It's difficult to find a cheap but reasonable hotel in a good location in Paris, so we were pleased with this - basic, but clean and comfortable, with more space than the average budget hotel room here. Shower head holder didn't work, and the bed had a horrid waterproof undersheet (which seem to be increasingly common) - after sweating through...

I stayed at the Grand Hotel de L'Avenue for five nights in mid-March. For the price, the room and bathroom were decently large and clean. However, at night, I would constantly hear doors opening and closing as well as people walking in the hallways. But the worst part of my stay was the rude man at the front desk at...

We stayed in this hotel for three nights, having paid 66 euro for each. The location was good - 10 minutes by metro from Gare du Nord (metro "Place de le Republique") and a 3-minute walk to the hotel. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants around, a 24-hour supermarket (closed on Sundays) and a pharmacy. The hotel, despite...

We stayed a total of 4 nights in this hotel (divided in two stays). The room was small but the bed was ok. The private bathroom was also small but very clean. There was a problem because it had this type of shower you can take and move around you, but it had no place to put it so you...

easy to find and really close to all we needed - public transportation, internet cafe, a few bars - and clean. room was a good size, bed was fine, shower curtain a little flimsy (and almost got electrocuted b/c of all the water on the floor), but the front desk help was AWESOME. they gave us great directions to whatever...

Close the metro, supermarket and cafes. The room was a good size and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was ok, a bun and croissant with juice or a hot drink. Free internet in the lobby.

Let me start with the only negative thing about this hotel: you must be prepared for traffic noise from the street if you want to have your windows open at night. The hotel is located on a very busy corner (Avenue de la République/ Blvd Richard Lenoir) - and it is busy round the clock. When the windows are closed,...

The hotel is very pleasant. It's one minute's walk from the Place de la Republique, and from there it's only three stops on the metro to Chatelet - starting point for Notre Dame, Rue de Rivoli and the Louvre. The reception area and resident's lounge is very small, but the staff were all courteous and helpful (though I think I...

Neighbourhood Profile
Bastille / Oberkampf
Bastille and Oberkampf are lively parts of town made for entertainment. During the day rows of unassuming bars welcome customers for a bite or a drink, but it’s at night this area really comes to life. Students and young professionals fill the busy bars around Bastille and Oberkampf. At Place de la Bastille, crowds flock to the Opéra Bastille in the evening and groups wait for coveted tickets during the day. Towards Republique, skateboarders practice their tricks while others chill out at the square. If you’re looking for late-night revelry, this is your neighbourhood.
