. We have a triple room for 102 euro. They gave us special discount because we stayed here for a week. It is quite inexpensive for 3 people in this location. The hotel is excellent. Quiet, clean. The Pantheon is right outside our window. Friendly staff. Homely ambience. The only thing is,...

My husband and I stayed in this hotel on May 8-15, 2007. It's a real good hotel, well located. Our room (double standard) was very clean and very quiet. After a long walk around Paris each day, we got a perfect sleep every single night. I guess the room is soundproof. I highly recommend this hotel to whose who are...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
