I tried to play the romantic a little while ago and took my other half to Paris for new year's. The hotel was great, in a quiet part of town and really close to the metro. Being on the canal it's a little colder than central (due to the water) but it's quiet, pretty and pretty laid back. Transport links...

Very good value hotel in Paris. 3 mins walk from metro. Usual Ibis standard, very clean and simple rooms. Beds are comfy. No fridge in rooms. Staff very helpful. Rooms have a good view of the suburbs. Very handy for Parc des Sciences, La Grande Halle de Villette and the Philarmonie (well worth a look). Lots of bars around and...

We made a massive mistake by staying at this hotel. Myself and my partner decided to go to Paris for the New year celebrations. We stayed a total of 3 nights. The hotel is in what I can only describe as slums, don't let the main picture by the canal fool you. The area is covered with graffiti all over...

An year ago we went to Paris with my husband for the first time. It was self-planned holiday with no tour operators and organized tours. We wanted good value for reasonable price and decided to stay there. Rooms are not specious enough and the window was locked but given that we spent no more than 7-8 hours in the room(just...

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel as it was close to a pick up point for a battlefields tour we were booked to go on. We were given a room at the front of the hotel on the 5th floor "overlooking the canal, one of our better rooms" we were told. The room was extremely small, with...

We stayed here with a Cosmos tour. I would say to Cosmos, find another hotel. Our room was very small, could barely move with our suitcases in there. There was no air con and they gave us a fan after much ado. It is located in a not good part of town and quite a way from Paris. Breakfast was...

My father became ill (nothing to do with the hotel) and was taken to hospital meaning family drove all night to get there to support my mother. The hotel was very understanding of the situation (after all they saw my dad being picked up by ambulance) and allowed 3 people in a double room without charging extra for neither 3rd...

We had a twin room for 4 nights, although the bathroom was very small, the bedroom was a good size and certainly accommodated 2 adults very well. The downside was that the room was very warm at night and the air conditioning was not available. The staff at reception were incredibly helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. Breakfast was...

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. No Air Conditioning, no fans......and they tell u to open the windows. And all the mosquitos are welcomed to your room. It was out last day of the trip to Europe. Everything went well but this hotel made my ending miserable. Could not sleep for the whole night. One of...

Staying in La Villette

Neighbourhood Profile
La Villette
This futuristic landscape has come to define the northeast of Paris. The Saint-Denis canal is framed with luscious lawns and metallic buildings over a wide-open space. Home to Europe's largest science museum, this area rewards daytime and nighttime explorations; there are three concert spaces, plus cinemas and bars, and even open-air cinema in the summer. The surrounding homes are a sharp contrast to the futuristic space. Though on the outskirts of Paris, La Villette is worth the short Metro ride from the centre.
