From the moment we entered this hotel, we had nothing but problems. They informed us our room was not yet ready and would take about 15 minutes, even though it was 6pm at night. We decided to have dinner and come back, when we came back, we were told that due to "technical difficulties" (whatever that means) we would have...

We stay at the hotel from the 26.-28.08.2005. Its an old renovated manor-house. Our room was directly under the roof. All rooms have air-conditioner. When you want to take a shower you have to duck, because of the small rooms. And after the shower you can go swimming, maybe someone forget the shower curtain :) The location is quiet good,...

Hotel Ille de France Opera - Stayed there April, 2005 and it was just delightful. Room, as expected for Paris, was a bit small, but beautifully decorated and always made up perfectly. We had beautiful flowers growing in a window box just outside of our street facing window. The staff was fabulous. They could not have been any more friendly...

I searched the Internet for a good deal, and found a 70 euro (low season rate) single room for 7 nights. I specifically searched for a hotel with an elevator, since I have trouble climbing stairs. When I got there, they told me the room was on the fifth floor, and the elevator only went to the fourth floor. Oh,...

Right off Boulevard de Opera on a quiet street is This jewel of a small hotel with a very pleasant staff and small but clean and bright rooms decorated in the colors of Provence. Skip the 8 Euro breakfast and walk to the corner where the Gallion Boulangerie has the best croussants we tasted in all of Paris. Coffee and...

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.

“If you want to save money, walking is okay, but be in good shape. From this hotel, the Eiffel tower is a 45 minute to 1 hour walk, but wonderful sites along the way. Or, take a bus or a moto-taxi. Moto-taxi is a lot of fun; about 30 Euro.”
