Detailed Reviews
The hotel is nice, staff friendly, room clean. It is located in a so-so “bedroom community” meaning that most nearby places are closed at night. If you are a female alone, I would not recommend you walk around the neighborhood at night. On a good note, the area is fairly quiet at night even facing the street. The biggest down side is that the location is not close to the more historical neighborhoods of Paris so you must use the Metro, Uber, or taxi. The Metro is a short walk and very convenient, but if you want to be closer to the more interesting historical ( “tourist” sites), I would consider hotels in the Latin Quarter. After taking the “Big Bus” tour (which I recommend) I saw the Latin Quarter near Notre Dame and the museums would have worked better for us for about the same price (<300 Euros).
**Regarding the review about the man who entered someone’s room at night, note that the windows are actually balcony doors and the first floor is reachable for someone athletic enough to climb. The hotel has apparently responded to this incident by putting a thick glass barrier on the outside of all the balcony windows on first floor (2nd floor in America). They did this just yesterday. Still, I am conscious about the safety of my family wherever we go so I recommend getting a room at the second floor or above. I kept the windows closed and locked while we slept and used the central air conditioner, which worked very well.

GOOD: Great location, near the bus depot (70 meters, several Bus lines starting from there), near the Metro station Line 4 (100 meters), train line T3 (100 meters), thus very easy to travel anywhere around Paris. Reception very warm and full of advices. Parking arranged in the protected private garage just across the street, very clean room, particularly bathroom, comfy beds (not too soft), additional pillows received as requested, great breakfast and very friendly and quick mademoiselle serving there. WiFi good and fast, free of charge. There is even an elevator, although the hotel doesn't have many floors. Quiet street, almost no traffic, no noise, good for sleeping.
NOT SO GOOD: We will come again, but I will ask for a room at any other floor than the 2nd. Namely, the Owner thinks that Hotel Virgina looks nice at night with the strong lights that illuminate the walls outside, and those lights are situated at the base of 2nd floor, pointing upwards (illuminating the sky, even in this time of expensive energy!). No matter how well you close the curtains, there will still be some of that light illuminating the ceiling in your room, so choose another floor if it disturbs you.

We found and booked this place last minute and by that I mean that we showed up to the hotel about an hour after booking. We were kind of desperate, since the original place we booked ended up having broken air conditioning, and were looking for somewhere that could accomodate us for 5 nights. We were lucky to get the last bedroom available.
The staff was extremely corteous throughout our stay, giving us tips to move around the city, changing the bed covers for something lighter when we asked and even letting us leave our luggage in situ after our check out, so that we could have a few more hours in Paris before taking our plane.
The bedroom was clean and the room cleaning service was quite a luxury for us.
The hotel is situated right next to the bus station, the tram T3A and the metropolitan line n.4, so it was really easy to get to anywhere we wanted in Paris.
We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed two nights at Hotel Virginia and had a great time. The hotel is ideally situated with several restaurants very close, a great patisserie around the block, a grocery store literally next door, and bus & metro stops only steps away. The Porte d'Orleans area has lots going on and was nice to just walk around, or if you want something a little less urban then the Parc Montsouris and Petite Ceinture are both a 5-10 minute walk away. (in opposite directions though)
The staff was very helpful and welcoming, and had a room ready for us even though we arrived very early in the day. The room was tiny but typical for Paris, and was very clean and well-appointed. The bathroom looked to have recently been modernized and featured a really nice sink & shower. There was a closet with sliding doors that provided a surprising amount of storage space and allowed us to get our suitcases out of the way. The bed was comfortable and we slept well, although we did hear the bus a bit in the early morning as it stops right outside the hotel. The windows have also been modernized and overall they do a good job of keeping the noise outside so it was never an issue for us.
There is a beautiful elevator and it is really cool but it is also in the running for smallest elevator I have ever seen. My wife and I barely fit in at the same time (we are both fairly tall but average build) so I would imagine it would be an adventure trying to cram suitcases in there. We just carried ours up the stairs and it wasn't bad at all.
The service was excellent. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and helpful. They gave us directions to local restaurants and bus/metro stations and booked a taxi for us to get back to the airport on the morning of our departure. The day we arrived was May 1, (Labour Day in France) and apparently the tradition of the day is to offer Lily of the Valley to people to bring them good luck. What a surprise when they gave my wife a potted Lily of the Valley plant as a gift when we checked in! It was an unexpected but very appreciated gesture, and shows the quality of the service you receive at Hotel Virginia. We brought the plant back to Canada with us and were lucky enough to get it through customs, so we will have a nice reminder of our stay as it continues to grow!
Overall we had a very nice stay at Hotel Virginia and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great value in Paris!

Me and my wife had a great experience staying at this hotel for our Paris vacation.
The room was clean, quiet and had everything we needed. There was an empty minibar which was perfect for keeping some breakfast food. Many of the rooms are tiny but we had booked a slightly larger one with a balcony, which I think was a good choice. We had breakfast on our minimal but cozy balcony every morning. There's a large supermarket 50 m from the hotel and a Lidl a few blocks away. There's also a nice bakery where you can buy your baguettes, croissants and delicious french pastries in the same block. It was convenient to make our own breakfast so we never tried the hotel breakfast.
The best part of the hotel was the friendly staff. They were all very heplful and gave us insightful advice for our sightseeing and how to get around with the traffic chaos caused by the preparations for the Olympics.
The location is in the inner city but not within walking distance to any of the main tourist attractions. That is not a problem though because the hotel is located in a hub of public transportation! Within 0-2 minutes walk you can find buses, metro and even trams that take you almost anywhere you want to go in Paris.
We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a cozy, convenient and affordable place to stay in Paris.

Dear Magnus, I'm delighted to hear that you and your wife had a great experience at the hotel during your Paris vacation! It's wonderful that your room was clean, quiet, and well-equipped, with the added convenience of an empty minibar for storing breakfast food. Booking a slightly larger room with a balcony sounds like it was a perfect choice, allowing you to enjoy breakfast on your cozy balcony each morning. The proximity to a large supermarket, Lidl, and a bakery for fresh pastries certainly made breakfast easy and enjoyable. The friendly and helpful staff, who provided insightful advice for sightseeing and navigating the city, seem to have been a highlight of your stay. Despite not being within walking distance of the main tourist attractions, the hotel's location in a public transportation hub made getting around Paris convenient and straightforward. Thank you for sharing your experience and for recommending this hotel to others seeking a cozy, convenient, and affordable place to stay in Paris. Kind regards,

We booked this hotel for two nights and had to cancel them a month prior. Yet we got a call from staff at midnight of the original arrival date saying that the reservation is still remaining at their computer. I explained the situation there was nothing more I could do by pushing the cancelation button in the confirmation message. The staff seemed to understand but later the hotel charged me full price for two nights without any further explanation or contact.
I am so glad that I did not use this hotel. There is a pickpocket not only in a subway but also in a hotel.

Dear Guide, Thank you for sharing your concerns with us, and we apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced. We understand the frustration you've encountered regarding your reservation. We stayed in this hotel for 2nights. We are highly satisfied with their service. The location is very convenient to the tourist destinations especially for families with strollers like us. Some Metro in Paris are not strollers friendly so we are very happy at this hotel as there are a lot of options. There are at least 3 buses around the corner - bus 38, 68 and 92 that can take you to the tourist destinations. Metro line 4 is also an option just in case bus is not your option. Overall, we find this hotel worthy of our money. Definitely, when we go back to Paris, this will be our hotel. The staffs are super friendly too and supermarkets, restaurants are just around the corner.

Since our booked hotel was closed, we were given this hotel. We would be received very friendly. We were able to communicate with our school in English, the entire staff was very courteous and extremely helpful. The location is good, so we can recommend it with a clear conscience. Breakfast was excellent too. We had a large room with AC, fridge, safe and TV. Nothing was missing. The willingness to help was overwhelming.

The location is very good with the Metro being 2 minutes away. The room was better than expected, the staff was extremely kind and helpful, the breakfast was good. It is no Hilton though and I must mention the Wi-Fi is unusably slooow and unstable, not acceptable at all.
