The staff were very friendly and helpful which made our trip a success. Our room was very nice with private a bathroom although compact, as expected. Lovely French doors with a Juliet balcony in our room which we could open for fresh air. Elevator available. Well located close to the Cardinal Lemoine Metro Station, the Seine and a number nice...

I have had a very bad experience with this hotel. After exchanging several emails to clarify the dates and rates I was very surprised to pay extra for the breakfast. I explain my complain to the manager but it was never solved.

Stayed in a quadruple family room. Was spacious enough. Lovely traditional building with a lovely staircase and lift to higher floors. The hotel is clean. The bathroom needed some TLC but for Paris and what we paid, its decent enough. Liked the 24h reception and felt safe in hotel and surrounding area. Good base and the beds were comfy. The...

Stayed 3 nights...that would be about 3 too many. I'm not usually fussy about hotel rooms, but this one had an extreme lack of any charm to go along with peeling paint on the dirty walls. As well, no fan or A/C. So the choice was to sleep with the window open and be disturbed by the noise from the...

Stopped here for 3 nights during the football. Location is great, a few bars nearby (decent one over the road), only a 5 minute walk down to the river (Notre Dame etc) and a 10 minute walk up the hill to the Latin Quarter (which was lovely). Check-in was swift and room keys are kept at Reception when you leave...

We have been visiting this hotel since 2004. It's lovely. It's in a really good location. The staff are lovely, especially Anna who is so helpful. We have always had rooms on the 5th and 6th floors facing the front of the hotel with a balcony with great views. As for the breakfast - wow! Coffee, croissant and baguette, orange...

The hotel is in the Latin Quarter of Paris. The front entrance is flanked by bars and cafes. Lots of shops, restaurants and even a cinema within 30 seconds walk. I read a review on here that said you had to walk 10 minutes to see anything... Definitely not. 2 minutes walk from front door is the river, then Notre...

Front desk people very helpful. Good restaurant next door. Small room, old, with updated bathroom. Safe too small for even small laptop or large tablet. Quiet room. I slept after long flight. Not a great mattress.

A quaint hotel, well located with friendly staff. Unfortunately, with no air conditioning, this hotel is very noisy because of the student bar located right across the street. If you are traveling during months when you need not open the windows, it is a fine place to stay.

Located in the colorful Latin Quater the Royal au Cardinal Hotel is a delightful place to stay.   We were greeted by a charming receptionist with our reservation and key (that you return if you leave the hotel), and her and my wife (speaks fluent French) were off to the races, with me understanding about every tenth word. Viva le...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
