Went with a friend for a 3 day Paris trip just after the election and chose the Hotel d'Angleterre as had stayed there before and loved it. It has a great feeling of history as had been the British Embassy many years ago. We both had a tiny single room but a very comfortable bed and minute bathroom with a...

I have stayed in this hotel five times now and will continue to return. It is not particularly glamorous, and the bathrooms could do with an update, but it is a rare place that offers bigger rooms - a huge relief if one dislikes those little closet-sized rooms of other hotels. I very much like the charming inner courtyard where you...

The History of this location alone makes a stay worthwhile. Those looking to experience a touch of authentic Paris, this is a great spot! I recommend reading up on the History of the building itself, and it's connection the US History, as well as it's connection to Hemmingway, etc. Some nooks and crannies are worn, but very clean, and the...

We recently stayed at the d'Angelterre in September, so how lucky for us to be able to return so quickly (humblebrag, I know). The hotel is beyond charming and comfortable--it is a home away from home, We booked far enough in advance that we were able to request a specific room that had given us such happiness before (#5). The...

Last September (2016) I stayed four nights in the Angleterre. Despite its online self-praise, the hotel is mediocre except for its location. There is no elevator. My room, 46, was at the top of a very narrow, steep winding staircase. The ledge was almost nonexistent, so that opening the door of the room and getting in were actually hazardous; you...

Dear Madam, I was very surprised to find your opinion about the hotel six months after your visit with us. I would have liked to have met you during your stay so that we could resolve some disappointment. Firstly I would like to rectify the fact that the hotel has an elevator which serves 18 rooms on 26, 2 rooms...

Quiet location, discrete, large rooms, very comfortable, been before and will certainly go again. It has all the mod-cons but is also quaint and rather like a club. Good value; took a god-child who was also very happy. If you want something old fashioned but modern yet quiet, this is the place to go.

After making a reservation for one night, I'd asked that if the Ernest Hemingway room was available, that I'd really enjoy staying there. When I checked in, I couldn't believe it when the staff handed me the key to Room #14: the Heminway room! Perfect. The room was more than adequate. Only drawbacks: no outlets in the bathroom and the...

The Hotel d'Angleterre was new to us and it is quickly became a place to which we will return--soon, I hope. The staff is unremittingly gracious and kind. Its location on the Rue Jacob cannot be beat as cafés, shops, clubs, and public transportation are all very close. It is also a quick walk to the Right Bank and to...

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
