With an good breakfast and an excellent location (The hostel is really close to Pigalle and Montmatre, and has markets, restourants, laundries and a metro station), I found this hostel a perfect way to visit Paris without spending much money.

this place has clean sheets in a narrow, crowded 6-bed dorm room. the kitchen is smelly. service is sometimes not good -- when i turned up i had to wait 5 minutes for the front desk dude speaking arabic on an obviously personal phone call to finish before he'd serve me. however, a different dude and a woman both gave...

Stayed here a while back when I was backpacking europe between college semesters. Great spot, lockers in the shared rooms, and free breakfast (at the time). Perfect spot to use as home base if you're on a budget, and want to spend every waking moment exploring the city, and not sitting in your room. It's located on a great alley/foot...

We booked a private room and wow was it small, bathroom was small, shower toke at least 10 minutes of running to heat up, and tv only had one channel in French (remote didn't work). Staff were very friendly, helped us get a taxi in the early morning. Pretty good location, takes about 20 mins with metro.

This hostel is a very average, normal, safe hostel. Would definitely recommend. Nothing fancy, but covers all the basics. I loved the atmosphere in the building. All the roommates we met were very friendly! Clean rooms and bathrooms.

My friend and I (two 20 something females) stayed here and it was a pleasant experience. The access to computers was great to have as the wifi wasn't always reliable. The breakfast was nothing to brag about but it was provided and that was enough. We shared a pretty tight room with other females, and met some nice people in...

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was quiet but in a good area close to Sacre Coure, bohemian shopping areas and the metro. Only thing which was a pain was that there was only one power point in the room which was located near the ceiling for the TV. Made recharging electronics difficult. I would stay here...

The rooms are bright and clean, the hostel is super close to the lamark metro which makes getting around super easy. It's just outside the really busy part of the city so a little more quiet. However loud motorbikes go past all through the night which you can hear if you have the window open for fresh air. The staff...

The Caulaincourt is a nice hostel, it was a pleasant stay and whilst the staff weren't overly friendly or involved they were polite and helpful. It is quite a small hostel and there is no separate common area to chill out in. There are some seats up by the reception but it lacks a lounge. There is a kitchen and...

The room was small, and if we had 6 people in our room it would have been very craft. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it wasn't too hot. Sadly there is very little atmosphere as there is little to no communal areas. It's in quite a good location, with a metro station near and some good sites.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
