This was my third stay at the Residence des Arts but the first under the new hotel management/ownership, and the difference clearly showed. We opted for the apartment on the fifth floor, combining both the double room and junior suite which was a spacious treat. It was also convenient to be able to lock the main entry door to the fifth floor, while allowing the doors to both rooms to be propped open for our convenience (as the junior suite had a kitchenette).
The apartment's furnishings were plush and well-appointed, giving our stay an authentic feel to what was clearly an older building. I also found the windows to do a good job of insulating us from the street noise and, mercifully, the Irish pub across the street was closed for vacation during our stay.
Otherwise the AC worked well during the warm days and kept the entire living space at a comfortable level, while I enjoyed the luxury of having both a bathtub and separate shower in the junior suite.
As other reviewers have noted, the hotel's location, near the St Michel metro and rail station, can't be beat, and the area is littered with great bakeries, cafes, and restaurants so you cannot run out of great choices to eat at. Plus the Latin Quarter ambiance makes this my favorite part of paris to be in, and I've visited the City more than thirty times.
Finally, I'd reiterate the accolades heaped on the staff whose helpfulness and overall level of professionalism cannot be exaggerated. Yann, Willy and Guillaume were exceptional in this regard, as well as Amandine (??), the young woman whose name I may have forgotten. Thanks again to everyone! I look forward to returning soon. A bientot.

This is a great little hotel for anyone who enjoys old-style atmosphere in an unpretentious setting.
The area is perfect - very near a main RER and metro station plus walking distance from many of the main tourist attractions. The little streets are very atmospheric and there is a great selection of restaurants, crĂŞperies, and quirky (manga, games) and less quirky (Etam, supermarkets) close by.
Our room was small but had everything we needed, although clothes storage was minimal. The hotel itself was really quiet, hard to believe how silent things were after the restaurants had shut for the night. Beds were very comfy, bathroom slightly old but very clean.
Our welcome was lovely, and the continental breakfast a welcome start to the day. We also appreciated the generous checking in and out times and bag storage on our last day.
This is a small hotel and suited us perfectly. Every morning we walked up to the Seine and saw Notre Dame, and every evening we came back to the beautiful, bustling, friendly streets.

We spent four nights at Hotel Residence Des Arts in Paris in November last year.
The hotel is in an ideal location, on a reasonably quiet narrow street, surrounded by restaurants and bars. It is just a five-minute walk to the Seine and to St. Michel station for both the Metro and the RER.
We booked a Junior Suite, and the room was large and had big windows overlooking the street and letting in lots of light. There was a bedroom with a king-sized bed. I was happy with the bed, but my husband felt that it was far too soft to be comfortable.
As well as the bedroom there was a separate living area with what I think was a sofa bed. It wasn’t particularly comfortable, but it did provide seating other than the bed, which was what we wanted. There was also a large bathroom by Paris standards and a small kitchenette, which was old, and we didn’t bother to use.
Whilst we were really happy with the size of the room, we did feel that the website was somewhat misleading. The room was much tattier than the obviously enhanced pictures showed. A curtain rod was literally hanging off of the wall and when we tried to close said curtain it completely fell down. Our coffee machine fell apart on first use, and there was no replacement available and it two days to be repaired.
The other thing that we also didn’t realise from the website was that reception and breakfast were actually in a sister hotel over the road. Not really a huge problem, but I would probably have stayed in that hotel had I known that they were connected.
There was a lift, but it was seriously one of the tiniest lifts I have ever seen. Like a lot of European lifts, it stopped between floors so stairs were unavoidable. Normally that wouldn’t be an issue, but I managed to injure my hip and back so stairs and crossing the road for breakfast were fairly difficult for me.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for its superb location.
I wish Trip Advisor had a three and half star rating as that is really what I feel this hotel deserves, it is better than "Average" but not quite "Very Good". "Good" is the rating that I would have liked to give.

This hotel is in a wonderful location and has loads of fantastic bistros within a short distance and it is easy walking distance to many key attractions as well as two metro stations a couple of hundred yards away. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely go back

The hotel was the perfect place for us. In the Latin quarter and a block away from the St Michel metro station, which is a hub station to thr RER blue and yellow lines. Walking distance to all major tourist attractions and very safe at night. We traveled with our 17 yo son and our room was a suite affording all of us enough privacy for three people in one room. The bathroom had both a tub and shower which can be a rare combination in Europe. In addition, the staff was helpful and genuinely friendly. The maid service did an excelant job cleaning the room every day. Overall, we felt it was a very good value and would definitely stay there again.

A weekend break for 2 nights. We arrived at the hotel around 3pm to a warm welcome. The room was very stylish, a good size with space around the bed and entrance with mini bar and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was compact but well set out with a very nice shower with good pressure and nice toiletries. The position is excellent and it’s easy to get to lots of sights walking. There are lots of good options to eat as well, from street food and bars to very nice restaurants and a lively atmosphere. We had the breakfast which was top notch continental fare, lovely bread, some of the best croissants we’ve had, good coffee. Staff were helpful and gave the place a relaxed yet professional feel. Would definitely recommend and use again if we return to Paris

This is a cute little hotel in a historic area of Paris that has the Seine and a view of Notre Dame from the end of the road. Reception is in it's twin hotel on the other side of the road (Villa D'Estrees). Check-in was very easy and the excellent day manager speaks fantastic english. After checking us in and giving us a map and information about cafes, restaurants and other sites, he escorted us to the rooms and explained how everything works. He then delivered our 4 suitcases as the lift was very small. The hotel is a very narrow, old building and there are only 2 rooms to each floor that are on a small landing off the staircase (a double and a suite). Travelling with our children we took both on level 3 and although the rooms are not inter-connecting, there's a door on the landing that means you can lock the 2 rooms off from the staircase and then leave the 2 room doors open. Rooms were very clean and are serviced everyday (bathroom had great shower pressure!). The rooms are very warm and even in winter we only used the heating once during our 5 night stay. We had a day in with sickness and the manager arranged for housekeeping to deliver clean towels etc to be left outside our door and for us to be left alone after enquiring if we needed any assistance. The hotel offers breakfast in reception (not included in room rate) but with a small kitchenette we just popped out each morning for fresh croissants and coffee. The area is very close to St Michel-Notre Dame station for accessing the Paris Metro and the train to Versailles. Lots of places to eat nearby for all budgets as well as a Carrefour not to far away for snacks & drinks etc.

The Hotel Residence Des Arts was a classically styled Parisian hotel in the middle of the 6th arr, a neighborhood of delicious restaurants and wonderful boutique stores. The people who ran and worked in the hotel were extremely helpful in every respect. The room was a good size for such a location in a city like Paris, and it was divided into a living room and bedroom, which we loved. The decor was old Paris, not modern, so a nice option for a vacation. The bathroom had all the basics and very nice towels, though only minimal amenities. The morning breakfast was continental and delicious -- the croissants were the best we've ever had anywhere! The only downside is the noise at night in the neighborhood as there are nearby bars, which we mostly drowned out by putting the heater fan on high.

We booked this online directly via the hotel after seeing the beautiful photos online and reading some good reviews. When we arrived, it was fairly late at night. It was slightly confusing re which entrance we needed to take as the hotel is divided into two buildings (across from each other). Once we were checked in, we were given instructions on how to enter the other building where our suite was. Taking the lift was not an option as the lift was minuscule that would barely fit two people plus luggage, so we opted to walk up the dark narrow staircase. Upon entering our room, we were pretty shocked to see how different it was to what the online photos showed. It was small, old and tatty. The radiators were off and we had to figure them out to turn them on. The sofa in the small break out area was so old and dirty looking that we wondered what went on there. The room smelt old and not aired properly. Overall, the suite/room was day and night compared to the photos we had seen on their website. On the plus side, the sheets were clean and so was the bathroom. But everything else was awful. Wouldn’t stay again and the following morning we checked out and checked into a different hotel. For breakfast, which is in the foyer where the Reception is and people with luggage walking past you, we were offered two choices at a different price. Both choices were the same. Very confusing. So in conclusion, would not stay there again.

they are a very small, boutique hotel with personal service. chances are your room will be ready. but if not, don't despair! the neighborhood is filled with little cafe's and is just steps away from Notre Dame & The Louvre. you can also walk by the river Seine and just enjoy some fresh air. It is very easy to kill a couple of hours within this location of Paris.

I stayed at the Hotel Residence Des Arts last week (Nov 7 - 11th). I honestly didn't see any construction, and my room was in very good shape. I would agree that you could e-mail the desk and specifically ask about a room, if you're inclined to stay there. The location is superb. The staff is top notch.
