We stayed at the Relais last week-end for a birthday treat in Paris. It was perfect - very clean and tidy, with friendly staff who were keen to help. It is well positioned for walking to the Quartier Latin and beyond, and is near the Luxembourg Gardens for some peace and quiet. Also 5 minutes from the Luxembourg RER station... More

Hotel lobby lovely but my room was pretty shabby with torn carpet that could definitely use a shampoo. This was by no ways a 4 star as it advertises. Beds are extremely uncomfortable (two twins pushed together) and bathroom is absolutely miniscule, even by Paris standards. Thin, rough towels could be used to exfoliate. Virtually no amenities, including hair conditioner.... More

My husband and I absolutely loved this hotel! Very charming, wonderful location, clean, and last but not least, the staff is absolutely fantastic! From the breakfast-room ladies to the front-desk, you can be sure you will be treated very politely, they are all very helpful, fun and very agreeable. The only thing that one could find not as great is... More

We stayed for 4 nights and on the first morning I asked for lime for my tea, the waitress brought me a lemon, which is normal, but on the second morning when she saw me, she ran out to the market and bought me a lime! When and where has that ever happened before--anywhere in world?? The only bad thing... More

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in September. The room was a normal size for a Paris hotel but not large by some international standards. The reception and breakfast room staff were very helpful. The hotel is convenient for restaurants, Luxembourg Gardens and Metro station. We enjoyed our stay. Ken & Chris, Australia

We had a very enjoyable four night stay in this hotel. The room we stayed in was quite small but very comfortable, clean, quiet and nicely decorated in typical Parisian style. The location is excellent being on a quiet side street very close to the Parc du Luxembourg (great if you like a run first thing in the morning). There is... More

We loved the hotel--only drawback is it is not as close to good metro lines as other places I have stayed. The rooms were large and comfy--very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy walk to Notre Dame and Seine river--close bus lines nearby. Ave. Saint Michel very close with good restaurants, shops, bakeries, etc. Luxembourg Gardens within... More

We were lucky enough to discover this great neigbourhood and the cute Relais St Jacques. Close to major sites and transportation, well decorated decent size rooms, helpful staff makes you feel at home. We stayed in room # 502 with a lovely view on the Pantheon.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
