We spent one night at this charming hotel at the end of March and were delighted by the warm and professional welcome we received from reception staff. One month later, I realised that I had left my favourite pair of shoes in the hotel room! I emailed the customer service address late that night and received a response from the...

I have been staying at the Scribe for the last 50 years, since I was a school girl in Paris, as a building the hotel could not be better, but since it has become a Sofitel, the service is terrible, there is just not enough personel, the doorman is also the bell boy, there is no one to get you...

We paid for an upgraded room and compared to the other Parisian Sofitel we stayed in 4 years ago, it was large. However, it was an interior room facing the courtyard. When you opened the curtains you looked directly into another room about 20-30' away (see pic). Therefore, WE COULD NEVER OPEN THE CURTAINS! They definitely need some sort of...

We stayed 4 nights from 27-30 May. The service was the worst I have experienced in over 100 5 Star hotel experienced. There was nobody to great our private car at the street entrance for 15 minutes and after 2 requests to the Conscierge unloaded the luggage ourselves. WE arrived at 12 noon and were asked to come back at...

Loved the hotel scribe, located just behind the Paris Opera House, in the heart of Paris. Convenient to Metros. Service was excellent, especially the concierge staff. Room was lovely, very comfortable. The only thing lacking was storage space. Room had two tiny closets, one taken up with safe, refrigerator, coffee maker. One shelf mounted on the wall would have made...

We had a little trouble finding the hotel at first as the entrance was rather non-descript and not as grand as the huge intercontinental right opposite. But the ambience inside was cosy and elegant. Service was generally very good. Rooms were good sized and had heavenly bed that you can almost float in. Wifi's complementary and works well. Location's great...

I stayed at the Scribe for one night after a friend told me about staying there after the war, when it was the headquarters for newspaper and radio reporters. I'm sure the bank account of the guests have improved since then. You probably won't see a lot of run of the mill tourists here. It more along the lines of...

Hotel Scribe is a very good 5 star hotel in the heart of the city, near Opera, Galeries Lafayettes, Boulevard de Capuccines, and in walking distance from Louvre, Place Vendome, Place de la Concorde, Eglise de St Madeleine, etc. The whole environment of the hotel is very nice and pleasant. The staff is very friendly and tries to satisfy the...

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
