I reserved the Chinoiserie room to do a photo shoot because of its interesting look. (I'm an independent fashion designer who makes clothing and jewellery.) I thought it would make an inexpensive, cool set. I checked in with my photographer (who is also my husband) and the woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, as well as patient with my very poor French.

Everything was fine until the photographer's assistant showed up with the lights. I went downstairs to get him, and by the time we went upstairs another woman chased us up the stairs, then the first woman I'd met came up, telling him to get out, saying agitatedly to me, "This is not the same man!" I explained that he was not staying the night, and was there as an assistant. The photog. assistant said, "It looks like she thinks you're a prostitute." I'm pretty sure that's what she thought, so I explained in my poor French that my husband was also here and he could explain (his French is...

We loved our stay at this hotel, and would definitely return. Ideally situated close to Montmartre and good value for a Paris hotel.

We like hotels with a bit of personality and aren't too worried about modern decor so rotary hotel suited us well. The room was really unique and very fun.

The lady who ran the hotel was the best thing about the visit. She was so friendly and kind even though there was a mix up about our booking. She also had good spoken english.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
