A perfect hotel in best possible position, wonderful friendly helpful staff, we loved staying there and will return. The hotel is in easy reach of Metro stations, albeit we are considered old we walked every where. There are some charming little restaurants very close by, the people at the desk were always able to recommend places to eat at and...

My fiancé and I stayed here for 3 nights in Sept 2015. The location was fantastic! We walked to all of the sights and museums. It is right across the street from the Louvre and a 15 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral. It is on a very quiet street with beautiful views. The only thing...

It was our 2nd visit to this hotel and again we were absolutely satisfied. Nice, quiet and comfortable room, very friendly and helpful staff both during the day and at night. Excellent location near the Musee d'Orsay but on a quiet street. Good sized room considering this was in central Paris. Spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. We will use this hotel again when we next visit Paris. The breakfast was very good.

We had an excellent stay, at a decent price, at this small hotel near the Musee d'Orsay and all other popular sites in central Paris. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and faced an inward courtyard--affording both light and quiet. The staff were accommodating and efficient, and helped us deal with a few small issues we encountered upon check-in. The...

Good location. Room not so tiny as average 3-star hotels in Paris. Clean and renewed bathroom. Walk-in shower (that was very good. I wonder when european hotels will notice that half of the world hates bathtubs?). I've read somewhere that this hotel is almost a 4-star. Not true, but surely it's a good value 3-star hotel (for Paris standards).

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de l’Université is a former Benedictine convent and has retained many period features while adapting to the needs of 21st century society. The reception area is vast and delightful with its ancient beams. It is an immediate illustration of the style and appeal of this quality establishment. The Hotel de l’Université only has 27 bedrooms, allowing the staff to focus on an individualized care. Each room has its own decor and character, many ornate with ageless beams, but all benefiting from tall traditional Parisian windows allowing daylight to flood in. All the rooms have been renovated in 2011 and include air-conditioning, mini-bar, safety deposit box and a free Wi-Fi connection. A laundry service is available upon request. The rooms on the top floor overlook the rooftops of Paris and some have the rare bonus of a private terrace. The Hotel de l’Université is not a place to stay for the night. It is a journey into the history and style of Parisian life, a chance to experience life as one of the locals and bring back unforgettable memories. ... more   less
