I booked this hotel mainly because of the location and views, I was not disappointed by either. A short walk over the bridge to the Louvre and park, 10 minutes to the bars, shops and restaurants of the Latin quarter and about 15 minute stroll to the Eiffel Tower. The hotel itself is looking a little worn. The bathroom was...

We came here due to reasonable price, position and friend's recommendation. Some famous names have stayed here. The room is small and modest with a regular double bed against the wall and a shower so small that you have to open the door to pick up the soap or wash your feet. But we LOVE the view from our 4th...

It's hard to top this view, looking across the river Seine at the Louvre. It is also the best location in Paris, walking distance to most of the great attractions. Plus there are many cafés nearby, as it is on the left bank, so one able to sit and watch Paris go by. Be warned that the rooms are very...

We stayed at de Quai Voltaire at the beginning of October/2012, spent only one night.. Thanks gosh!!! The room was very small, the bathroom was probably the smallest I've stayed! Old fashioned design! The floor on the room and hall way made a lot of noise! Didn't eat breakfast there! Very very close to louvre! Amazing view! Double glass window,...

Stopped by for a couple of nights on the way home. Still a good place to stay. I notice that they now have 3 stars - they have an arangement for room meals with an outside company but still dont have a kettle in the room. Have seen better croisants than those served for breakfast. As i was late booking...

Stayed in room 23, which is considered a superior double (I think this is important - you get what you pay for, which might explain some of the lesser ratings). Furnishings were outdated, as in many hotels in Europe, but the room was quite large (for Paris) and very clean and comfortable. The bed could have been a bit softer...

PARIS: My wife lovingly refers to this Hotel as a “Motel 6 on the Seine.” She chuckles when she says it. Then she says, “Let’s go back.” (she says this over and over, so take a hint ) The rooms are actually smaller than a Motel 6 - kind of like a 1960’s NYC hotel room - one where you...

We had a large (for Paris) & quiet garden-view room (actually no garden, just roof but the window opened for air) on floor 1. Each staff member at the reception desk spoke English. The hotel has a small elevator, is in good condition, had comfortable mattresses, had WiFi throughout, and was spotlessly clean. Our continental breakfast came at a small...

Last October we managed to get back to France, our favourite place in the world to visit! We wanted to be fairly central and through recommendation stayed at Hotel du Quai-Voltaire. We absolutely loved it and found it a great location. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and charming and it had a...

I was really disappointed after reading rave reviews about this hotel. Yes, the location is incredible and we enjoyed the views across the river, but the room was so tiny, not very clean, and certainly shabby. I know some regard that as quaint, and I do like quaint European hotels, but I have stayed in others that were much nicer....

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
